  1. I think the point is to have an internal battery solution that you can power your whole bag with for an extended period of time within the machine. It is to my opinion one of the best asset of this concept if you want to keep the bag compact.
  2. How do you monitor camera return if you go cabled to camera from the optionnal xlr 5 stereo output?
  3. As i assume that it is for most people in this business as well. I hope the thing can put out 4 balanced output with no additional hardware. If it has that i m sold.
  4. It's great to see you guys pushing it to new levels of portability. A lot of great innovative products are coming to market but it feels to me that weight and size is not prioritized enough. 95% of what i do is under 4 channels. The concept of the 688 is great but it's much too big and heavy for my liking. They could have made it much smaller and allow extra rx to be plugged in if needed. It would be great to see a wireless companion sl-4 for the 633. The sonosax offering is great designwise but there is no camera outputs so i definetly can't buy that. The maxx is great but there is only one card wich is a ( mostly psychological ) block for me. I thought i d never say this but my nab favorite this year goes to zoom for pulling a 302 sized 8 pots recorder/mixer with outputs, two cards, screen on the left and big record button. It is a zoom product so i doubt that the components will be high quality but the concept is there. http://www.newsshooter.com/2015/04/17/nab-2015-zoom-f8-recordermixer/ Now a one box concept is very appealing but nothing is there yet for me. I applaud the efforts of my colleague in pursuing this goal. I look forward to see what you re gonna come up with.
  5. I m gonna be honest i m really blown away by this. The form factor seems perfect. 302 sized, Screen on the left, big red record button on the right. Two cards (hello zaxcom maxx!). 4 outputs ( hello sonosax r4+!) plenty of power options. In and out timecode! I could be willing to pay more for good preamps, 2 proper returns, stable tc and more solid looking knobs but man the form is there. For a light and versatile bag that seems to be it. Couldn't a higher end manifacturer come up with this instead.
  6. Not sure if it was mentionned but i thought the porta-brace "military vest" concept is a pretty good idea. Anything that can help balance the front weight of a sound kit is a good idea for my back. http://www.newsshooter.com/2015/04/17/nab-2015-portabrace-audio-tactical-vest/
  7. How small can these windows 8 tablets be? If it can be iphone sized or so i could see myself put one on my bag for run n' gunnin.
  8. Oh man, hate to repeat but everything is there but why no balanced outputs?? I simply cannot buy the thing if i can t plug it to a camera. I hope they reconsider their choice. Really nice integrated design. Grrr..
  9. These days i enjoy the convenience of rolling mirror card on whatever cf card production hands me. Nothing i hate more than running after my cards the next day. Knowing i use a transcend 133x as primary all is good.
  10. I stand by pascal's 100%. No outs, no go. Very unfortunate because the thing could be a great alternative to the maxx and 633 I find that in this day and age you have to be ready for any camera and setup even if you don t expect it. Only a mixer/recorder combo will pull this off.
  11. I agree that having proper mixing to camera line level outs with returns is crucial for me to buy such machine. If estate is a factor it could be accomplished with smaller TA style connector outputs. There has to be a way to feed a 2nd camera with returns as well. i can t go back to switching recievers from bag to bag anymore.
  12. Good actors can help you by whispering louder and screaming quieter. If you feel it's right you can just ask them directly.
  13. Good job mark, very inspiring. That powering setup is next level.
  14. A zaxnet slate. A maxx that can also record to a usb stick.
  15. Of all the pictures i ve seen of the rx12 "bagged up" is there any specific reason other than user preference why is it always below the nomad? Shouldn't that be the other way around?
  16. +1 I think the biggest factor restraining the devellopment of "intergrated receiver" recorder is block selection. Now that broadband is here, not much of an issue anymore. The other factor to take into consideration is equipment failure. When everything is integrated, the whole thing can goes down forcing you to basically carry a second complete bag. But yeah vincent, i m with you on this one. Basically a 633 or a maxx with 4 recievers would be pretty neat. Heck, i'd even put a space for a np1 with some power distribution. (That s what i really loved about my alphamix back in the day) Oh well.. I m pretty happy with what s out there anyway so it would all be icing really.
  17. Fishermen supply stores are the best for these little things
  18. I d like to see a sound bag with hardware and battery weight in a back pack and a screen and control panel in the front.
  19. My opinion on is: - establish with production company that you'll send a mix track to channel one and audio timecode to channel 2. - Establish with editors that your recorder's sound will be used as primary audio in final product. they have two options of sync right there. - bring the slate anyway and clap it if you can when it is more still (aka interviews). - approach time of day timecode on camera as close as possible. - last and not least, get good audio. That s why you re there. Good luck!
  20. Joe's sticky stuff is also a personnal favorite in my kit. It's very strong Note that a pill box is great for carrying all of these little things.
  21. Good to know there is one. Thanks for sharing pascal!
  22. Let us know if you manage to order some to canada. These looks like what i could use. The extra size of the sides seems to protect a bit more i agree.
