  1. There are people on here who have English as their 2nd 3rd or 4th language. Needlessly calling something a transmitter or referring to the function of something as transmitting is unnecessary. Do I need to copy and paste the email from Zaxcom that says it won't do this?
  2. Transmits is a bad choice of words when you are talking about a mic output. A beginner reading this is going to think there is some transmit function in an aes42 device.
  3. When you say aes42 "always transmits 2 channels" , are you saying the Zax transmitter always transmits 2 channels? The mic doesn't transmit anything.
  4. Hi Deian, I have this exact setup. Mine is dsp 1. But, I use the high cut on the transmitter. I have listened to that in post a lot. I think it sounds great. You mention gain on the trans, do you not change that? Whoa. Wait. I don't think you can send both the dsp and non dsp via 743. Are you sure your doing this? How? The aes42 cone is not stereo. What does "filters off" mean? You have thrown me another loop with inputting it into an SD, and not a Zaxcom. That will be the wild card in this discussion. I've never done that. But, hmm. There is a misprint in the original 788T manual, that I discovered, and SD was going to rewrite that. It was an aes42 mistake. Maybe that is part of the problem? I also notice you have another high pass in the mixer? Hmm. Ok, let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Sincerely, Martin
  5. Iron, Did you change modes back and forth in order to figure out the anamorphic tie in? Thank you, Martin
  6. Well, I have a pelican that my mixer bag travels in. When I pull old batts(AA) out, I stick them in my back pockets. (DONT use my system for 9 volt batts. There are no 9 volts in my work.) The new batts are just piled into the front pouch of the mixer bag. If for some reason I need to go over with several new AA's, they go in front pockets, which are empty of keys, etc. But I almost never have to change more AA's than I can hold in my hand, and the mixer bag is usually right in front of me. When I get back to the pelican case I empty my pockets of the old batts. As far as mixer battery goes, I have 3 main batts that I use. I can go about 4.5 hours if I'm running 7 wireless. But usually, I just swap at lunch. The battery are numbered, 1 2 , and 3. I start day 1 with battery 1. I start day 2 with battery 2, etc. This way I'm not over using the first batt and under using the 2nd and 3rd batts. I do the same cycling, or try to, with the little ZMT batteries. Sometimes, if its convenient, I will car charge some of the zmt batteries, so there is less to do in a hotel room that night. Ok, that's about it. Oh, and in the slate, I do use rechargeables there. They last about 3 days per charge. Thanks, Martin
  7. Hi Frode, well, I think Glenn nailed it when he said pixel could be a db. Where you're sitting or standing could make a db difference. If you were right here in front of me, I would want to see what you're looking at, yes. I'm just not sure at this point if there's much to see. Thank you, Martin
  8. Frode, In your description you mention "electronics". I'm pretty sure you meant Lectrosonics. I'm an all Zaxcom guy, but aren't Lectro antennas BNC connectors? If they are, How did you plug them into a Zaxcom? What length were both antennas cut to? Thank you, Martin
  9. JCC, Hi, There is a zero percent chance that radio shack has it. Gotham might, I'm not sure. I might have it, I know have the connector for Zaxcom, because I'm a Zaxcom guy. See if Gotham has it, I guess your in NYC? Send me a private message if they don't have it. Thanks, Martin P.S., When you mentioned replacing the "joint" what were you talking about? M.W.
  10. JCC, are you a solderer? If so, I would simply replace the power plug on the receiver. That may easily fix the problem, you would only have down time of a few minutes, and it's just a few dollars. Thanks, Martin
  11. Constantin, "more significantly" because of? I want to make sure I'm not missing something here. Also, that Neumann mic must have some serious downside, no one seems too excited about that one. Sincerely, Martin
  12. Hello, And then there's the Schoeps 2U at a whopping 170ma. 7.7 times the power used of the DPA. Thanks, Martin
  13. Tony, As far as the spacing goes, I have done experiments with the spacing and you can pack them in really tight. When I 1st started using 96, I would scan and it would put me right next to the frequency that was right before or one of the other ones I had already scanned and had entered in the previous transmitter scans. I felt like I was in a Money Python skit because I feel like I should be asking the receiver in a thick British accent "Are you serious about that frequency, really, you kant be serious". But it works great. But I still sit there and look at the frequencies and go man that's close. Sincerely, Martin
  14. Hello, I like both. I use z96 mostly. Maybe you should try doing what I should try doing. You get on set, hand the P.A. one of each, tell Aruly, "hey go walk for 2 minutes, then come back." All the while watching the meters, see what it says. Does anybody dislike my idea? Thanks, Martin
  15. Hello, You may have one the hardest question of the year award. Sincerely, Martin Hello, You may have one the hardest question of the year award. Sincerely, Martin
  16. Hello, I thought it was the reverse of this, TC then UB. Sincerely, Martin
  17. And as long as your not putting too much power into the amplifier.
  18. Daniel, It has been my experience, when working with British crews, they know Zaxcom backwards and forwards, which was a surprise to me. And I mean as compared to American crews. Apparently Zaxcom is quite popular in the UK. Sincerely, Martin
  19. If people believe the speculation that the banks are about to go out of business and close, That's speculation historically has led to people running on the banks, and subsequently they did fail.
  20. Sorry, I will go fix my post. Thank you, Martin I have changed my comment into the form of a statement instead of a question, so as not to further the discussion about zoom products that the other member started. Thank you, Martin
  21. Zoom is making "professional level equipment" Ha, ha, ha, wee, Good one. Mirror, And it is speculation that drives the market. Sincerely, Martin
  22. GS, The audio is out of sync, adr? You mentioned how they did it when he walked to the van, we don't see his mouth, so we don't know how that was done, in other words it could have been done at a different time since we're not looking at his mouth. For the outside shots, I could do that with an 816. That doesn't seem too hard. In the closing shot when he's walking away from us, again we don't see his mouth. What do you think? Sincerely, Martin
  23. Kyle, I too have a spare Nomad, which most of the time just sits there waiting for something to go wrong, but hasn't happened yet. The problem with that is the time that it would take me to change out the Nomads and reroute everything for my current situation, is much longer than it would take me to grab 3 or 4 XLR cables and plug them into the back of the Nomad. Just that simple act and re routing the XLR's would take a few minutes, but I think that would be a lot less time than changing out Nomads. One of these times when I'm bored in my hotel room maybe I will have a race to see which one takes longer. It might not be as long a difference as I'm thinking it is. Sincerely, Martin
