  1. Then I would guess putting the unit in a pot, covered with soil and watering daily is not what's being discussed?
  2. Facebook is my choice for the fastest info on what's happening in this business. More specialty groups on the various aspects of audio and sharing latest info on issues, problems & updates plus it's fun. The instant response factor is worth it's weight in gold to me.
  3. Somewhere in the dusty part of my memory I seem to recall that15-20 years ago Sennheiser offered an integrated mixer, recorder, wireless unit that was about $10-$12,000. Does anyone have a better memory of the unit?
  4. Then what seems to be the problem? It's not exactly rocket science.
  5. But we knew that. How they became the de facto studio monitors that represented the average home stereo system is beyond understanding. I mixed on Altec 604/E's at Gotham Recording in NYC back in the 60's, not very musical but total information.
  6. Do a Google search for 8 channel line level splitters. All kinds to be found from various sources at various prices.
  7. Go to www.crimsonaudiotransformers.com for all the specs & details.
  8. "Also, remember the classic Yamaha NS-10 story. Originally crap, inexpensive bookshelf speakers that ended up standard in any legitimate recording studio to date. " Only after mixer Bob Clearmountain discovered that you could tame the terrible high frequency drivers in the NS-10 with a sheet or two of toilet paper hung in front of the tweeters. That discovery lead to long discussions about which toilet paper was the most musical sounding. Sound from NS-10's coming through toilet paper still sounded like shit.
  9. The ones that don't work with the missing interconnects? You think?
  10. Jim, Thank you for riding herd on this once again. A great job as always. Eric

  12. I heard the prototype last November at the Atlanta Mixers party. Sufficeit to say I was very impressed as were many of the other mixers there who listened to it. It will be available this May. Street price is $895
  13. Look at the K-Tek or PSC line of poles. Go into your local dealer and check them out.
  14. I'm out of suggestions. IMO I think you're over complicating the issue. Good luck on finding a solution that works for you.
  15. Ok, try this. Everyone make a list of the new cost of all their gear then deduct 25% for wear & tear, age, etc. That should put you in the ballpark.
  16. Yes that's correct. The TC direction depends on how the 5 pin lemo is wired. It can be wired for TC out or TC in or IN & Out depending on what it's being connected to. In the picture the Lemo is at the input end (female xlr's) of the snake which says the TC signal is from the Lemo to the BNC at the output end (male XLR's). While wiring a BNC is fairly easy, wiring a 5 pin lemo correctly can make you crazy if you've never done it before. Be sure if you buy that snake you specify what TC connector goes on which end.
  17. In that case check the used gear listings on dealers websites or Ebay and see what they are selling for. Just because they are no longer made does not mean they don't have a value.
  18. You are doing it right. The grounds for TC & audio get tied together on the 3.5mm TRS and pins 1 & 3 in the XLR are grounded together for an unbalanced audio connection.
  19. The Rycote Overcovers (little furry disc windshields) work wonders for wind issues.
  20. I would suggest totaling the new replacement costs of everything and work from there, assuming it's for insurance coverage. There are many variables to be considered such as age, condition, used market prices, analog or digital, etc, etc.
