Worked with one of these the last couple days. Apparently you cannot jam 23.98 into camera? Could receive and could jam 29.97. Just giving a heads up and wondering I anyone else has experienced this?

Howdy men, Last gasp just in case: Sending a scratch track to 2 canon xf 305's using a Sennheiser g2 system. Is there any way of adjusting the auto mode sensitivity on the camera? Both the top mic and the scratch I'm sending are smashing into the red. Normally this wouldn't be necessary as you'd be mixing but have the added quirk that there is no mixer on this show. Long story. Gain structure up until the camera is correct all though if someone's found a modified way the works that isn't by the book I'd be interested in hearing it. I've been trying to resolve an issue on a shoot where I've been getting interference on my wireless boom setup. I'm using 2 x Schoeps CMC/MK into Lectro HM and UC400A on block 24. It doesn't seem to matter what channels are selected but it only occurs on the HM not the UC400A. I've tried an alternative HM but the problem persists which sounds like an induced low frequency buzz like you might get from a light on a dimmer. The only piece of camera gear that I haven't come across before is a cine RT focus bug - its only on the B camera and when we use the A camera only there is no problem. Has anyone else experienced similar issues ? Thanks in advance.

I'm planning on sending a scratch track to a Red Scarlet via a Comtek. I assume this Scarlet doesn't have the 'advanced' audio option and the inputs are 1/8" like the Epic. Cables, attenuaters, other issues I should be aware of. Thanks. First shoot with a Scarlet.

Has anyone experience with the NanoFlash recorder? Our camera department plans to use it as a recorder for Sony F3 - to get a better picture quality comparable to XDCAM 422. My first test that the audio level displayed on the LCD doesn't correspond the the level of the recorded file (!). Audio level of the recorded file is the same as the embedded level of the SDI out. What about the audio in of the NanoFlash? Manual says that it's switchable between stereo mic and mono consumer level symmetrical. Does that work well? I couldn't test it yet. They also want to use it as a recorder for Canon 5D. New 5D firmware allows a clean HDMI output, connectable to NanoFlash …

For those who have done a lot of multiple camera shoots, what is the general consensus of the best way to link 3 Sony PMW-350K cameras if I don't have tri-level sync? 1. Feed the first camera with my timecode (SB2a -- just timecode, no tri-level sync) and from there each camera feeds the succeeding one with both timecode and sync signal. 2. Let the first camera be the sync master, feed the others as above and feed the timecode out from the last camera to my Deva. Is there any danger in #1 above, as all three cameras will be locked with each other, or is there is there a chance that feeding the first camera just timecode could cause an issue? It seems to me th…

I googled this a lot but have not found a definitive answer: If you shoot PAL 24p on 5D mark3 and NTFS 24(23.98) on any other hd cam, and both are exact same start/stop times and exact same audio/footage- will there be any difference? My 5D mark3 has PAL and NTFS system settings, and they both offer 24p- is there a difference? What's the difference between PAL 24p and NTFS 24p? I understand PAL is 50hz and NTFS is 60hz, And I get that PAL likes 25fps because it is easily divisible into 50, and NTFS likes 30, or 23.976 with a pull-down because that can be divided into 60. But 24 into 50? Are the base times (50, 60) no longer an issue in HD? If there …

Hey wondering if anyone has worked with the new digital Bolex. Seems like more of a toy than a real production camera. [arbitrary spinning wheel control]. Looking for experiences / successful work flows for getting usable audio into camera- I found the meters a little weird to use. [initially lining up -20] With an internal SSD and no playback function, Ill have to wait until tomorrow to hear about the results.

Some time ago I had written this "one-sheet" spreadsheet for all the digital cameras I've worked with, to help me identify what the I/O was across all of them, which helped me greatly in planning workflow and making/packing the right cables. Since it is a common question, I've decided to strip some of my personal notes, and upload it to GDrive to share with anyone who would like to have a copy. You can make a copy to your GDrive, or download it as an Excel Spreadsheet and modify it as you please. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0At6zXkYwWUhDdGFzMm5iUkJqTmVMeHcxTDdrT0NNLUE&usp=sharing Cheers, José

