  1. Actually Goyo worked relatively good on narration test files I created. It eliminated white noise almost completely. . as good or better than my other din type noise reduction tools. Eliminating room ambiance (early reflections reverb) was not as good, and generated a slight flange type effect. but certainly could be usable on some projects. I can post the files somewhere if anyone is interested. I usually use SpectraLayers Pro. iZ's RX Advanced would work good as well, but neither are far from free.
  2. Check out the Sound Redux Auto Align which is specifically for phase issues. Imager plug-ins are more for widening and/or creating a spacial stereo effect than a repair tool. The imager tool can be used to collapse a stereo field, but that would make an out-of-phase issue even worse. FWIW, iZotope has an free 'Imager' plug-in which is similar to the above mentioned. It is also included in most versions of iZ's 'Ozone'.
  3. I had the pleasure of talking to Eric on the phone few times . He was very knowledgeable about wiring adapters and a hell of a nice guy. I regret never having a face-to-face. RIP Eric
  4. I am not sure what you mean by 'pitch'. Download the data sheet. The NC _XX is a real nice connector and easy to terminate (solder) I recently built an 8-channel fan-to fan snake with the NC3_XX connectors.
  5. EQ wise, the human voice contains frequencies from 100Hz> 10kHz (including sibilant 'ess' and 't' mouth sounds. Many folks apply a high & low pass filters at these points. This does not indicate a singer's range though. For instance, on a good day, I can sing songs (full throat) with high notes up to around G4 (above middle C) which is 392Hz.
  6. How about a three or four-channel snake cable. I have an old 3-channel snake that is about 6 or 7mm diameter. It is not super flexible though. I will look at the model # when I can.
  7. I do not recall what model , but it was a main stream radio from a NY production rental house. The PTT had a 'hold' option and I had to solder together a custom cable instead of an external headset.
  8. I usually put the bag in the car with a Comtek or other IFB to the follow vehicle . On a few shoots with an unpreditable distance, I fed the IFB and and a walkie-talkie, the walkie did not sound as good but the range was over a mile, good enough the hear what was happening when the IFB crapped out.
  9. Can you post a file on We Transfer, Google Drive, One Drive or other cloud based file sharing site.. I usually receive files from video editors in the AAF or OMF format which duplicates the editor's timeline. If files are not compatible, I use AATranslate to convert to a Adobe Audition friendly format..

  11. Rycote Undercovers, or Overcovers for even more wind protection. Cardioid mics are inherently sensitive to wind (and handling) noise, so use omnis if possible.
  12. Boundary mics at the edge or the stage are unobtrusive and can sound good. Cables can be run up against the walls in the isles. I have a pair of Sanken CUB-01 miniature boundary microphones that sounded pretty good for a quick choir recording. Crown PZMs are popular boundary mics, but are generally larger than the Sanken but are still unobtrusive .
  13. I have a (Green River?) fly fishing rod case that fits my K-Tek Avalon 100 boom perfectly. I even has a shoulder strap.
  14. AAF is good in a perfect world, but in my experience 80% of AAF imports have some kind of problem. especially when going x-app and and x-platform. OMF is much more reliable and btw, metadata can be maintained if the media files are not embedded in the OMF file, which has the inherent size limit anyway.
  15. Do you have another mic that requires a full 48v PP to check in the 663 ? I am sure you already tried another cable, though I doubt that is the problem since 12v PP works with the other mic. Does the DPA work with another mixer or external 48v Phantom Pwr supply? Call or email SD
  16. Me three.. 3/4" and Betacam. Some of the Betacam docking recorders I encountered had 'AFM' audio tracks in addition to the standard tracks, so I throughput audio to them as well.
  17. FWIW, Sound Forge Pro (v11 and later) can also scan a 1 hour program in less than a minute and display the peak , RMS dB and loudness (LU) factors. It can also export the factors to the clipboard to document or print. It also has a real-time loudness meter option. btw, I am a moderator on Magix (Sound Forge) forums. Magix also publishes the Vegas Pro video NLE which has a substantial DAW built in. Both were published by Sony prior to the 2016 acquisition. (Sonic Foundry was the original developer).
  18. FP32 is good for a OMB, though it will not prevent mic or the analog preamp from being over-driven. As was stated, no all NLEs (or DAWs) support floating point 32 bit, so that could be a post issue. Otherwise, If the audio files are separate (non-embedded in OMF or AAF), I would think TC would be maintained.
  19. Hire someone with the skills and equipment to do the job. You are asking for trouble otherwise.
  20. The mics are easy to hide, especially a B6, the cable and Tx is another story.
  21. - Not really (unlike a line-to-mic cable which only requires a couple of low cost resistors to attenuate the signal), mic-to-line needs a complex circuit with some kind of power sourse. The Sennheiser G series EK 100 portable receivers (with AF set to the max +12) will feed a line level.. but it will be a little anemic feeding Sound Device's +4dB inputs..
  22. FWIW, Reaper was inspired by a early version of the video NLE 'Vegas Pro'. (which was actually audio only) at that time and published by Sonic Foundry and was acquired by Sony Pictures in 1999. It is now published by MAGIX Software GmbH. Vegas Pro 20 is a full featured video editing app and still has a substantial DAW built it. Justin Frankel, Reaper's original developer and was one of the founders of WinAmp. btw, I am a Magix forums moderator
  23. Most lavaliere mics are inherently unbalanced, and most body pack transmitters do not supply Phantom Pwr either, so you do not need the current XLR Phantom Pwr supply converter/adapter. I am not sure about the Sennheiser G 500 series Tx, but the 100 series plug feeds the needed bias current on the same terminal (tip) as the 'mic level' audio. The ring terminal being tied to the shield along with the ground. I am not sure if a resistor (or what value) is 'recommended' to wire the COS-11 for body pack Tx usage.
  24. The Home Depot stores I frequent in NY and NJ have bins to dispose of rechargeable batteries and florescent light bulbs.
