  • Interests
My interests include production sound, directing, cinematography and editing. My favorite physical activities include yoga, bicycling and anything outdoors. I enjoy going to movies or watching them at home. I'm a little high brow in my taste but certainly have room for some a few block busters, animation, comedy and sci fi.
  • About
In the last year my work has been split between production sound and producing videos for business and the arts. When I'm producing I'm usually doing most roles myself, adding peeps when needed. I also take on photography projects from time to time.

My sound kit includes a Rode NTG3, NTG2, booms, bag, Tascam DR-680, Zoom H4N, Sennheisser G3 wireless system, VT500B/O lav, the EV RE50/B omni mic, a Rode Blimp and a Rode Stereo Videomic Pro.

Other gear includes Canon 7D, 28/50/85 Canon lenses, ARRI light kit, editing suite based around Adobe, fluid head tripods, shoulder rig and Manfrotto monopod, a few LED lights, C-stands, flags, gels, etc.

I'm always excited to share what I know with others and learn from those who know more than me. I've been working hard at this since 2008. My first creative career was as an actor. So I bring a pretty broad perspective to most conversations. Would love to talk shop or collaborate with you on projects.
  1. Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I do a number of roles in video/film production including directing, camera and editing. But in the last year there has been more demand in my services as a boom op/production sound recordist. Specifically in the narrative branch which is the most enjoyable for me. As interest has picked up I've been adding to my sound kit. The most recent addition has been the Sennhieser G3 deluxe wireless kit from B and H. My package has arrived now. Before I dig into it I want to check into the wireless spectrum that is best for Seattle. My unit happens to be "A". A friend mentioned that that "G" is a good way to go. Somewhere in the last year I did see a list of spectrum recommendations per city/region. Since the system was not inexpensive I want it to work well for some time to come. I may in time end up working in the larger production hubs as well. So being up on the spectrum issues will be a plus. Does anyone have knowledge on this subject or access to a data base? Thanks much! Michael Kleven www.michaelkleven.com
