  1. Ken. Audio Developments are a really friendly company. An email to Roger Trowmans (who designed it) or Tom Cryer and you will get the answer straight from the source.
  2. Possibly Jez. It was a very long time ago and at my age I'd be pushed to remember what I had for lunch the day before yesterday. BUT a four channel Eela with a Nagra 3 sat on top seems very real. Apologies if I'm mistaken.
  3. I used one in the early 70's. The Nagra sat on top of it and the four rotary pots were sloping towards you. Can't remember much more about it apart from this. The only time I used it was on the original production of Ready when you are Mr. McGill.
  4. We make a rigidised aluminium sleeve that has rack strip on the front vertical edges and an open back so you can access the connectors. It is less than a quarter of an inch over the 19 inch wide rack. We made 3U and 4u for some gear that Lisa Pinero put on one of our carts.
  5. Regrettably Tim who was a UK mixer is no longer with us. He also ran a new/used equipment business with his son Will but this sadly has ceased trading. Maybe this machine was one of his sales items. I don't know what happened to all his stock when Will closed the business. Maybe Simon Bishop might know?
  6. Jim, frozen white screen seems to be the predominant fault that no doubt could be media based but no one has come back and said " when I changed the media it cured it". This powering down completely and leaving for 30 minutes is totally unacceptable to me even if the machine is for a back up. It's zoom's apparent lack of feedback that worries me, even a published we are working on it would help. I'm convinced that the machine will get someone the sack.
  7. On the Zoom group on FB there is a constant stream of freeze problem complaints and the quick fix for the F8 is to take ALL the power off it and leave for approx 30 minutes. Not really confidence inspiring is it. Zoom appear to be very backwards in coming forward with answers so I won't be considering the F8 or F4 until these problems are addressed
  8. I am fortunate to be the sole importer of Sound Blankets in the UK. The ones that we currently import from the Far East are black on one side and grey on the other. A little known fact is that they are made as movers pads and are totally unknown or used as such here. The unit price is relatively low from the manufacturers but shipping cost are very high onto which we have to pay 6.3% duty on the unit price and then Vat on the landed price. In China there are more companies selling blue than black.
  9. Constantin, a number of years ago you could have any colour you liked providing it was blue. I first saw them in Canada in 1990 as they were totally unheard of in the Uk.
  10. Several weeks ago there was a thread about a Mini Solice without a serial number. This subsequently turned up on the Sales and wants page along with a Wendt mixer but seems to have disappeared. Anyone have a link to the item please?
  11. Richard, the Mercedes is a popular choice here in the UK where it is known as a Vito. Not as popular as a VW transporter but as with the Merc it is essential that you get the long wheel base.
  12. Mick, I'm still at it at 74 and retirement is not in my vocabulary.
  13. Phillip, I used to have an external crystal sync for my Nagra 3. I can't remember the make although it might have been Cooper. Nick Flowers may remember the makes as he was the location Nagra Guru. Vaguely remember David Lane fitting an internal one in the early seventies.
  14. I bought a SD 744 a while back and in the box was a Cirrus Logic DAC707. Anyone know in what context this would have been used with the 744T?
  15. Can anyone recommend an arm to attach either an I-Pad or mini onto a cart. Looking form something metal as I am continually having the Amazon plastic rubbishy break on me.
  16. The D size hole is a slightly loose 24mm. you will find 25mm glands and grommets at any electrician supplier. There is nothing in the electrical game between 20 and 25mm as these sizes correspond with Imperial 3/4 and 1 inch. Hope this helps.
  17. No Marc. All the Nigerian scam mails always start with "Good morning my dear" !!
  18. Must be the Suffolk air Nick. It's OK here in the wet North West.
  19. Phillip. When I bought a 633 I bought the 3 way and found it very quiet and it did exactly what it was supposed to. For another project I bought a mini Solice so I bought the six way which compliments the Solice beautifully. When I saw a photo of the Pink Noise one, I might have been having a senior moment but it certainly didn't have the Hirose in and out just a dc non-locking socket I thought a the time "pity it doesn't have the Hirose to match the 633.
  20. They also do a four five and six way units, but this looks like a cracking bit of kit. My only surprise is the external power socket. It's a standard DC plug whilst the DC in and out on the 633 is 4 pin. hirose.
  21. Crew whatever you do don't retire. I reached the UK retirement age ten years ago and have no intention of giving up.I wouldn't know to pass the time. I am renowned for having a power nap in the afternoon sat at the cart. I have never missed "Turn Over" and it has become a source of amusement for people to put end slates on a rehearsal or take photos of me asleep. Being this age also means that you don't suffer fools gladly and you don't have to put up with crap from somebody two years out of film school. Regarding your five stages they are very relevant especially in these days of penniless dreamers.
