  1. Thanks for the infos! luckily it’s for short takes. But even than, I guess, the accuracy is not very high with just tc, (just Frame accurate, but not sample...) so they might be several samples off I guess, right?
  2. Hi, i‘m looking For a way to sync the Tc of a mix pre 6 to a 788t, or the other way around. (or if there’s another way but tc I would be interested to). i guess I need a tc generator that will feed both... right? Or can the 788 give out its internal tc and I can feed it into the mix pre 6? which solutions are out there? all I want is to have these both units in perfect sync to each other later in the post. (No picture in the workflow! Just the 2 machines.) 788 and mixpre are right beside each other.. so no Wireless really needed... thanks!

    deva4 or nomad..?

hey, everything is fine, your comments are allright. you don´t have to try to help more, but thanks a lot so far! of course i know the guys from luftrausch. and of course ambient is NOT renting the nomad.. as zeigermann is not renting them, too.. so there is no place in germany right now.. this forum is not the first place i got to with my considerations.. its the last, so to say..:-) so, we can surely close here, the only thing thats left open, maybe someone from germany would like to rent their nomad to me for a day:-) PM me than..

    deva4 or nomad..?

chris, thanks for the kind words, i think you nailed it there. my problem is, that there is no nomad to rent in germany.. and no one seem to own it, or if they do, they use it and can not send.. so i have to make a decission without testing.. unusual for me.. and than i wrote this thread..:-) but enough, i have to find another solution, but not here, so do not worry:-)

calm, boys, everythings allright.. some things might sound wrong out of language issues, sorry if so.. i´m not a native speaker:-) however, carry on, i think the thread deserves to be.. closed?

    deva4 or nomad..?

hey, thanks to everyone here! @christian: maybe i´m looking for something thats not existing:-) and i´m really open to any other suggestion, really! beside that, i really just asked asked in this thread if i oversaw some pros or cons on the two listed machines.. as here in this place are a lot of people who seem to be experts at zaxcom machines, i thought maybe someone comes up with something about the deva or nomad i didn´t even know.. seems not so, and thats a good thing.

    deva4 or nomad..?

well... the price difference between the deva and your fusion is huge:-) dollar to euro is bad right now, so this does not makes sense, at least at the moment for me.. (i could get nearly 2 new nomad lite for the price of this fusion..) beside that, is it possible with the fusion to have the trim on the faders?

    deva4 or nomad..?

yes of course, that would be 12 preamps in total with the ad8, and the setup would get bigger.. but apart from that, than i´m price wise on another level. could look into the new cantar or sx62r.. slightly too expensive:-) apart from that, its not clear when the ad8 will come out. not at all..

    deva4 or nomad..?

Hm, that would be very new, that the limiters still work at 96khz.. I asked sound devices at the end of last year, and it was still like that.. Guess it has to do with DSp power.. edit: i found the email, its from september 2014..: i asked this: Your original inquiry: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Pre sale Question ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi, I just wanted to know, is it really true that the pre ad limiter won't work on the 788 when recording with 96khz? Answer: Yes, the input limiters are disabled when recording at 88.2kHz or above. This is to ensure the 788T has enough processing power to handle these higher sampling rates properly.

    deva4 or nomad..?

The 788s limiters Are Not Working at 96khz or above.. Beside that, the 788 would be much much more expensive than the deva4.. I think at around 5000-6000€ More... And the only things I would gain with the 788 would be that it's not as heavy as the deva and trims on the front... Alright, that are two good points, but the price I would have to pay for this is a bit too much.. The pres I would consider in the same quality league (deva4 and 788..) The new sonosax recorder: it just has 4preamps...:-(

    deva4 or nomad..?

with 3 pre amps? i don´t think so.. appart from that, the 6er series from sound devices has not that clean preamps in it as the 7er series.. one more thing, i totally forgot about this discussion i initiated..: there, one user said that the nomad has a lowpass, even at 96kHz, at around 20kHz.. a big "cons" for the nomad if that is true.. now i remember why i wanted to test it.. but there is no one wanting to lend/rent it to me..
  12. hi, i have to decide what to buy. a new nomad lite, or a deva4 (with built in cf card instead of harddisk, machine runtime about 750 hrs). the price difference is around 1200€. (nomad is more expensive, of course..) i´m doing field recording, so this would be mainly used for recording sound effects and ambiances. i need at lleast 96kHz, and 5 preamps. the more the better, but thats just the basics i definetly need. i don´t really need to mix anything.. i need iso tracks where i set the trim.. now the pros and cons seem to be clear to me, but i´m writing this to this group to see if i miss anything here.. deva4 pros: touchscreen (i like the user interface very much) costs less can do 192kHz cons: i don´t like the limiters.. do they even work? i have to try them again... weight. this unit is heavy, and when carying it around it can be hurtfull.. trim is in a sub menu, and i can´t control it with the hardware faders.. nomad: pros: smaller.. can be important when having it in a back when travelling around.. weight! weights much less than the deva.. i can control the trim with the hardware faders never clip zaxcom says that the preamps are better than on the deva.. any comments on this? cons: can not do 192kHz is more expensive 0f course it depends on my own weighting of whats important to me, you don´t need to help there, but maybe someone has any more reasons for the pro and cons, and why to choose the one over the other unit.. something i just oversee.. thanks a lot!
  13. thanks to all! so it is possible, but just with the experimental firmware.. but.. when saying experimental firmware, what could be the flaws? minor things? or loosing entire recordings?
  14. hi there, can someone bring some light into this.. when recording just to 6 iso tracks with 6 channels, is it possible to have the trims from the channels on the faders of the unit? or do you have to use this "auto mix "feature to trim a certain channel? i remember that when the nomads came out, the trim on the faders were not possible.. but now i heared that it is.. has it really changed? did not understood the manual there, sorry! (an never had the nomad in my hands..:-()
  15. i´m happy that it can do 192kHz! allthough the manual states that it just can do 96kHz... better have more features than advertised than less:-)