Starting new project. I was just informed that video going to be all wireless. Systems that i have not worked with before. Either HPvideo or Microlite. 5.8ghz systems. HPvideo claims 1ms latency and Microlite claims 120ms. Anybody here have real world experience with these systems? 120 ms- seems like enough to warrant a delay. thanks! john

Let me preface this post with the fact that I have been working on a small documentary piece and was hired to shoot video, stills, as well as capturing audio (yes, that is unfortunate). With our shoot requiring some international travel and thus a smaller footprint, I decided to leave behind our MOVi/C100 stabilization rig in favor of the much smaller DJI Osmo. Doing so allowed me to shoot with the Canon C300, but could also mix in a little stabilization when needed. My question going into the shoot was how practical would it be to do a walk and talk setup while still recording our subjects conversations? I knew that one of my shoo…

Anyone got experience with the DJI Ronin 4D? In particular with the Autofocus (laser) system and the video-tx (2.4 & 5.8GHz)? Any trouble with your audio wireless? I will be using Zaxcom .6 and Zaxnet.

Hello everyone, I was hoping you could do me a big favour... For my final year project at university I made a series of promotional videos using both Digital SLR's and HDV camcorders. In my report I need some secondary research... That's where you guys come in. Basically all I need you to do is watch this video which shows the Canon 7D and the XHA1 in a series of test shots. Then pick which camera you felt performed best overall and why. You'd be helping me out a lot and if there's anything I can do to return a favour I will! Thanks! Tom.

I have a job with a DVX 200 tomorrow. The only other time I worked with this camera, I couldn't get it to read my timecode sent via my sync box. I just read some old posts that said that the camera will not work with tentacle sync or other sync boxes. Is that still the case?

Am about to do feature that may use the new DXL2 camera, it has the Red 8k sensor but they have a much upgraded cooling system so hopefully less problematic. Any user reviews re noise and workflow, audio/tc inputs etc, will be feeding audio and TC from zax ERX. Thanks, Chris.

http://www.macworld....l#lsrc.rss_main Clip: Earlier this year, camera start-up Lytro provided an enticing sneak peek of what their first product could do. Using a light-field sensor—the likes of which had previously only been seen in science labs and supercomputer-connected arrays of hundreds of cameras—the camera could record data about light travelling in every direction through 3D space. In practical terms, that means that the camera's photos can be refocused after they're shot. It's the stuff of sci-fi. The only problem: Lytro only demoed the output of their light-field cameras. The device itself, its price, and the details about everything in between w…

Dear all, we're going to shoot in kind of extreme environmental conditions in the next months. So perhaps you can help me. How do you decide which camera to use? At which criterias/parameters are you looking at? In most data sheets I can only find the paramters temperature and humidity. What about dust and rain protection(I can't really find IP-classes or stuff like that)? And also when it comes to transport and storage. I'm thinking about really hot temperatures in a car or damaged streets so that the camera get's shaked a lot. Did you ever had problems with stuff like acid rain in industrial places? What abut going from warm into cold places and vi…

The Client and Producers were all a bit upset today as the monitors they were watching were so badly out of/behind sync the sound on their Comtecs that they had to stop using them. Does anyone know any way I can delay the sound only using a 744T and a 442 in a portable rig? The dialogue goes out of the 442 into a lectro IFB transmitter. Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a way to speed up the image being outputted from the Epic into two LCD monitors? Even after proving that there was no delay in the sound and that the monitors oe Epic were behind, they still didn't believe me. Lucky the Clients and Producers were close enough to hear without using…

Tomorrow I have a day working with an Epic and a Scarlet and I will need to jam TC for the first time, using a 744 as master. Production are providing two ambient lockit boxes. Having read through the manuals of the 744, the lockit, the REDs and many threads here I have come up with the following: 1) Set 744T to Correct TC Frame Rate (24FPS) and TC Mode to 24 Hour Run. 2) Put batteries in Lockit. 3) Set Lockit to 24FPS (TC>24FPS) 4) Set Lockit Sync to Off - NO GENLOCK TO RED?! 5) Set Lockit to JamTC Manual/Once (GEN>JamTC>manual/once) 6) Connect Lockit + 744T > Lockit should Jam to 744T. (Cable: 5 pin lemo > 5 pin Lemo). 7) Disconnect Locki…

Just putting a scratch track down to camera, and finding it's too low at line level, and too hot at mic level - any thoughts? How are most people running there ERX's?
