  1. My credit union has a great mobile app for ios and android. It's not just big banks. Although my specific CU doesn't have a ton of branches, I can walk into any credit union as if it was my bank. The branch I go to the most is actually a diffetent CU because it's close to my house. Looking at the network of CUs, at least here in Seattle, I have access to about as many branches as any of the major banks.
  2. +1 for android. I just bought an android tablet to compliment my android phone, and I plan on using my tablet on my cart extensively. I'd love to make my cart fully paperless if possible.
  3. Ambient uses several patterns of blinking to show different warnings. The manual has a chart of the blinking patterns to help you track down the issue. I second the idea of two way tc communication causing your issue. Are you using a lemo to lemo to connect to the alexa? I've had issues with that in the past due to the ascii connection. The Alexa assumes it's the master if an ascii connection is present, and only outputs tc. Either use the bnc output or a custom lemo cable. I can understand reasons to keep a box on the camera, but the alexa uses an ambient tc gen. Built in, so it's not neccessary to keep a box on it to keep sync. I'm not trying to change your agreed workflow, just noting.
  4. I use a rycote softie on my cmc641, and have been very happy. I'm curious if anyone has compared using a softie vs. A baby ball gag? Any noticable differences?
  5. What makes the lma any different from any other tx when it comes to the necessity for freq. coordination?
  6. It depends on the CU. Some are restricted to certain groups, but many are open to all residents of the state. I don't know the CUs in NY, I only know the ones in Seattle, so I can't help you pick one in NY. Happy bank hunting.
  7. It's possible that fcp is pulling your audio down .1% to accommodate for 30fps vs. 29.97. In fcp it's an automatic process and it doesn't warn you that it's happening.
  8. LectroRM or zaxnet and a very close eye on your rf. Jump in and change freqs as needed. Stay close to talent. Make sure issues are known right away so you can jump in and fix them quickly without losing content. Cross your fingers and hope for the best :-D
  9. I'm a huge fan of Credit Unions. I have personal relationships built with the people who service my accounts, and have had far fewer issue than when I've been with larger banks. Usually better interest rates too. Just my thoughts.
  10. In the last update James added the ability to enter custom frequencies.
  11. If you want to name your files with a job name, rename the folder name under the primary card menu. All entered metadata, scene, take, notes etc are included in the bwav files on the mirror card, and will be delivered to the client. I would also suggest writing a sound report before handing off the mirror card. This will create a csv file that lists all the files and their associated metadata.
  12. Rado's photo of the lemo connector is correct, although the pinout shown above it is actually backwards. Here is the correct pinout taken from the current red epic manual.
  13. Awesome. I've considered setting up a nas in my house for a while, but as of right now I don't have enough computers running to need it. Did you buy an out of the box solution or did you build a custom linux box?
  14. I still don't understand why there is jitter in the tc stream. I'm sure there is some technical reason that causes it. I just know to work with it.
  15. I believe the ts-c is drifting when set to auto because it is reading the frame rate as 24 instead of 23.98 due to jitter in the nomads tc stream.
  16. One issue that can crop up from crossing the 0 line during a take is in calculating the length of the take. If you subtract the starting time code (23:59:00:00) from the finishing tc (00:01:00:00) you end up with a negative length instead of the appropriate duration. This can possibly do annoying things to an edl too.
  17. Usuable lifespan of equipment is a big factor when determining rental cost. If you have to buy new cameras every three years, you have to start making money off the rental right away to stay profitable. That doesn't justify producers under valuing our gear though. That's another issue.
  18. One reason is the mic will last you a career, the 7d will be outdated in a couple years.
  19. It's also recommended to upgrade to 3.00A. 2.99 has a bug in it that can cause a factory reset unexpectedly.
  20. I'm with Maek, I love the neopax for hiding transmitters. The mic bra isn't for the transmitter, it's for the mic itself. It can be a life saver when you can't tape to the skin due to sweat etc. Honestly, I don't use my mic bras very much, but I've been super happy to have them when I pulled them out.
  21. Burly and Bob trailers are both great. I've done some gigs with a full kit on the back of a Surly Big Dummy, which is a fantastic cargo bike IMHO. I built one for my brother, then immediately borrowed it, strapped 100lbs of gear on the back and rode it to work. I ride to work when I'm booming if possible. I either leave my poles with the mixers cart, or I carry them on my back. I made a custom case for both of them out of pvc, and attached a guitar strap to sling them over my shoulder. The snow plow looks cool! I actually wish we got more snow in Seattle, but the mountains are so close, it's almost better that way. Whenever we do get snow in town, me and my fellow cyclocross racers can usually be found out riding around. I actually love riding in the snow, and take it from me, a snowball fight while riding is more difficult than it sounds! I remember chatting with an Ididabike racer a few years ago, and he was telling me how he used to make snow tires by putting over 100 1" sheet rock screws through his tires from the inside. He also had some of his clothes freeze and crack, so he had to wear a raincoat inside of his insulating layers to keep the moisture in where is could stay warm.
  22. I struggled with this same issue last year on a film where production wanted our "fat kid" to look bigger, so they bought his t-shirts a size or two too small. I fought constantly with it throughout the film, but a cos-11 in a mic bra ended up being my main go to, and worked great, until he'd do something that flipped the bra upside down shoving the mic into his belly. He was more than willing to help me out, and flip it back when that happened. I usually tucked the cable under the bra and went down his side to keep it out of view.
  23. I've been using imedion 2100mah nimh so far, and am happy. I should note I do not run on the internals until my np1 goes dead, and then only until I am able to swap it out. What firmware are your erx's on? Wandering Ear
  24. I don't know those leds specifically, but the only issues I've had with some leds are a high pitched whine around 16k, not really a big deal. Wandering Ear
