Howdy all, So in my quest to find a reasonable costing solution to tuning a room (after treating it of course) Chris over at vintage king suggested this software. Has anyone used it before? If so what were your results? http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/arc/

Hey Guys, I'm increasingly being asked by one of my clients for delivering a 2.1 stereo mix, but also with separate stems for dialogue and music/effects... How normal is this? And anyone know why they might want it? For me I find it a right pain tbh! Any thoughts? Thanks

Dear all, I need to sync video with audio WAV (scratch audio on channel 1 and LTC on channel 2). I have been advised on this forum to use da Vinci Resolve. It works, but unfortunately the audio files is trimmed to the exact duration of the video clip. This is not appropriate in our documentary setting where audio starts before and ends after video, providing very valuable material. Does anyone know how to circumvent this problem, ie to sync while keeping the full length audio, in Resolve (v12), or other tools?

I'm not really sure if there is a way to fix this but that's why I'm posting here. So my audio is out of sync with my image because I was shooting with the sony fs-700 at 24p (lav mic going into the sony) and forgot to switch over my odyssey 7Q recorder to 24 so it stayed at 29.97. I transcoded the footage with the audio to 23.98 it's synced but the pitch is way off. An audio friend of mine used protools to try and normalize the pitch but it still sounds a little off. Anybody else have any ideas on how to fix it? Below is a link to dropbox to download the footage and audio if you would like to give it a shot. Any help is greatly appreciated! https://www.…

Does anyone know how to view or keep the names of the audio tracks, within a polyfile, in an editing sequence in Premiere pro? I am on a job where the editor is on location, and when I went to check in, I saw that in the editing sequence all the audio tracks were named a1,a2,a3.....rather than the names I put in the recorder boom 1,boom 2, lav henry.....

Hello everyone, I'm working on an environmental documentary mix and the editor/director did not include all the audio feeds into the timeline edit and resulting AAF. So I am trying to reconstruct the edited version of audio and replace the Lav Feed with the Boom. So I have all the original source RAW interviews that were recorded on location copied onto Temp tracks in the project. Is there any way to "match" by waveforms in Pro Tools 12HD? This would be similar to the way PluralEyes and Premiere Pro matches audio by analyzing waveforms. Ideally, I'd like to pull up some sort of plugin window, select my "Source" samp…

Is there post tech available that allows word and phrase searching in audio files? My initial thought is the time consuming method of real time siri transcription etc. no transcripts done of this audio unfortunately.

I've always used free run code to jam slate an camera Did a 2 day job with an Red Epic but editor says she cannot auto sync?? If the free run code could be seen as a "time" what's the problem? Epic menu is not my forte nor the camera teams strength either! I know there is time-code and edge code so how can I make this work next time. Done dozens of shoots and a feature on 2 x Alexas without a problem So help and advice appreciated Cheers mike

Just in case someone needs it, automatic ducks is now free. The guys now work for Adobe. The software allows you to transfer OMF files into Final Cut Pro. On the post side of my career documentaries are what head my way and being able to move OMF files in and out of FCP is very useful! Happy Downloading http://www.automaticduck.com/products/download/

Hey everyone! I know this will probably be contentious so I will start by saying that in a perfect world post production shouldn't be using 'automix' BUT is there a similar plugin or system to how the Sound Devices Automix or Dugan Automix works for post production? Sometimes I get a bunch of ISOs and I need to get out a clean mix quickly. There's not the time for going through and automating all the ISOs. Recently, I've been running tracks through my 633 in realtime and recording back in the Automix. But since this is a digital process it has to exist in some plugin form. I know Waves has it but only for live production desks as far as I can see. I've tried using sidecha…

Is it possible to batch autosync sound and video using timecode in Premier Pro CS6? I know this can be done in Avid and FCP. There seem to be a merge clip with timecode function in Premier Pro, but this only lets you sync one at a time. What I would like to know is of there is a way to batch sync the files. Sammy Huen

Avid has a new CEO as of yesterday. Earnings announcement later this month. "Could Hernandez’ appointment, made by the company’s Board of Directors, spur a turnaround at Avid, manufacturer of the industry standard DAW (by a landslide) and the crucial core of many, many music studios, film and TV audio post suites, and live venues? Well maybe – but seeing how Avid is steadily sinking, there may not be a whole lot Hernandez can really do." http://www.sonicscoop.com/2013/02/11/avid-switches-ceos-will-louis-hernandez-turn-it-around/

Hi folks. Would love anyone's 2 cents concerning how long do you reckon the Omni will be supported and what may come along to replace it? I'm really contemplating going HD Native and it would suit my I/O needs fine, but it's been out there for a good while. Thanks!

Hey does anyone else have an AVID S3 controller board? The 16th fader just malfunctioned and just pegs the fader at +12 (you actually hear a thunk when it does it). Has anyone else experienced this? What's so annoying is that the board is less than 2 years old. I tried resetting EuControl but to no avail. I also powered off the machine and rebooted my system thinking that perhaps the driver was being wonky. After a bit, you can hear the motor in the fader buzz just a bit, then the fader pegs back up to +12 again Thanks!

Hello All, So I'm noticing a weird thing in EuControl when trying to create a layout and assign tracks to it for my S3? Let me preface by saying I run on Windows. I'm able to pull up EuControl from the S3 (Shift + Sel). EuControls Sees Protools (I have my session open with the track's I'd like to add in the Assign page). But in EuControl's Assign tab all channel strips (1-16) which are by default set to auto assigned, won't let me change them. If I click on the dropdown nothing happens! (I have display applications track numbers checked). Further, if I switch to the Layouts tab, it won't let me name my Layout. If…

So apparently my system's upgrade and support renewal didn't go through in September. Never received an email or anything about the card being declined. I'm just now finding out about this 6 months later when I opened an old mix project to re-mix it into another format and the pro-expander/compressor wouldn't load.. Now AVID says because I didn't update in a timely fashion (wihtin 30 days) I have to pay the full price for reinstatement (an extra 500 bucks). You'd think they'd have some customer loyalty since I've been using their software since PT7. Beware corporate greed. Disgraceful.

Hey all, I've started another topic quite recently, and I love the responses. But this is a more specific question. I've been doing some sound editing in Pro Tools, and been having some problems in trying to crossfade various shots. I can't seem to avoid pops and clicks. The room tone in question is a lot of tough indoor air conditioning/ventilation/central air kind of noise. In one scene, I attempted noise reduction and this seemed to make room tone much easier to both find and crossfade between different clips from different angles. But I don't think you're supposed to do these smoothing-outs after noise reduction? Ideally, it would go to a rerecording mixe…
