  1. hi Jez, I'm in the process of negotiating to buy the successor to the X80, the X86, from a studio in Detroit. It's in mint condition and operates. I'm hoping to pay very little for it. I've got digital tape, so would like to have a little fun with it despite it being completely irrelevant and outmoded in this day and age. To my knowledge, Ampex produced no decks that operated at speeds greater than 30ips at any time.
  2. Fortunately, it does include a 32GB Compact Flash card, but the use of Windows XP for software compatibility is a major drawback. I may, perhaps, make a lower offer as it's a clean looking piece. Thank you, Lars, for the informative reply.
  3. Hi folks, I'm new here. I found the site reading the "Nagra stories sound-men won't ever tell" thread and all of the wonderful information in that thread, so thought I would ask the experts about the Nagra ARES C-PP (the rack mount version of the C). I have an opportunity to acquire one fairly inexpensively (~$350USD) and could use a two-channel solid-state recorder for some of my transfer work. Please share your experiences with this piece of gear and your opinions regarding its value proposition at that price would be appreciated. -Steve
  4. @gianniangeli, did you get the part you needed? I would also be interested in obtaining a clean 7" cover for one of my Nagra portables but I find them difficult to locate.
