  3. When a Producer calls and says " We only need you for a half day or a short day" Including travel time to me a short day means 5 hours or less or it is considered a full day rate. I just got a call today for a job that is "Two short days" according to the producer which he defined as 8 hour days when I politely corrected him and said a half day is 5 hours or less. He responded in an angry tone " In L.A a half day is 8 hours because we normally shoot a 16 hour day I know your in Ga so you may not know that or be unfamiliar with industry practices" His so called "half day" day rate was $250.00 per day including equipment and my reply "Being in Ga does not = Ignorant Thanks but no thanks. Oh by the way they are shooting on 2 varicams and are flying in most of the crew except me.....
  4. Paul Graff is a great mixing and I wish he participated more in our great online forum. I worked with him for about a week and had a blast.
  5. The mm400 is very water proof. However I would use a Countryman EMW or B6 instead of the Cos-11 since they are more water proof. Just make sure with the mm400 the battery tube has the "O" Ring on it and it is tightly secure
  6. I just use colored heat shrink to mark my cables this site below is great for cheap misc electronics http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item/HS-4900/search/COLOR_HEAT_SHRINK_TUBING_ASSORTMENT,_154_PCS_.html
  7. Thats cool. I had the same situation when I was in rural Ga last year recording a war reenactment. It is days like that which make me love being a sound person and it makes up for all the days of reality tv shooting watching people paint walls all day or treat each other poorly.
  8. How long is that pole? It looks painfully long
  9. Alex, I 2nd Glen on that. I always have a 2nd preloaded battery tray ready for quick changes
  10. The Zoom H2 is now available for $200.00 I will be buying one next week and will report on it . It takes 2 AA batteries so it looks like a great option for some situations
  11. What should I set the microphone output of my 302 mixer to if I am using a Zaxcom ENG hop with the transmitter set to 40?
  12. if you want more than 6 channels then Deva 5.8 is your best option
  13. If you need 4 channels a Sound devices 442 mixer and 744t 4 channel hard disk recorder are best for both bag and cart. This option is about $7000.00 If you need to spend less than 2500 this is what I have Sound devices 302 3 channel mixer $1300.00 and a tascam Hd p2 2 channel hard disk recorder $800.00 or so. Plus some NP1 and a BDS system your ready to rock

  15. I currently use a fishing pole holder as well for my pole and it works fine. I started this thread when i was bidding a 20 week travel job with 2 different cities a week that I didn't expect to be booming much so I wanted to try and cut down the amount of things I had to travel with but I didn't get the job alas
  16. Steve, Buy used Lectrosonics to save money a used 211 or 201 will work fine for you. I have 3 211 in block 27 and even though im concerned about the wireless issues I need to work now and my block 27 work the best for me in my market. By the time the block disappears if it ever does I will have made my money back in rental fees

  19. They are great cases I bought some last time they had this same special I bought two large rolling cases and got two medium size ones free will very reasonable shipping. It is nice for smaller jobs to have a smaller case to travel with
  20. I just got some I powers recently and they have worked great so far in my (2) 200c Transmitters. For jobs where doing a battery change isn't difficult I will be using them. However for high stress multiple lav jobs I will be sticking with Ultralife 9v's or Procells.
