  1. If you want a cart that folds up for transport, check this out: http://www.rastorder.com.au/product_foldup.htm
  2. I found the Zoom F4 used a lot less power than the F8n. Thus if going for a Zoom F Series, definitely hunt down a Zoom F4 as the lightest weight of them all when it comes to power consumption. My Zaxcom Maxx also always seemed to be fairly minimal in its power demands, not sure if less than an F4 though, perhaps not. Ouch, perhaps not the Zoom F4 then! As it can do four channels, or six in a pinch. Perhaps the Zaxcom Maxx then. None of the 8 Series have AAs internally.
  3. Recorded yesterday an interview with a marketer who produced for a company a promotional app very similar to Pokémon GO (but instead of catching Pokémon, it would be locations where their product was being sold). When I say "very similar", I mean it, this app was a direct rip off but with their products swapped in as the app was there as a marketing angle for their products. Anyway, during the interview he expressed disappointed they were not sued! I mean, it wasn't their primary intention to get sued, but he said a lawsuit would've been very handy for them for the attention it would've got for them! (this was back during peak popularity for Pokémon GO). The same could be said now? Almost nobody knows about the B9audio CM150F currently, but if Schoeps sued them then everyone in the audio world would hear about it.
  4. The MM1 has a dedicated 1/4" input to use for the wireless receiver, and the user has control over its volume.

Why don't you like the iCon Pro Audio Platform M+? (or Sound Devices CL12? Or Sonosax SX-LC8+?) None of these would be hugely more expensive than the Soundcraft GB2R (unlike the pricey Sound Devices CL16), and could even be cheaper overall. The cabling and powering would be massively simpler for you, and you'd have more functionality at your finger tips too. (record / stop / custom keys / etc)
  7. 2x AA Eneloops is always fine! Unless you're basing it on your cart? (or bag?) Then just the usual 12V out of your BDS will be fine. Exactly, if you're planning for it to be worn, don't go even bulkier!!
  8. Probably, if they're like the two earlier Tentacle models, you can charge them and use them at the same time.
  9. That's a great idea, especially as you're located in the Dominican Republic (sunny!). https://ktekpro.com/product/ksh1-stingray-audio-sunhat/ Ask K-Tek if they can do a small run of their hats for you with your Rental House branding on it as well as K-Tek's?
  10. It hasn't been too bad with recent camera releases, for example lately we've got these which are not BNC: ARRI Mini LF (boo!! Inventing yet another new input type for audio 😕 ), RED Ranger/Komodo, and Kinefinity Mavo/Terra series. They're all using Lemo in some form or another. But Sony VENICE/FX9/FX6, Canon C500/C300mk2/C70, Panasonic S1H/GH5S (these use BNC via the OEM supplied cable), Z Cam E2 series (has OEM adapter to BNC, but perhaps shouldn't be included in this list... ), & Blackmagic URSA series all are BNC for timecode. Plus there is the Blackmagic Pocket 4K & 6K which are not BNC, but at least their 3.5mm input is common place / cheap.
  11. Yesterday the new Sony FX6 got announced (which I bet will end up becoming the #1 camera choice for many folks, replacing the dominant #1 market share position that the FS7 has had for years. As like the FS7 before it, this new FX6 hits the sweet spot for a lot of features at a very good price). Of course a lot of discussion online is comparing the Sony FX6 with the cheaper Sony a7Smk3, but one comment in particular stood out to me just now: "this camera will most likely get Netflix certified whereas the A7sIII probably never will." Which instantly made my mind go *click*! Ohhhhhhh........... now I realize why the FX6 has Timecode I/O when the Sony FS5 (and even the stock Sony FS7) never had it! Purely so that they can get the "Netflix Certified" branding, which will do wonders for Sony's marketing. (even though for 99.999999% of us, if a camera is "Netflix Certified" or not should be meaningless. But unfortunately the reality is the Average Joe in their mind seems to make a big deal out of this when considering a new camera purchase) I reckon, if Netflix had never made Timecode a requirement of their certification, then perhaps all these recent camera releases such as the Sony FX6/FX9 & Canon C70 etc would never have had a timecode input? (as Sony FS5/FS7 & Canon C200 etc never did) While on the topic of Netflix preferences: https://partnerhelp.netflixstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000897167-Production-Sound-Recommended-Practices Weird for Audio Ltd to be missing! @Paul Isaacs, might want to lobby Netflix to tweak that & include them? Am sure if the Sound Mixer they want to hire has Audio Ltd (or Shure Axient Digital for that matter), that won't stop them selecting that person. But still, was kinda odd to not see those brands mentioned.
  12. I think a director can spend so long with their film, from the start with the script, through the weeks/months shooting of it, then the many many hours in the editing room, that they end up totally losing the big picture perspective of it. And they no longer can see it "fresh" like someone who hears it for the first time without any prior knowledge. One of the many downsides to this, is that the director knows every syllable of dialogue inside and out, better than anybody else on the planet. Thus if there are issues in audibility with the dialogue, the director might gloss over this as they already mentally "hear" it inside in their own mind 110% perfectly crystal clear as they know the dialogue itself so very very very well.
  13. Max & use your SRc in ratio mode too, if it is with only the HMa transmitter.
  14. In a pinch the 833 can do 10 ISOs if you must (by recording ISOs 9&10 as a couple of the Buses, but of course you can't really include those in the mix with easy though). https://youtu.be/XbMgdz_a1fs
  15. They're far from a monopoly with the way AMD is viciously attacking them.
  16. Why would you say that? I just various negatives for the RodeLink: bulky size, lower mW, poor ergo
  17. Make sure you've updated it to the latest firmware first.
  18. Think because it is only targeted at usage with reporters’ stick mics. Sadly the Zoom F1 is another miniature recorder option which also lacks phantom power.
  19. Tascam DR10X doesn't supply phantom power.
  20. Get a Sound Devices 8 Series and that will redefine what “warm” means!
