  3. More discussion on the LocationSound forum on reddit. Lots of people concerned.
  4. Here’s a press release: Vitec owns Manfrotto, Sachtler, Teradek, Anton/Bauer, Litepanels, SmallHD, and many other brands. Via cereallytho on reddit.
  5. I use a similar technique but with a Neumann U 87.

@Curtis Judd’s review of the F8n has finally dropped:

  8. Just noticed that JWSOUND is now HTTPS-enabled. Thanks @Jeff Wexler!

    Deity Connect.

You could charge up during lunch, thanks to the promised fast charge time. I don’t mean to defend that design decision though.
  10. Sorry you’re experiencing these issues, but this is the first I’m hearing about this part – can you elaborate?
  11. Pre-roll does seem like a relatively simple feature to implement, and it’s strange that Zoom’s alternatives have it while even the 10T does not. On the other hand, it’s understandable how Sound Devices is conservative in adding features to the MixPre series that may devalue their more professional recorders. If someone wants to mix with a Cooper mixer into a MixPre recorder, it’s still very possible. I’d be wrong to assume using any of these cheap control surfaces would beat the experience of using a CL-12, but I’d like to see someone in the low-budget realm mix a feature with that nanoKontrol 2.
  12. +1 for reviving the thread. Very curious how everyone is insuring their equipment currently, since I’m not yet.

Hoping internal batteries on both the transmitters and receivers are user replaceable.

Another entrant to the budget wireless world: From the website: Price and release date have not been announced, as far as I can tell.
  16. In a Gotham Sound video, Kish Patel said the short Bluetooth range is due to the metal casing.
  17. Thank you @Moesound! Another thing that makes me consider the A10 over Lectrosonics’s wideband offerings is the ability to change transmitter settings via Bluetooth. Wondering what you think about that, Ilari.
  18. I’ve been hearing about the wonders of Audio Limited’s A10 system, but it’s almost exclusively been in the context of wireless booming. Would anyone like to talk about using the A10 for wiring talent? Curious about how it performs in that capacity, especially since it’s similarly priced to the Lectrosonics SRc receivers and LT transmitters.
  19. User manual and quick start guide on Denecke’s website.
  20. Just saw this via Gotham Sound: Here’s the product page on Gotham Sound, as well as the brochure page from Denecke.
  21. The Summer 2018 issue of 695’s quarterly is now available!
  22. From Gotham Sound’s video on Block 941 – a 941 transmitter antenna versus typical antenna:
  23. The Summer 2018 issue of the CAS Quarterly has been released online, featuring Michael B. “Koffy” Koff’s production sound work on Venom. Available via PDF or interactive. An archive of past issues is also available.

    Block 941

Anyone know if IATSE Local 695’s walkthrough of the application process is still good? The note at the top says it’s out of date due to “recent changes in the FCC's license approval procedures,” though Gotham Sound still recommends following it. I’m trying out the online application, and fortunately it’s much better designed and more reliable now than described in the walkthrough.
  25. Gosh that sounds lovely. I don’t usually like how Sanken shotguns sound (the low-end is overemphasized to my ears), but I’ll keep an open mind for this one. Wondering how far along Rycote is with developing the shock mount for it.
