  1. Really nice work on the second version, looks like it came that way. If it was black anodized to match I would think the company made it, def a nice part.
  2. That looks like a pretty nice tool overall. I have read that if you use enloops you get not only much longer use time but also much more even consistent heating from beginning to end without it getting too hot.
  3. Thanks for the info guys, I was just wondering if some type of update could change the way they work, as many have said the Limiters are not as good at some things as the old and yes I know the limiters are analog that is def a good thing along with the clean mic pres is the reason I may get one, plus I have the original MixPre and that has the old style limiters which I always liked. So I guess I could use that with it if I ever really needed to. At least they fixed all the other issues that have been reported it seems ...
  4. I thought this might be the right section to ask this question. I have seen many on the web talking about how the analog limiters on the MixPre 3-10 series have some odd issues with the way the limiters work and react with some long release times that can cause strange pumping when trying to record loud sounds in comparison to the the way they work and sound on other older SD gear. Have others on here had this issue and if so has this been fixed? I would think and hope they should be able to fix that via firmware update if it is still an issue as I know they have always been known to have some top notch limiters that due wonders when recording SFX like gunshots and other loud sounds, and would think they would want to continue to do so? Does anyone have info on this?
  5. These do look quite nice anyone test these out yet? Any pics of how they work showing the inside assembly. I see very little info avail.
  6. Cool looks nice, can we see a side view as well?
  7. No problem man, glad my post was a help, Better late then never I always say :-)
  8. I know I am way late on this but just in case anyone else has the same issue, that style of knob was used on a lot of DOD, and Rane audio gear and has an insert, that insert cap can be lined up any way you need independently from the shaft position, I had a whole bag of those around 12 years ago. The knob on the right looks like the same one used on My MixPre which I believe you can't change the position on. Just in case anyone still needs the exact knobs mentioned in this post that are used by many audio companies, and maybe hard to find locally, please check my link. http://www.ehcknobs.com/index.php?id=KC
  9. SmallRig makes very HQ CNC machined gear at a very reasonable price for what you get, they will also work with ideas you may have to make the product better, if one feels it needs it, if the idea is accepted and it gets made they will send you one of the working proto-types. I did a re-design on a bracket for a Small HD Mon that got accepted and they sent me one, very cool company that really does listen.
  10. Thanks ya just a little closer, and in english :-)
  11. Hey Frido thanks for the info on the holder, I will check that out.
  12. That looks very nice, can you tell me where you got the silver xlr holder who makes it? or is that something you made ...
  13. I know this is older but just in case someone revisits this topic, then this seems to be a pretty good test of just how the system my perform in a real world test. Seems pretty good for the cost of it, and the sound quality it seems to have well for DSLR use seems like an option. This shows an interference and soundq test inside and outside, however this vid I feel suffers from YouTube audio compression. The second test from BH is a higher quality encode so is prob a better comparison of the actual sound quality that can be expected. Has anyone compared the System 10 to the Rode Link?
  14. Interesting Idea, but I would think it might stress the XLR connection at the base after a while of use because of the length of a Switch-Craft connector and it being directly plugged in. Just a thought. Cool DIY though.
  15. This site does in fact use its mobile theme to show a simple format of the site on a mobile device, however Google does not like what it sees because its not correctly switching when Googlebot grabs it for the test, I have tested this on many sites including some I developed and they pass, my sites that pass use PHP to detect and redirect to the mobile versions, maybe IPS is using a JS based script or something not truly server side. I find the Google test passes no problem when the detection is done with a PHP based detection just a thought as to what could be the issue but I do not know for sure. I don't use IPS and dont know what it uses to detect a mobile device. Might want to contact the devs at IPS and bring this to their attention. because it means that Google will not give the site a mobile friendly flag in its index even though we see it does switch to the mobile version on a phone or mobile device.
  16. Ya amazing, but do make sure you get the one starting at 10 grand it does everything and then some, emptying your wallet is one of the main features :-) http://store.apple.com/us/buy-watch/apple-watch-edition
  17. I meant in comparison to what they make currently, I do not mean at the level of an SD or any of the field recorders at that level. Seems like it may be some comp for the Tascam gear like a DR-680 however.
  18. Can't blame you there, I still have Macs with drives, as I do like the build quality and engineering put into Apple products for the most part, but do not like the fact there is no physical drive. Also hat the fact everyone want you dl the product info what happen to a large booklet that had all the info on what you just bought and how to use it, remember those days. No if you wnt that you must dl it waste your own paper and print it out.
