  1. When listed on Amazon, I believe the measurement you are looking for is for the inside diameter (5/8").
  2. I agree with dsound and send it to Jerry for repair. He is located in Queens, NYC. https://jayceecomms.com/ I'm not 100% sure Lectrosonics does repairs for legacy products but Jerry still does and will get that unit fixed quickly.
  3. Since the SMV is set to 400 mode, check that the compatibility mode is set to "Hybrid" or "NA 400" on your 411a receiver. Link here: UCR411a Manual
  4. Same thing just happened to me today on set. At wrap when I pushed the button to get the menu screen to shut down. Froze up. I remembered this thread and knew immediately what to do. The battery removal solution worked.
  5. I've had two IDX NP-L7s batteries recently re-celled by Ritter. Great quality and service.
  6. Been using the original Petrol PegZ1 bag I believe for at least 7 years now. This is one of my setups in there with a 633 and three (sometimes four) 411a receivers. I also had a 442 and then a 552 in there before. Another setup below with two SR's and a 411a. I prefer a slightly bigger bag for the added room to make gear changes on-the-fly and/or hold other stuff. Was recently looking into a new bag but nothing seemed comfortable to me. If anyone is interested I have a new never-used Orca32 available for sale.
  7. Jack I agree with you but have had disappointing results when using SRc Band B1 & SRc Band C1 in bag while using Block 19 hops in bag (well within frequency distance). I did some testing at home and this is what I have: SRc C1 (SMQv BL26 686.900, SMQv BL26 667.000) Src B1 (SMQv BL22 576.000, UM400a BL21 563.100). All freqs scanned using the SRc SmartScan feature on both SRc units. Two BL19 UM400a transmitters in bag for cam hops (504.000, 487.400). When just B1 SRc is on (with its respective SMQvBL22/UM400a BL21 TX's) -all good. When B1 is on with the two BL19 UM400a TX's on -also all good. When SRc B1 is on, with two BL19 UM400a TX's and then turn on SRc C1 (with it's two respective BL26 SMQv TX's) -their are intermod problems/RF hits on the SRc B1 unit. and yes it appears to be a proximity thing since I couldn't get closer than 10-12 feet until I heard anomolies on the B1 unit. Now interestingly, when I turn off ONLY the two BL19 TX in bag then there are no problems on the B1 unit no matter how close I got to my bag with the two BL 26 SMQv transmitters. Then I went out on a shoot, downtown NYC, scanned again using the SRc smartscan feature and then confirming with freqfinder. Using two BL19 UM400a transmitters for hops and 1 talent transmitter BL26 sent to SRc Band C1 receiver. Had terrible results on the SRc Band C1 when using the block 19 hops. Once I ditched using the hops in bag, all was fine. With this situation I had only one talent, so I tried ratio mode with the C1 SRc. Didn't matter, was receiving hits/intermod with that talent receiver and I was at worst 10 feet away from talent. Now I agree it was downtown NYC, so there is RF, but never had this much concern when using 411a's for talent receivers. Also to note, with all of these scenarios I did have a Block 29 UM400a transmitter for IFB in bag - no issues on either SRc Band B1 or C1.
  8. Totally understand where you are coming from. I've been freelancing since 1995, married in '03 and we had our first child in 2006. My wife was a full time school teacher AND had full health-care benefits with NYC. After the pregnancy leave she went back to full time and we hired someone to watch our child. This only lasted three months as my wife was stressed with work and with the cost of childcare/her salary we felt why are we paying someone to watch our child so that my wife can go watch 28-30 other people's children. That's when we decided she would stay home and it's been this way since early 2007. We had another child in '09 and are still going. Now with that being said, living in NYC is expensive, commuting to work (I would drive in), owning a home, taxes, etc. Finally last year we decided it was time to change, so we sold our place and moved to central Florida.
  9. If you don't absolutely need 250mW power you can also use an LM/LMa or UM400/UM400a transmitter in IFB mode. Both the T1 and T2 will work well. I prefer the T2 because it is smaller, 9v power, and great for bag work.
  10. change your UH400a into 200 mode. http://www.lectrosonics.com/Support/Wireless/tn1024-setting-compatibility-modes-digital-hybrid-wireless-tx.html
  11. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Carl in November 2013 on a project in Myrtle Beach, SC. Knowledgeable and excellent at his craft. I am saddened to hear of this. My sincerest condolences to his family.
  12. Interesting to know. I cant speak for the design (either new or old), but I have had my unit for over a year without any issues. I always do a soft charge when charging my AA batts. Besides the Amazon Basics AA batts I listed above, I also use these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QJ1VW4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They work great in the TS-C slate and I have gotten minimum of two production days from a single charge.
  13. http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Capacity-Rechargeable-Batteries-Pre-charged/dp/B00HZV9YE0/ref=pd_sim_e_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1G2QQSWJJAMMV67Y7VPE I've been using these Amazon Basics AA batteries. Work really well and get all day in the TS-C slate and SB3 sync boxes. No official runtimes in my SMQv but I only use them in TX for non-critical situations. That being said, I would say 3-4 hours at minimum before needing to change. My charger of choice is Powerex Maha 801D http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E5S648/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I do a soft charge night before the shoot with conditioning every 15-20 charges (when time convenient)
  14. Would something like this work for your needs? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=897276&gclid=CjwKEAjwr6ipBRCM7oqrj6O30jUSJACff2WHvrM864UGeCe4aMUn5u24Q5QJyAr2ymLo_8vPbSKwgRoCH3bw_wcB&is=REG&Q=&A=details
  15. My original I-power wall wart lasted a few years and then had the cable failure while I was out on the road. Needed something quick so I went to the local Radio Shack and got this. At $30 it wasn't cheap and probably could have bought a soldering iron to fix the old wart. But it's been working well for about two years so...
  16. I stick to SanDisk SDHC Class 4 4GB and 16GB for the 552. Also use 8GB SanDisk Ultra SDHC1 (30MB/s) Class 6 and more recently 16GB SanDisk Ultra SDHC1 (30MB/s) Class 10.
  17. 2 x Sennheiser 416 1 x Schoeps CMC641 5 x Sanken COS11 3 x Tram TR50 3 x Countryman B6 1 x RE50 Will be looking to get a Sanken CS3e in the near future.
  18. With all the 5D/7D shoots I had this year, glad for the SD552, Denecke TS-C, and SB-3 purchases. May all of you have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2013.
  19. I used Steven's technique yesterday for the first time and was very happy with the results. Semi quick-fire sit down interviews with multiple talent so I utilized Bernie's top-stick suggestion to "renew" the sticky. Rig lasted all day. Thank you.
  20. Good stuff! Thank you for sharing.
