  1. i often switch my srb's from one bag to another and for camera use too. i find db25's connectors are the next logical step to facilitate that process. What have been your experience like with db-25's and where did you got your cable made? Thanks for sharing, Dominique
  2. Good review jose. I agree that a removable clip would have been better in my opinion since most of the time my erx's are on mounted on cameras. A system with a clip à la petrol pouch with one belt clip, one flat surface plate and one surface plate with a hot shoe would be amazing. That would allow user to switch in relation to the use of the erx. The myriad of applications that these things can do cause a great challenge of protection and packaging it right to keep the functionnality high. For now i m still waiting for a better solution. simply creating a "window" on my existing phone cases sounds like the most logical way to obtaning something i'm really happy about. Kudos for orca for taking in the challenge. It's not easy.
  3. Great idea! Extra points for the protection of the cabling in the frame. That was the last missing thing preventing me from switching to db25 connectors in my bag.
  4. I know that s what i do when something goes wrong. They ve been offering great support over the phone.
  5. Ok i'm gonna be harsh on this one but i got to say it. I find the experience of the zaxcom forum to be a nightmare. If the interface was more convenient for it would make information gathering much easier.
  6. Just imagine the amount of 200$ tascam units they would need to sell to pay for those lawyers.
  7. +1 for what s been said. Also carrying around in your kit some bongo ties, black 1" camera tape, extra 12'' xlr's if you need to go further and spare industrial velcro will help you. (use a bit of a flame from a lighter on the glue before sticking the velcro on a camera surface). There is no constant recipe on placing a rx on a camera so you wanna come prepared for many possibilities. Hotshoes are the best but you can t count on those always.
  8. By reading the maxx user manual prior to the gig you could have probably avoided that issue. And on a side note the "ext lock" sign on f3's and c-300's also often stay there even when you unplug your timecode source so they are not always 100% reliable so changing your tc value to verify that camera follows is always good practice as others mentionned.
  9. Wow looks like a cool product sonosax. I like the 2 media support but wonder why both slots are on top. I like the touch screen, the size of the unit, the internal battery and the six faders. Could you output power to a receiver from that battery? The big question is as always how much will that thing cost anyway? There is a lot of similarity to a 633 here.
  10. That s a smart idea. I d like to have a single box to put 30 aa's or so and that looks like a good solution.
  11. My little retractable tc cable made from loon boom cable. Always plugged in my nomad. Always ready to jam slate and camera. Never dangling down outside of the bag. Love the thing.
  12. I like the fact that this recorder displays the filename straight on the main screen.
  13. That s what i noticed too on my powerex's aa. Eneloop wraps seems to hold better
  14. Cool product simon. A lot of us have been waiting for a thing like this. It would be great to produce matching cable sets designed for those wireless/recorder combos as well. Especially with db-25's connectors for faster operations with the lectro sr series. Basically a kit to neat up a bag.
  15. 16 channels of g3's! That must have been loooong days. Please charge massive rental $$ for this.
  16. Got this idea from a colleague. A 2$ pill box from your local pharmacy for small lav accessories to carry in my bag. Much easier with seperate openings.
  17. Great thread, i like the rycote mic mount solution and the AT 160$ Mic for the size and price. For now on camera i have a kmr81 that i find a bit long and a me-66 that i don t like much. On a side note, i always put my camera mics at a lowish manual level so i can avoid the pumping of background noise. Out of curiosity do some of you sometimes set it to automatic so camera can handle higher sudden screaming or whatever?
  18. Thanks for bringing in your opinion. I searched for non-slip blanket on amazon, lowes and home depot but with no success. Could anybody be kind enough to send a link to such a product? Another option would be to sew a carpet grip pad to a regular sound blanket so it folds easilly.
  19. Hi all, On smaller sitdown interviews when crews are small i like to bring one sound blanket to put under subject to help the acoustic of the room. Sound blankets are slippery on woodfloors, carpets are heavy and often difficult to fold. Ideally I'd like to carry around a 6'x6'ish carpet that is not too slippery nor heavy. The smaller and lighter it folds down the better it is. I searched this site and amazon with not much luck. I know it is a production responsibillity to bring these things but to carry one would'nt hurt anyone and making sure there's always at least one. Anything you guys use with good success?
  20. Exactly that. There is no other way with the difficult fabrics. Get yourself some joe's sticky stuff to hold it in place too.
  21. Hi james, i ve been contemplating the idea of making a second smaller/lighter bag with zaxnet functionality and two cards recording. sd633+Ifb 100 seems like the way to go to accomplish that just like you did. What are your impressions so far of this setup and is it worth it for you weight and size wise compared to a nomad? Thanks!
  22. This is what i saw on a colleague's pelican. I thought this was pretty neat.
  23. The fact that it generates an automatic .pdf sound report is an amazing feature. Looking forward to see the x-3 in a bag. I wonder how this is gonna look like with the wireless receivers in there.
  24. The fundamental problem with single system sound is that akaik you cannot return 4 channels at the same time. You have to manually switch on camera either 1/2 or 3/4. Therefore making confidence monitoring of the 4 channels in realtime unpractical. I might be wrong though. As long as it is like that double system will stay the way to go to get the best results when things get a little elaborate. Everytime client wants sound straight to camera i always interiorly go "meh" unless it s a one person sitdown interview. Of course my goal is always to accomodate the client within realistic workflow for the quality if his project. For instance i COULD send 6 lavs to a 5D if they insists but you can be damn sure i ll be rolling a iso backup and making sure we use a slate.