  19. I know about the whole DVD thing I am a collector so I want to own and I do own the physical discs I can't put a digital download in my collection on my shelves, if I cant look at it open the artwork and info then I don't want it, when we collected records we had all this awesome artwork, Pink Floyd, Yes, they all took a lot of time to create this, now the section with all the extra info in modern discs is empty, but the clips are still molded in to the boxes, in my opin they can keep there digital downloads I only want the physical Blu-Ray or DVD ... I still collect DVD's but I do try and get a lot of the really good ref stuff on Blu like King Kong that Blu looks amazing. Call me old school but nothing my opin compares to the pic on an a calibrated Panasonic Plasma set putting some discs in my Oppo and watching a good movie with great sound and dialog quality on a full sys, none of this o il just watch it on my tablet as so many do today, for me I want the real deal, dont get me wrong I like Netflix thats great that replaced Cable on my Roku for me but I only watch that on my plasma I do not use there service for handheld devices sorry movies were meant to be seen on a full size screen not some little handheld device, but subscribing to services like adobe no thanks not gona happen plus i dont like that it must call home what happens if you need to work and your internet is out and it goes to do its check with no conection to a server then what. you should not need a connection to the net to design something. I am completely against that model, subscriptions like Netflix at 8 bucks for movie streaming only as a replacement for overpriced cable is one thing but subscription to run my software, not on my watch. But common Tractors I hope the farmers get to together and revolt against it. People today must make sure the big companies don't get away with this nonsense period, the reason adobe can even do what they are doing is because many have allowed it, If you did not buy into it they would have no choice but to sell discs or close the doors that's how it works if they make no money sold no subscriptions or very few, that's it they are done. but many have bought into it so they stay in business again they would all be out of business if we never again bought there stuff. As you know their is power in numbers. Never let the big guy step on the little guy or its all down hill from there, they soon forget it is the little guy who made them the big guy. The public spoke up against the Comcast deal and well we see how that worked out, the DOJ listened the politicians listened, I got several letters back from politicians when I was involved with the fight against it, so it can work but we must fight for our rights or we will slowly loos them to huge companies who only care about their bottom line, not you or me.
  20. True but it looks like some of their newer Zoom stuff shown at NAB is aimed at a more pro level, take the new F8 for example. It looks impressive but what will the preamp's sound like, what will it cost? no idea but it is def a whole new direction for them.
  21. This seems a little ridiculous, its bad enough adobe wants you to endlessly pay for there cloud based programs instead of actually owning the real CD sorry I will use the CD version till it self destructs. And now this they are out their minds I hope all the farmers don't buy there stuff and make em go under from lack of sales so they are forced to think about what they are doing, these big companies forget that without us the end user they wouldn't have a nickle. They would all be selling hot dogs to make a buck. Pretty soon if we let em get away with all this we will not own a thing, Cant happen as it is don't get me started with the DRM crap I think its all crazy, it gets hacked as soon as they alter the encryption anyway. The only one it stops is the end user who tries to play said Blu-Ray on their older machine as many don't and cant play on some machines because of the encryption changes. Big companies like Comcast trying to take over the world well its been a long fight but we won that one. They lost because the public got involved in mass petitions both on the net and at there offices in NYC, have to fight all these guys show em they cant just do what they want DOJ also made sure on that one. Now farm equipment you don't own because of protected computer based software running the sys what are they smoking they can keep it. If you buy a tractor I am sorry but ya you got to actually own that, or tell em I don't want it. I had a friend who was an engine head, ya try and tell him o im sorry you cant mod that engine, these corp idiots and their law firms like to take the fun out of everything. I say don't buy that tractor then and when sales drop to low levels they will think twice about the stupid idea. Need to hit these big companies where it hurts in their wallets otherwise they could care less. Im a cable cutter ROKU and Netflix the way to go as I will not pay their crazy fees and if more did what I am doing which many now are then cable TV would be a lot cheaper or they would not be able to exist again we the consumer are who allowed them to become what they are. If they dont have any subscribers what happens? They lower the cost or close the doors show em who's boss don't buy there stuff simple as that. They all need to remember this.
  22. Better yet maybe pelican can design a line of cases that works like an ammo box lid, then you can just pop the lid to the side and it comes off, maybe they never thought of that but if done correctly might be a good idea. Maybe someone should mention it to them.
  23. Not only that I think they may be using a bird to deploy said weapon, I thought I heard them say a Pelican.
  24. I think if you made it to this part of the forum you are indeed sponge worthy :-)
  25. Great name ... O I can see it now, DP talking about cam with some crew, hey we have the RED Weapon for this job! Flight attendant overhears chat, tells air marshal I think they are planing something with some type of weapon, we know what happens next ... Sir could you please drop the peanuts and come with me :-)
