  1. You could remove the dangly parts of the zippers, and replace them with little knotted ropes/string threaded through the zippers.
  2. What is that black box on the bottom right hand corner? My immediate first guess was a Sound Devices MM1 for the boom op, being feed wirelessly back to you. But then I realised that doesn't look quite right for that... maybe it is a Sound Devices HX-3?? (but doesn't quite quite look right for that either, but is my best guess. Edit: ah ha! It is the Superlux HA3D! As the Superlux has the black end for the battery compartment, vs the silver colored end on the Sound Devices HX-3. How do you like the HA3D? I've considered it a few times myself)
  3. Superslot has been around for a few years, quite a few brands and products are supporting it. Is the nearest thing to "a standard" that we have. Only Aaton and Sound Devices are supporting it with their recorders. (hopefully more brands will join? Although obviously I don't think Zaxcom ever will) Missing Sony? As I'm fairly certain their new Sony DWR-S03D supports SuperSlot. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1508647-REG/sony_dwr_s03d_slot_in_digital_wireless_receiver.html Has it!! Paul Issacs confirmed it. Also can power your antenna: Or drop in a quad channel receiver into the SL-2 for when you need more wireless 😉 Now if only a company would make a quad channel SuperSlot recevier! As the SL-2 supports it.
  4. http://www.sounddevices.com/sl-2-faq/ I know what Santa will be bringing me for Christmas! Fascinating read of the FAQ, is Audio Ltd going to be bringing out a four channel SuperSlot receiver? That would really bring the fight to the Zaxcom Nova as an alternative to Nova with the Zaxcom MRX414 Wish it was stackable (such as with the existing AES accessory) but at least giving four extra channels of AES digital inputs was smart! (If a "SL-4" arrives that *is* stackable, could a SL-2 be put on top of it as the last addition?) Further unknowns: any hints at its price? And hints at its weight?
  5. Yup, I personally feel it is the best at the "no budget" level. However........ I'd say you're screwed! Waaay too low that budget is, too low even for the "no budget" grade. Can't buy new any semi halfway kinda ish decent shotguns at that price. Go for secondhand NTG2, as I'd say secondhand is your only way to stick within your budget. And it seems you already like or at least are "ok with" a NTG2. So go for it! There are a few on eBay within your budget of $150/each Look also for the NTG1, which is identical (but without the internal powering) and at a little bit cheaper price. @Mobilemike how is the noise floor of the Little Gem? (& how is off axis?)

    Deity HD-TX

It was a better choice than alternative choices of "4K-TX" or even "8K-TX"! 😉 Maybe they'll be next year's models? Anyway, I see nothing wrong with having "HD" in a model name? Heck, doesn't Zaxcom have an "HD" somewhere themselves? The ZHD
  7. That sounds like magic! Just curious, now that a fair few years have passed by, and Dante has firmly established itself as a standard for the sound department on film sets as well, is a Venue 3 with Dante coming?
  8. If you can still run a little bit of cable to get receivers closer that is beneficial, if for instance a 30m wireless distance can be turned into a 20m cable run + 10m wireless, then your results would be much better. I wonder if the wireless video systems that FPV drone racers use would be a smart idea? As like us, they don't care about perfect picture quality but range and robustness is instead their highest priority (oh, and small size and battery powered!).
  9. The fact they likely did this just with footage ripped from Netflix just makes this even MORE impressive, as they're missing access to the very large data set ILM was able to draw upon. (as it was filmed with multiple cameras all at once, which was meant to help improve the quality of the CGI in post)
  10. I did post that back in 2018 😉 Well aware of the FX9! A friend has bought one already. Am sure it is only a matter of time until I find myself working with one, glad it has got TC I/O built in without needing the XDCA back that the FS7 required! Agree that the FX9 is likely to be more popular than the expensive C500mk2, but I'm skeptical as to if the FX9 will become as dominant as the FS7 (which is EVERYWHERE!)
  11. They're so cheap to rent though, seems pennywise but poundfoolish to be making cuts there!
  12. Is crazy how some YouTuber did a better job than "the pros". But also not that surprising, often seems to happen with cutting edge technology, the guys getting the big bucks are getting beaten by others.
  13. Certainly is going to be massively easier to be get to the top tier of the search results for the keyword phrase "Sound Mixer Rapid City, South Dakota" than for "Sound Mixer Los Angeles, California" because the average Google PageRank is going to be waaaaaaay lower.
