  1. Jeff, thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time. Kia kaha
  2. Bought my first ERX to use for sending TC and a scratch track to DSLRs. The whole workflow situation means that I now no longer bother with TC. Seems the preferred process is to use Pluraleyes, so now I just send the scratch track. No slate, no clap, no mic tap, nothing. It's a shame that I can't "watermark" that audio because I have a suspicion that one or two of your cheaper production houses use the mono scratch track rather than syncing my recorded stereo. A guy can only do what a guy can do however . . . . John
  3. I've spent over 30 years making up my own cables but have never come across anything as small as these. Give me a TA5 any day. Trying to wire up my Cos 11 to the novel Lemo is like doing open heart surgery on an ant. I'm sure patience will get me there, I just hope I'm left with some cable on my mic
  4. I'm really hoping it's sorted, but if it happens again I will try the card trick. Thank you.
  5. Thanks for the extra ideas. My unit is usually powered externally, and the cleaning of the contacts on the STA /TRX interface was done early on in the process. Only tried it with batteries as another step in trying to trace the fault. As I said, I think the upgrade has fixed it but I am just interested to know how wide-spread the problem is, and also thought my story might be of help to someone else.
  6. Hi Roger, Upgraded to V 7-30 - the latest version on the Zaxcom site. Until the upgrade it was 7-26 Sorry to hear that you have been having problems, but glad I'm not on my own. Rightly or wrongly I have come to the conclusion that this isn't a battery problem but something strange in the software. As you say, this happens even with fully charged batteries. It also doesn't seem to matter whether powering is internal or external. Still cycle the power on this unit any time I'm near it. So far it hasn't missed a beat. All the best, John
  7. Have recently purchased a TRX 900 with STA 150 attached for a stereo camera hop. It also has the IFB and internal recorder options. The IFB is really important to me because I want to hear what's going on at the camera. Problem is this: Periodically the TRX just doesn't boot. Usually cycling the external power just once will cause it to boot. Have tried all cabling and connections for intermittent faults. None. Battery capacity doesn't seem to be an issue because once up the transmitter happily runs for another 3-4 hours on the same battery. (Also found that it happens using internal powering.) A few days ago we were about to shoot a sequence that could neither be delayed, nor repeated, and the TRX just refused to boot at all. There was no time to change to a cable, and the unit only booted after about a minute and a half of powering on and off. (It felt more like an hour!) Needless to say this has made me very nervous about other situations like this. I have since upgraded the Firmware and it SEEMS to be holding. So far I haven't been able to fault it. Zaxcom's only advice was that "if it happens again turn off the IFB". Ummm . . the IFB was the main reason I bought this unit. After a very long and boring story . . . has anyone else had such issues? Thanks heaps, John
