  1. 100% I had a interview job last month for a semi regular client that would normally be DP, Sound 2 PA, Make Up,Gaffer and 2-3 clients. The shoot was DP and Sound that was it. They tried to cry poor when in fact they are saving tons of money and complained to me that I was charging them a rental fee for my laptop since I had to manage the Zoom
  2. I would ask whatever audio dealer you use to see if they have a better way to contact them.
  3. Haven't worked with FX9 yet but did you try turning the timecode output level up or down in the JB1 menu? Normally the default is fine but I have had to adjust for some RED cameras in past
  4. Yep I have talked to Gordon and Dave ( who does all the firmware) told them it is very confusing still. My advice is to call service for help because if you load the wrong "branch" of firmware you can brick the unit.
  5. Gear Acquisition Syndrome we never stop buying gear as sound mixers
  6. If I was building a starter kit this is what I would do: $2000. Sound Devices 633 Used with bag $1400 LEctro SRB RX with bottom Plate (2) 1600-1800 for both Lectro SMV or SMQV TX (2) $600 for both Sanken Cos 11 lav mics $800 Saken CSM-1 shotgun mic $400 Ktek boom poles and shockmount $200 Used BDS system with cables $200-$300 Used NP1 batteries and charger $1000 for Misc cables media headphones etc $8000-$8500 for a pro level basic kit If you can set your budget at 10K Then get some timecode boxes and make some used Comtek IFB Remember cry once buy once buy good quality stuff
  7. I have been working on small corporate shoots just myself, camera and talent everyone else remotely. Mostly boom only stuff Also been doing some news work which is the same everyone remote but the 3 of us outdoors only boom only for interviews
  8. I am the person who approached him about making a simple version that could do Sleep and Unsleep and Rec on and Rec off. Many times when I am strapped into ENG mode my hands are full and I wanted a quick way to use the 2 most common RM commands I use. I have been using it very successfully the last few weeks. I also wanted a way to Sleep and unsleep without pulling my phone out on certain jobs where clients ask us to not use our phones on set.
  9. I have a Cinela COSI for my Mini CMIT and have used a friends Sanken CSM-1 it is the best thing for eng work period is just as good as a full blimp but the weight of a softee with an outstanding shockmount built in. If I didn't already Own to many mics I would but a CSM-1 My addiction (2) MKH 416 (2) MKH 50 (1) MKH 40 (1) Mini CMIT I used to also own (2) CMIT (1) CS3E (1) MKH 60
  10. For the price the Sanken CS-M1 at $895 would be a great choice similar in performance to a MKH 50 very small and robust. https://www.sankenmicrophones.com/production/shotgun/cs-m1/
  11. I had my first few days of work since early March this past week. It was a multi day corporate interview job with some broll for a client I have worked for in the past. The crew was just myself and the dp. Production rented a large home for us to have multiple interview set up options and the ability for each of us to have our own restroom to use. Ample PPE was provided and outside on the porch of the home we had hand sanitizer along with masks for subjects to wear until we were ready to roll if they didn't have one. We had the producer on one laptop to interview along with the agency/client on a group zoom call to listen after each block of questions the producer would mute herself and then talk to the agency folks. Everyday when we were done someone would come clean the bathrooms and common areas of the home. The DP and I rotated waiting for them to finish to lock up this was all within our normal 10 hour day. Client provided us with $35 a day each of per diem for a walkaway lunch and to buy our own crafty since none was provided. Overall it was very enjoyable as we did not have anyone trying to micromanage us during shoot and were never rushed. This job would have normally been a full crew so I had to help the DP out more then usual but we had ample time to do so.
  12. about 5 hours for single battery SMWB model
  13. No one is owed anything I am not sure why you keep beating this dead horse. I already gave you the information you are seeking I own 6 Channels of SMWB the battery life is the same regardless of power output setting I know this from personal experience. Nothing has changed in this product since release and anything IS NOT possible except you are a dense individual who hasn't taken the time to call Lectrosonics on the phone if you want the answer directly from them instead you want to keep posting a bunch of hot air on this thread,
  14. Call Lectrosonics on the phone if you want an answer from them.
  15. The horse is dead if you really want an answer from Lectrosonics pick up the phone and call them instead of posting online hoping they will respond. There is only one battery life chart in SMWB manual in the SMV/SMQV it shows run time at different output powers.
  16. Wrong it is a shorter battery life as an example a SMV at 50Mw will get close to 8 hours on a lithium AA An SMWB close to 5 The SMV and SMQV had a variable output RF board so turning down the power improved battery life the SMWB and SMDWB only pad the RF signal down turning the output power down on the units does not improve battery life. BH is the worst place to shop or get any information from
  17. Looks real to me but a bit beat up here is a blog about fake vs real with pictures http://txsound.com/blog/
  18. Brian Give me a call much needs to be talked about much more then I want to type
  19. What they are asking for is completely wrong. You worked 3 days they should pay you for all 3 days of time you negotiated for. Stand firm this is not a client you want to work for again if this is how they treat you. You also should not have done any post production work for them for free as that is not in the standard job responsibilities of a location sound mixer. Also was your rate 700/12 with gear?
  20. check with forrest lightningsoundrepair@gmail.com he still services Nagra and might have it.
  21. Reach out to Pete he has dealt with older Schoeps for many years ask him what he thinks http://cmc4upgrade.com/cmc4upgrade.com.html
  22. Make sure they know the basics mic level line level and polar patterns. Also make sure they know how to send audio to a camera via a breakaway snake. Seems like many of the newer folks don't know how to send audio to a camera correctly also explain to them that just because we have all this great technology nothing wrong with keeping it simple and running a hardwired cable when it makes sense to.
  23. Unfortunately it seems to be more common these days
  24. You need to order some Phantom Power Block Cables from ACE Cables. https://www.audiocablesequipment.com/?fbclid=IwAR0WQSmZ9T0Rg_2EVaFQTEbamG1IEExkRFWFV2Vk66bVCsMCqvhcYwWPoeA It is terrible that there isn't phantom power blocker in the unit. I won't buy into this system till they have a unit that has locking connectors and phantom power block inside unit
