  1. Working on that Laurence, once I get the other computer fixed, also I will have to wait till this episode of Mr. Young airs so I don't give the story away. Phil
  2. Had the Go-Pro 3 Black mounted right on the shock mount on the Fisher 7 for a few hours on one of our last days on Mr. Young. The executive producer was cool with this. " What are you going to do with the footage" he asked ? "Educational purposes only sir" I replied. This is a short shot but you will get the idea of this pov with the mic in the shot. My main computer is down right now, something on the motherboard went south so trying to do any video editing on the laptop (12 years old) is painful to say the least. 3. Didn't know about that model Philip but here is one for sale just $3200.00 http://visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail02.asp?productID=665&Cat=17&Cat2=31
  4. The reflection doesn't look real to me, the way it fades off on the far left side of this still. Could you grab and post the video of this shot. If it is real, what gets me is there must be 20 or more people all watching monitors and no one see this. I don't watch this show and don't know if this is a permanent set or not, if it is permanent the boom operator (s) should know where they will have problems with reflections and work that out.
  5. A short documentary about Redwaan, a projectionist in South Africa, he had worked for 24 years as a projectionist but has been in the projection booth since he was 7. I came across this short about a year ago and was very touched by his story. Philip Bloom: "Film is sadly dead now. This breaks my heart – it has been so important to me growing up and basically is the reason I am doing now what I am doing. This film captures the last dying heartbeats of a magical thing and the joy and sadness of a man who symbolises the love that we have for this wonderful thing called film. I hope when people watch this they will remember what seeing a movie on film actually was like and how special it was. Most of us won’t ever see a film projected on 35mm ever again. That is terribly sad thing." Phil "KJR"
  6. AZW : Well your short movie is "out there" nice job. Philip : Did you have the 400ft mag ? I couldn't afford the stock or the lab fees at the time so I never got to use it. I did a 3min: finished timelapse B&W once, no intervalometer, every frame by hand x 4 10min: loads, swore I would never do that again. Here is a picture of a Rex5 / H16 apart Phil "KJR"
  7. $35,000 seems very low for 90:min. I also have fond memories of the H16 I bought in the 80's, 400ft mag. motors, 12 to 120 lens etc. I only put a couple of 100ft loads in it and realized how expensive this hobby was going to be ( film stock, lab and transfer fees) My plan was to shoot stock footage and sell it later. I sold it to a film student for more than I paid for it. The camera was like new when I bought it,and like new when I sold it. Phil "KJR"
  8. I bet he had some great stories to tell.
  9. Just to add to this : If there is a rumble in the boom and it is making it to the production track, why is the operator not hearing this and more important, why is the sound mixer not hearing this ? Phil "KJR"
  10. In 3 years and 6 Fisher 7 arms, we have never had any rumble sounds make it up to the mic, I'm using a Sennheiser MKH 60 in the mount with the low cut filter in (-18db/ below 50 hz) Many times I have to do a very fast resets either a fast pan with the arm or a telescopic to maximum / minimum length. The only noise I could get was" wind noise" which was overcome by pointing the mic backwards on the travel time till I got to my next actor. I would be interested in hearing the sound file as well if you want to email it to me ve7kjr1@yahoo.com And let us know what model Fisher is being used arm length and mic used. Phil "KJR"
  11. That's why we do the things we do,,, we love it.
  12. And a video of the Mr. Young rig working a live shoot. Too answer some of your questions? Yes I talk to myself,, it helps Two Fisher 7's working the set, I play ping-pong with the actors, the other fisher is working a more set position. The audio you hear is the camera mic which is mounted right next to a major pulley system with cord running and doing it's thing, Cords are 2.5 years old and have never broken. You will see me watching the quad split a lot, not just for me but for my other opp who is very new to this game and did a great job. Thanks to Glen Trew for the baseball cap,, keeps them dam lights out of me old eyes. And yes I do like to wear a tie when we have a live show, just like the old days . At the end I have a very fast reset and have to drop right over the other arm to get the line I needed,I have four words to make it there all the way out at the far end of the set for me. This shot is only a test from the go-pro.The video I want to do is more of the mechanics of it working. Just thought you might like to see one in action mode. 13. Here is the office from season 1 of Package Deal. This is our biggest set, you see the whole back wall is all windows, we've shoot everwhere on this set, even up an down the stairs which is a lot of fun, It takes two Fisher 7's to work this set, both with 26ft. arms. I think the longest scene we did on this set is 8 pages 7 actors, and lots of walks and talks and 200 people sitting behind be. I just love doing a scene like that. I think our biggest day was 39 pages. I've been running at go-pro 3 black on my rig at Mr. Young for the past two shows, I haven't had time to cut anything together yet, lots of cool shots even a shot of the colored lines for Mr. Perkins. I promise ! This shot,, I went in on a day of at lunch time and took over the set with a little help from the lighting dept. Just thought some of you might enjoy this still. Phil "ve7kjr"
  14. "Dan Berlin, @ "Two and half Men". Just noticed the arm # 292, I have # 293 on Mr.Young. Phil
  15. Found a video of Jan McLaughlin on the red carpet on youtube. Have you seen this Jan?
  16. Thanks for posting these notices Richard, I always take the time to read them, but I'm loving " Evolution of the Mike Boom" ! Phil
  17. I meant like a serial number # 125 or #253 ETC. That way you should be able to track it down. It would be very cool if fisher had a log book for every arm, showing every show it was on,build date ETC. I started to keep a log of the Serial #s of the different arms and bases that I have worked with just for fun. Did your rig ride in this truck ?
  18. Do you know the arm # Kevin, be interesting to know if this boom is still around and working. And what you got on the end ? Thanks for posting. Phil 73

    Revox B77

Thanks for the imput guys, I will look on line and see what is out there, and thanks for the studer email link Marc. The sad part is that a network I use to work for would have had tons of parts, but that is all in the garbage now. Phil

    Revox B77

Just inherited a Revox B77 from a neighbour, saw it years ago and told him if he ever wanted to get rid of it,just let me know,,,well that day has come. spent about 4 hours taking it all apart with a friend who use to maintain 40 at one time "radio" so he knew it inside out, we had it tore apart reel good. Every step of the way we were both surprised as to how good a condition this machine was in,,, manufactured date is July 1984. We both knew this machine had very very little time on it. Not even the pots had any noise on them. Only three things broken, the belt for the counter, and two toggle switches from the front panel, I would like to replace with same if anyone knows of a good source of Revox parts. Anyone else ever had a B77 or worked with one back in the day ? BTW the B77 is 28 years old. Phil (VE7KJR)
