fishing

davidhusby

I was knee deep, with a recorder over shoulder and my favorite stereo mic inhand while recording the surf in the Bahamas. In the water there was a fish, on it's side like a flat fish as the water rolled in, and swiming upright as it rolled out. I couldn't resist the primal urge to catch it. Having read the SAS manual on tickling fish, I knew to strike fast just in front of the tail fin with thumb and index finger. After a few happy snaps, I sent it back and it was fine. That last part I regret. My favorite sushi chef, knew what species it was from my describing it's unusual swimming. "Very delicious" he says. Next time I take a bite before it swims away.