  14. Maybe maybe if the 888 had never came out, then that "middle ground" between the 833 and Scorpio could have had the receiver integration innovation inside it. But as it is, I doubt they can squeeze four separate models within the 8 Series range, just feel like they'd be squeezed into each other's turf a little too much with two much overlap. Where would you put the fourth model? Above Scoprio? Nope. Between Scorpio/888 or between 888/833? Seems unlikely. A model positioned underneath the 833?? Heh, maybe a very compact "822" with 2x XLR inputs plus an Audio Ltd dual reciever built into it (as most jobs are boom + two wireless, and we've got that 2nd XLR input as a spare input for when "surprise" they spring the need for a 3rd wireless onto us) with the ability to use the XL-AES input for additional inputs on top for expansion?? Maybe. Actually, heck, I think I like the idea of this even more than the existing 833! (could be both more compact *and* have a higher track count of 12 channels when needed? Hehe, guess I'm in dream land right now)
  15. Will take much longer than 9-12 months before Sound Devices replaces the 8 Series (a "9 Series"??) with a recorder than integrates Audio Ltd receivers into it. (if that ever happens? They might just stick with, and further improve, the SuperSlot approach) And I can't see any of the other manufacturers (Sonosax/Tascam/Zoom/Roland/Aaton/etc) bringing out a recorder with integrated wireless. (although it would be GREAT if they embraced the SuperSlot standard and integrated them in! Of those manufacturers I just listed, only Aaton is)
  16. Surely willl only be a matter of time until the 664 gets bumped down into the "discontinued" category. Am surprised it hasn't happened earlier! Am sure once the 688 and 633 came out then sales of the 664 tanked (and ditto, sales of the 552 probably tanked once the 664 came out, even more so once the 633 came out). As for most people, either a 633 (for much less!) or a 688 (for only a little more) would have made more sense than a new 664 Likewise for most people the 888 or Scorpio is going to make more sense to buy than a 688 The steady march of progress keeps on going forward! But fear not, if you really want a 688 then I've been seeing them go for bargain prices secondhand! And the longer you can make yourself wait, the cheaper you'll find them 😉 I jumped onto the Wayback Machine to see what it was in 2016: https://web.archive.org/web/20160701025520/http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/891297-REG/Sound_Devices_664_Six_Channel_Portable_Production.html Has only gone up by fifty bucks over a span of several years! That is less than inflation. Maybe Sound Devices should be selling the 664 for even more! haha That is what I've always thought! (ditto selling a 552 for nearly the same price as a 633????? wtf) Doubt they've been selling the 664 in any massive quanties in recent years. Maaaaybe, they've still got a LOT of old stock yet to clear out??
  17. There are a couple of main aspects of SEO: on site SEO, and offsite SEO. Am not surprised if your Wix site has got no inquires if you're done only a little of the former and none of the latter.
  18. Wouldn't be any good though once he returns to Dallas Texas
  19. The best option under $1K is (in my personal opinion, of those I've used) is a Sony UWP-D11. Then put any spare cash into upgrading the lav mics themselves. If I broaden the scope a little to include options I haven't used personally (but I've read / heard reviews of them, and got feedback from friends who love them, etc) then I'd put Deity Connect Wireless near the top of the list to consider as well, plus also of course the Sony UWP-D21 (which are the latest edition of the UWP-D series). If we broaden our range of options even further to consider secondhand deals, then check out 200 and 400 series Lectrosonics. (this is the "upgrade" path I took myself from the Sonys) But do your research thoroughly beforehand, for instance you'll likely want a BDS for your RXs and lots of high quality rechargeable 9V batteries for your TXs
  20. If you haven't updated your 633 firmware in a while you'll need to do this, it was a relatively somewhat recent firmware update.
  21. Oh hell no! The G4 is *not* an upgrade from the Sony UWP! (assuming you've got the UWP-D11 here, or perhaps the new UWP-D21 model) In fact I'd say that to get a G3/G4 would be a moderate half step backwards. Upgrade the lav mic from the stock one, or if you can swing it, get a set of Lectrosonics or Audio Ltd A10
  22. It was about you recommending a product (H4n) which you stated "has timecode", which is disingenuous to say. So if you mind, why do you say it yourself?
  23. So you won’t mind at all if Zoom changes their marketing material to boldly state across all of their advertising for the Zoom H4n that “IT HAS TIMECODE!”... ??
