  1. Collateral Damage & Such. As most of you know I was hit with a heart attack back in April this year. It took it's toll to be sure on many levels. It affected my ability to operate Production Sound Solutions in Ft. Lauderdale. That along with the loss of film incentive packages and the booming of Atlanta as the hot local market causing many local mixers to relocate there in search of more work. The point is that those issues combined have made me take a long hard look at keeping the shop operational. Sadly and with a great deal of remorse I have officially closed the shop as of Aug 1, 2019. There will be more details on sales of remaining stock and other items of interest. My most sincere thank you to all who shopped & became life long friends, you will all be remembered and missed. OTOH maybe after making it to 82yo with 62 years of audio it's time to "cut." Again, thank you one & all. Best regards, Eric Toline
  2. Put a piece of pic-n-pluck foam around the release button parts before adding the hot glue. Advice from experience not a guess.
  3. Swap one of the 100series RX to another input and put a 500 series into input 3. I think that should solve your problem for while.
  4. Assuming that the phantom power was the same for all and that you understand that the Audix has a lower output level than the others. how does that affect your findings? Having all 3 mics pulling on the same phantom at the same time could affect your results. I would suggest that you check out the new Sanken CS-M1 to replace all 3 of those you have.
  5. Zelle is part of my Chase on line account. Use it for many payments, never a problem with instant response to transactions.
  6. Easy way to unbalance is to split the ground into two legs, tin both and solder one one leg to pin one and the other to pin 3.
  7. A coating the same way the L -R & G are coated in Sony 7506 HP's are coated.
  8. Lectro uses a different measurement starting point than Sennheiser does. Antennas are cut for the center frequency of the block they are in. Center frequency for your case would be 643. Nothing to worry about.
  9. While the other choices are very nice, I have to say that the Sanken CS-M1 has become the new boom mic du jour at my shop, "Production Sound Solutions.com" in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Customers have listened to it, compared and made the choice to replace what ever they had on their pole with the Sanken CS-M1. It does so many things so well that it's hard to say no to it. It basically sells it's self after listening tests. We've sold over a dozen and not one has been returned for any reason.
  10. Which pin is which depends on which side of the connector you're looking at, plug side or solder side. From the solder side I use this * ground * NC * positive/audio
  11. What you call the "fingers" are really a split collet that close down over the outer jacket as you tighten the back barrel nut. I avoid the compression crimp style as once the collar is compressed there's no going back to do any repairs. The tough part of soldering an older COS-11 is that the 3 wires have developed a mind of their own and refuse to stay still when you have to resolder them. Here's trick I use, once the wires are connected to the pins and you're sure there are no shorts, etc cover the exposed connections with clear nail polish. That will insulate all the connections from shorting out when you put the two half round clamps around the pin block. One more tip, there is a raised key way above pin 1 (ground) get a Sharpie and mark it black, that makes it easier to see it and line up the cut out opening in one of the half round clamps. OTOH life would be a lot simpler and less expensive if all TX units used a TA5 connector.
  12. Fabian my old friend. How nice to hear from you once again. It's been a long time for sure. I hope this finds you in good health and spirits. and a hug from the north. Eric
  13. From the 72 RX to a G3 TX? You have to come out of the headphone jack on the RX with a 3.5mm mono plug. The XLR cable should be wired as follows, The wire from the tip goes to pin 2 of the XLR, the ground/shield of the 3.5mm goes to pin 1 & 3 creating an unbalanced signal path. Turn up the 72 RX output control and adjust the G3 TX input control. An XLR will not fit a Sennheiser G3 TX input as it's a 3.5mm TRS locking connector. The wiring for the 3.5mm G3 input cable is simple. If you're sending a mic level signal then it's tip to tip, if it's a line level signal then the tip of the 72 cable connects to the ring and you ground the tip to the sleeve.
  14. Thank you all for the kind words but sorry to say that for health reasons I won't be there this year.
  15. Canare mini Star Quad is a smaller diameter and will be perfect for your requirement. Redco TGS-1 is also very good for that use. 2 conductor shielded with a ground/drain wire. About $.25 a foot.
  16. Return after buying & using? The microphones are not the only cheap thing in this thread.
  17. That sounds like a Wilcox Sound replacement job was done to your DPA. They're the best at open heart surgery for lav mics.
  18. Let's see go to NAB and see the same people as I have over the last 30+ years or stay here and spend time with her?
  19. There's always that possibility. We shall see.
  20. So there's no cover charge because I'm not going to be there?
  21. All of the above being said the new Sanken CS-M1 is perfect for DSLR mounting. There is a cold shoe mount for it also. It has the reach you need, is short enough not to be seen in the shot and sounds amazing. Main issue is that it requires 48vp for power
  22. You'll have to call Ktek and give them the specs on your pole, compressed length, extended length, number of sections, etc. Each pole requires a specific cable kit based on it's size. If your pole has a bottom XLR it's a "CC" kit, if it's a side of the pole exit it's a "CCR" kit. If you've never replaced the internal coil cable before be aware that it can be a bit daunting. OTOH you can send the pole back to Ktek and they will do it for you. Call them and speak to Karen. Here's the link to the cable kits.
  23. Which cable are you looking for, the internal coil or the pole to mixer jumper?
  24. That is not the internal pole cable. The internal pole cable is 3 wire but heavier conductors than the old pole cable.
