  1. Thanks. MC 41 is mic level. You labeled as line level. On another note, does anyone know if pin 3 on the UM400a still has an attenuation value when tied to pin 1 and 4? That hook up provided 40db of attenuation at line level in the 400 and 200 transmitters.
  2. Hello everyone. So a friend of mine bought a couple of xlr to ta5f cables to run line level into his um400a transmitters. When plugged in, both the lights(green) light and that is with trim pot turned all the way down. Was wondering if by following the lectro instructions to insert a 20k resistor where that would put the trim pot on the clock. Would like to keep the dial around the 9 or 10 o'clock position. Or if anyone knows the resistor value to achieve even a 12 o'clock position, that would be great. Wendt X5 mixer. Don't have a UM400a transmitter to test on but surely someone would know I hope. Thanks in advance jeff
  3. Cool, thanks. All my bag receivers are blk 27, My camera hops are blk 22 and after checking tvfool and the fcc site it looks like blk 22 is a mess, 3 or 4 DTV channels in that block, Does it help to be 20 miles from the transmitters or should I look into renting two wires in different blocks that are more friendly? Thanks for the input jeff
  4. Hey everyone, haven't been to LA in quite sometime. Have a two day job next week shooting a few miles north of Ontario. Do you think there will be any problems with these freqs? Or will I be far enough away from the towers that I could get a way with these? Thanks jeff
  5. Thanks everyone. I think I will order up a Sennheiser MKE104-straight, black, cardioid-pigtail and give that a try. Will post back with the results when I get to use it... thanks
  6. Ok, so I do a fair amount of network live shots and have decided that although I love my COS11's. There are times when I really don't like the omni pattern. Tuesday morning we did a liver with two guests, man and woman. Man is wearing button down shirt-has good voice and projection. Female is wearing lower cut shirt and has little projection-soft spoken needs way more gain. So add to that they are side by side and either one could jump in at any moment so have to leave the pots somewhat open, and the sat truck parked outside has a fantastic low level rumble from the on board genny. Was able to get the fridge off. Live shots tend to be straight into the camera with rarely ever a head turn so why couldn't I use a cardioid lave to buy me some isolation...I have nothing but Sankens, B6's and Sono's in the bag...opinions greatly appreciated as always RJM Outpost 31
  7. Alright, so about three weeks ago I gotta call for two days(Tuesday and Wednesday this week) Shooting to the D5, interviews indoor and outdoor. Received a confirmation email regarding the dates with contact phone numbers and the obligatory "if you have any questions, don't hesitate to call" line. So, last Tuesday I email and check in with the guy..."hammering things out, will let you know asap". Hmmm. I thought this was firm? So I wait till today, email again. Response: "just found out this morning, not going to happen-will keep you posted of if/when there is a reschedule ...Inside 24 hrs is a bill for at least one day right? Did not turn any work away but still... Anyone have any thoughts on this? thanks RJM
  8. Wow. Took off to run some errands and had this idea about building a little box with ta3 ins and outs plus a double throw for pan....and bam...there it is. Just talked to Mike at Redding Audio, end of month(May 2010) availabliity. Didn't Peter Engh used to make something like that for the FP33? iirc rjm
  9. Hmmm. Never thought about the link i/o option. I did a quick internet search and could find nothing on that box. By pro sound-you mean PSC or pro-sound in NY? Jeff, the mix pre is definitely an option. I am using the AO-2 bag with 4 lectros in it and the 552, I have the extra "5th" wire in the front pouch and have the bag oriented with the large headphone holder to the left. Was hoping to get something on the left of the bag with ins and outs coming out the bottom. The mix pre is all left and right ins and outs. The space on the portabrace bag is about 4.5" wide. Looked at the old PSC mjr or even wendt x2...it could be really small, couple of knobs, don't need meters, passive even. Should have taken my electrical courses more seriously!
  10. Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could recommend a small lightweight 2 channel mixer that is either self powered or could be powered from a bds. I do a fair amount of reality work with the 552 and there are times when I just can't give up the boom while running 5 wires. Would be great to have something small, that would clip, drop in or hang on the bag which would give me the ability to run a wireless and boom off of separate pots-just in case...I have tried the pug and unplug-not very pretty or elegant and of course running the boom off wireless and cycling thru freq's to get it...but I would like both at the same time if needed. Not to be picky-but inputs and outputs out the bottom would be nice thanks RJM
  11. Thanks to all who contributed to this post. The shoot went off without a hitch. This was a traveling road show so they decided early on because of the number of locations and machines that standard slating would be the way to go...they will be editing in 23.98 I was told. The 552 worked perfectly and having the SD extension cable was the only way to go....made two protection copies, renamed the takes and transfered to the clients mac. ...Found also that popping the SD card into my edirol r-09 made renaming files much faster... rjm
  12. Philip, sorry for the confusion. They are shooting 24p and editing on a 29.97 timeline as you suspected. Will use WA to restamp/rename files..Soon as I can afford a smart slate and sync box I will definitely get...The 552 when set to RTN B TC(with no TC) input still auto stamps the file at 30nd...I agree with you that is a strange default rate...protecting the 7XXT products I would imagine... thanks for your help!! RJM
  13. Philip thanks. They requested audio at 30p(29.97) Can't turn off the time code stamp in the metadata on the 552. Always defaults to 30nd without external code. So I think what I will do is take a laptop with me, open files with wave agent, rename, change frame rate to 29.97nd and save...any problems with that other than taking a lot of time...
  14. Hey guys, so will be using my 552 to record audio for a 7D job this week. My question is: the SD 552 defaults to 30nd without a tc input from a sync box or the like..will this present any problems for post? I will be transferring files to a laptop when finished. Will have a standard slate on hand and will send audio to 7D input for edit. thanks
