  1. I thought I'd add this gem. Why be a boom op when you can pretend to be one. 85 bucks to stand around seems like a deal when the mixer has to bring equipment and only get paid 140. 2. This whole video kills me. Essentially every single craigslist poster is this drama.
  3. I'm getting into the business. If anyone needs their xlr cables optimized I can do so for a modest fee. For an extra fee I can add these Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Unless you are an expert in the particular item you are collecting I wouldn't count on it being investment worthy. All it takes is a transformer to be non original and the perceived value plummets. With vintage guitars every wire, tuner, screw matters. I would advise to collect as a hobby and if the things you acquire appreciate in value it's an added bonus. It is impossible to forecast what items will become true high ticket items. I worked at a rock n roll memorabilia shop and it is the things that were never meant to be collected that become the most valuable due to scarcity. Combine that scarcity with future demand and bam we've got a hot ticket. Even with vintage guitars the bubble has burst. Some stuff comes in and out of vogue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Firstly, I hope this is in the right section. I know a lot of green individuals to the field have asked about vintage gear and its suitability to use in the field. I notice that a lot of the users have anecdotal evidence of their trusty 416T still working for example. Something that I have never seen discussed is the fact that some of these old mics have been kept in rotation for their whole lifespan which to my knowledge is part of why they are still ticking. This is just a theory on my part, I'm pulling from my experience with vintage 60s/70s Fender guitar amps. I've seen 50s amps playing great with minimal to no service because they've been continuously played and used for their lifespan. Also, to my knowledge by using them and have current go through caps it helps slow their deterioration to my understanding. Just my observation. If someone has a more technical understanding I'm all ears. But as I see it it's just another reason to plug in those old mics once in a while. -Dan
  6. I'm getting switchcraft locking plugs from mouser, and the rest from markertek.com. They have really good prices on Canare quad cable. Thanks for reminding me of digikey. I want to try doing as much in one batch order as possible. adding the USB functionality would be pretty easy, just a 5v voltage regulator.
  7. First post, Hi everybody. I'm in the process of building my own BDS. Looking at the price of all the parts included it's still pretty pricey Probably like 1/3 the price. Especially considering if I have to source some of these connectors from multiple vendors. That's not including any fuses or filtering if I decided to add it. To each their own.
