  1. If this one has a similar menu structure and file handling as the Edirol (now Roland) R-44, this will be a winner.
  2. Hey Dan. I recall a situation almost exactly the same recently. Same characters (lovely boom op, self righteous DP, arguments...). I think it's okay to argue loudly on very rare occasions as long as both parties can let it go later and maybe even laugh about it. I try not to take these things home but that's not so easy most of the time...
  3. The SD MM-1 plug is a Coaxial 5.5 mm outer diameter, 2.1 mm inner. Switchcraft 761K has 2.54 mm inner. So I assume it won't fit.
  4. Is the Switchcraft power connector identical to the one used on the Sound Devices MM-1? It looks as if it is, maybe someone can confirm this?
  5. you truly are JW Sound Group's own Soup Nazi.
  6. Has anyone used the Schoeps CMIT for VO and if so Senator, to what results?
  7. On my last shoot I had a Sennheiser Phantom plug on Tx on the boom mic, boom op talking to me via the boom mic. A Senn plug on Tx on one of the outputs of the 788T (a different output than video village's so only the boom op could hear my slate mic comm) going to a G3 Senn IEM Rx to his headphones, Very light solution and good for what we did (up to 10 page/day episodical) with a lot of different sets each day. I will change to another setup: boom mic > cable > MM-1 > Lectro LMa because the Sennheiser companders are freaking me out and I want a good limiter before the Tx. So no longer a cable-less boom but one can't have everything.
  8. The only real problem I've had with low frequency/handling noise on the Oktava is when I use it wireless on a boom or as a plant mic. The low cut module doesn't get rid of all the LF so a low cut switch in the Tx or preamp (before the Tx) is needed. For wired use with the mixer's low cut engaged I've never had any problems.
  9. I meant a working 400 kit for 1200 $ used would be nice, I haven't seen them being sold at that price range anywhere. I'll keep my eyes open anyhow...
  10. I just stumbled upon these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/594448-REG/Lectrosonics_UCR100LMA_21_100_Series_Wireless.html thought they were discountinued but they seem to be in stock there. The usual dealer suspects in Germany/Europe don't seem to offer them, though. Anyone happen to know if they're available anywhere in Europe, and if so, where?
  11. the only reason that keeps me form going Lion, sadly, is that I'd like to continue using my old MBox with Pro Tools. Since Lion only supports PT 9 and PT 9 doesn't support the old MBox, I feel kind of locked out.
  12. Like Senator writes, that's quite subjective. If the 788's Limiters were the same as the 442's I might just have bought a 788 and saved myself the wait. I have no idea when I will get my Nomad. I was hoping to get it in time for a film shoot that starts mid September but judging from all the delays so far I wouldn't bet on that.
  13. Either you or the person who told you mixed it up. 442 (and 302, and Mixpre!) limters are WAY better than the 788's. One of the reasons why I ordered a Nomad instead of a 788.
  14. +1 on that. I had to return 4 out of 5 TL40s because they had strange level drops when connected to G3s. I will get new ones though, as they're a great value as you said, but if anyone wants to be these they should be prepared for some rounds of returning, fixing, refunding etc., all of which OST will be very helpful and quick with. My one TL40 that works is great. I wish they all had worked in the first place, as due to this issue I had to rent lavs for a shoot instead.
  15. Glenn, since you're delivering now, what did the ext power turn out to be? Hirose 4 pin or XLR?
  16. The shoot is over, I couldn't entirely solve this problem, so I decided to dig this one up again to get some more opinions on this: I have had the impression that when my bag rested on my cart (which is almost entirely made of aluminum) I had these problems with a high feedback-like tone/noise on some of the wireless Rxs. Being quite a noob when RF theory is concerned, I would like to ask those of you who know more about this whether it is at all possible that a metal obstacle like that can notably influence/disturb RF reception?
  17. http://www.insanelymac.com/apple-rumored-to-be-launching-hdtvs-in-2012/ if that's true this could be another reason why they hired Holman...
  18. OT: About different plugs for lavs: DPA mics have a screw-on connector mechanism that allows you to use the same lav mic with various receivers. If DPA is too high end and high priced, Rode copied that mechanism for their Lavalier/Pinmic.
  19. Long time no news here. I'd like to know, Glenn, if you might be able to give us a "not-before" date, as in "The Nomad will NOT be shipped to pre-order customers BEFORE 31 august/30 september/2015 etc.". Would help me personally a lot, maybe others too?
  20. they should reduce the price in Europe, too. At 3000 Euros this is definitely worth a thought.
  21. I eat. Fruit, chocolate, cake, sandwiches, whatever is on the set table. Note to self: exercise after shoot is over!
  22. I was in rural China last month and I loved it and my advice to western people is to not believe every horror tale the media tells about China. My impression is that the media are quite biased when it comes to China (as they are supposed to be our "enemy" in economic terms). Chinese themselves, I was told there, don't buy fake. The fake stuff is usually because there is a demand in Europe and America. They just make them.
  23. well the blame is quickly put on the Chinese. They make the original 7506s too, by the way. As well as pretty much any electronic consumer device, including Apple products. That "fake" Apple store sold real Apple products, so what's the big deal? I read about the fake 7506s some months ago, and some people said they sounded good, others disagreed... The fake ones might be nice IFB headphones for directors anyways...
