  1. I've been using imedion 2100mah nimh so far, and am happy. I should note I do not run on the internals until my np1 goes dead, and then only until I am able to swap it out. What firmware are your erx's on? Wandering Ear
  2. I don't know those leds specifically, but the only issues I've had with some leds are a high pitched whine around 16k, not really a big deal. Wandering Ear
  3. LOL Just put an ipod into your mixer with a 30 second mp3 on repeat one, and send it only to camera. Post will love that.
  4. works for me using taptalk on android Wandering Ear
  5. I spoke with Porta Brace last week about this. Sounds pretty cool. I'd also love to hear if anyone gets their hands on one. Wandering Ear
  6. I asked Matt becauae he stated that he wanted that, and I was curious for his reason. Being a best seller is irrelevant to my query. And I agree, choice is good. Wandering Ear
  7. comteks and r1as aren't multi channel, we're obviously not talking about low quality hops for scratch tracks. If losing money on your rentals is your justification for charging less money on a second hop receiver, maybe you should rethink your business strategy ..... In an lma/sra setup, the reciever costs more than twice as much as the transmiters, so I ask you my question again; why do you charge less than half for a second hop receiver when it's the more expensive, and possibly more abused piece of gear. I'm curious about your logic. Wandering Ear
  8. Why would you go for the regular version? I tried the regular re50 with my hm and it left me wanting more gain, so I ordered a ndym version. Wandering Ear
  9. Not exactly what you are doing, but when I switched from sennheiser wireless to lectros, I rewired my cos-11s for lectro and made myself input adaptor cables (ta5m to 3.5mm locking trs) so I could still use my senn. as extra channels or back ups. Wandering Ear
  10. I'm curious why you charge less than half for the additional rx? The hop is one tx and one rx, so why not half for an additional rx, especially since it's the more expensive piece and is likely to get harsher treatment being on the camera and out of your control. Wandering Ear
  11. +1 +1 I love the nomad menu system and the way things are layed out. I find it much more efficient than the 7 series, and is more in line with the way I think about it. The ergonomics are a personal taste issue for sure, but I find them very intuitive and efficient. Also this is the first mixer / recorder that I'm able to operate every function with thick winter gloves on. I love that. Wandering Ear
  12. For me, it would depend on how good the gear rate is. If it's a great gear rate, and I'm not using a lot of talent wireless, I might be inclined to use the hop. That's with the thinking that X gear rental covers X number of channels of wireless, regardless of how they are being used. More than that, production pays per channel, regardless of whether it's a hop or a talent mic. On shows that don't want to spend the money on gear, I've refused hops and showed up and hardwired in. Usually the camera guys will talk to production, or the producers watch you being cabled, and the hops come out, with rental being paid.
  13. Do a tech rehearsal with the musicians in the cab, that way you can get your micing positions figured out. I'd suggest considering cub-01s or similar boundray mics. Look into planting mics on the back of the cab divider and or headrest, or arming something up from the floor. Have camera there to work out positions that will be out of frame and still sound good. Sounds like a fun gig! Have fun with it, and get creative! Oh, and make sure the windows are up!
  14. Sounds like interference. Next time it happens, turn off the TX, and see if the RX is getting a bunch of RF.
  15. Just cause you have access, doesn't mean you have to be on it. I love my smart phone, and having instant access to what I need, when I need it. Not having to print things out and remember to bring them, email updates instantly when working. I think it's all great. It's the only communication device I own that allows me to communicate in all the ways that I do, all from one device. We are still figuring out how to deal with it as a society, as with all new technology, but that too shall pass.
  16. How is this not possible on the Nomad? the Nomad only records to cf cards, so no internal to fail. a cf card fails, you just replace it. Wandering Ear
  17. Zaxcoms position was that the Nomad is designed for bag based work where a keyboard is impractical. If you want a recorder for your cart with easy metadata implementation, they recommend a Deva or Fusion. The USB port is designed for usb drive recording, and mp3 transcription file transfer. However, I don't speak for Zaxcom, that is just what was discussed a few months back.
  18. I'm on a show for Bravo right now recording 48/16. That's what post wants, that's what post gets. Wandering Ear
  19. The 552 is capable if sending phantom power to the inputs when set to line level if that feature is turned on in the menu system. I've used this feature before for recording high spl content like gun shots and fighter jets with cindensor mics. Wandering Ear
  20. This is unneccesary as the 788 will auto create a new take that is sample accurate once the 2gig file size limit has been reached. Really the only limit to size and length of a recording is the size of your media. Wandering Ear
  21. That's kinda what I was thinking, and why I don't leave batts in my tx's of ifb's, but I don't normally go this long without using my mixer / recorder. Thanks Wandering Ear
  22. Normally during a show I leave the internal batteries in the Nomad each night and over the weekend, and just unplug my NP-1. I just started a 5 week show this week, and I am not providing equipment, so my gear is going to have some shelf time. I was thinking it would be prudent for me to take the battery sled out of my Nomad for storage, but I didn't have a good reason to/not to do this, so I thought I'd ask for some opinions here. I am asking about my Nomad because that's what spawned my question, but the same question applies to all gear, like transmitters and receivers, which I usually leave un batted unless I'm using them the next day. Thoughts? Thanks K
