  1. Quote From Robert Sharman I am a liberal, and anti-gun, but I fully support police when lethal force is justified. Well, close.... I am Calif. born, a Liberal and extremely PRO GUN.... Concealed carry.... and I fully support shooting back at any ass--le who shoots at someone.... F--k the waiting for the police... are you kidding me... How many people could of been shot while they waited for a squad car... Lucky the "movie" cops were around.... chalk up one for film crews.... You could say a film crew saved lives... If anyone remembers the L.A. riots when the LAPD was "waiting it out" in their compound while the Korean shopkeepers were standing on their roofs, guarding their OWN property.... and the rioters were having their way with the town, this whole gun thing came around loud and clear.... ONLY YOU can protect YOU..... That IS the truth.... both at home and in public... Arm up and educate ones self on fire arm safety and training...
  2. Close personal friend.... I like that..... Nice going Mike....
  3. I am not a big fan of the whole "everything menu driven trend" Since my old Pioneer Supertuner lost the Bass Treble and balance knobs years ago, and all the car stereos went to the menu driven way of doing things, it always takes me too much time to get what i want done.... and, It's dangerous!!! I think just a few buttons or switches is helpful... But, the times are changing, and we need to deal with it.... put the manual by the toilet and read it at each "data dump"..... What can you do.... That was one reason i always liked the Fostex gear... a nice mix of buttons, switches and menus... but, they were BIG... and pricy.. as well as now long in the tooth a bit.... so there you go....
  4. Been there, done that... it is now crossed off my list of places I intend to work.... I hope you however have a great shoot and get some nice sound..... I just can't do bugs...... no matter the financial gain....
  5. Nice array, Never leave mics at home....
  6. I like many own all the above, they all have their place and time.... I am not that impressed though with the CS3e though... I'm just not... I much prefer the 416.... but again, they all have their place.... it is MOST important knowing WHAT place.... Derek, do you own the other mics?
  7. ............ Mummmm crunch, crunch , crunch....... More action, please.....

  11. Well, how was it miked, how did you take care of business.... what went down... give us a basic rundown on what was needed...
  12. I don't know where that data was compiled... but it is skewed... or, as has been said, reflects the total number of people who claim to be a sound engineer and call it their primary job.... 40% who actually are not full time persons skew the figures for those who are... or, the total number of hacks and professionals together... the hacks going out for $200 a day with gear, and the rest filling out the data field... charging professionally accepted industry rates...
  13. What... not true at all.... Just ask my wife.... Only " I" am out to get her....
  14. Sure you can, it will even change the oil on your truck, van or PT cruiser...
  15. SCAN and set up your Freqs !!!! First thing you do on any new location other then getting the stuff out of the vehicle is SCAN YOUR FREQUENCIES.... Get an idea on where you sit... If in fact you have other units in other blocks sitting around, better to quickly know if you need those loaded up in your bag.... Some blocks will be better than others, some might be washed out.... better to know early, not late in your prep game... The other tips provided by the nice folks here are great as well... Power up ALL your units as Jason mentioned. Doing it one at a time won't let you know if your units are playing nice with each other.... This is not an easy science, SO many invisible variables... too many to count, or it seems that way... Out of a bag, the units just don't get the same range as out of the bag, on a cart with proper antennas and the like.... That's just the way it is.... it is a bit of a crap shoot.... sometimes you get nice distance, maybe a quarter mile on your cart, sometimes you need to stand much closer to the action.... Out of a bag they can struggle at 75'....... or much less!!! You just never know...
  16. Well, The producer is the boss on this one regardless, so... run audio into the Alexa, get your levels, let it rip, document your concerns in emails and have a nice shoot.... next project please...... Don't sweat the little stuff.... Let them do what they want.... keep telling yourself, "he's from L.A., he knows everything"..... I am sure it will be fine... not my way of doing things, as it is not yours... but WTF... Just make it a nice day... don't forget to smile....
  17. I know Big maho..... Q, on 24 November 2011 - 12:59 PM, said: I have taken the high lift and forklift training classes. They were offered by 478, but I can't recall ever being asked to show proof on any show. The courses felt like nothing more than an attempt to remove liability from production. And then, i said...... They are.... period... but there is quality information for those who choose to listen... I personally like the sheet to sign your name that there was a safety meeting when in fact, there was none...... some times there is, but many times there is not....
  18. VERY cool item..... especially if I were an Iphone user, which I am not.... but love the product.....
  19. The safety classes were OK, no hands on training really needed there.....I agree, any SPECIFIC classes should have actual hands on training.... The idea of how to operate equipment without operating the equipment does not sound like a good idea....
  20. They are.... period... but there is quality information for those who choose to listen... Funny, it is many of the above the line people who SHOULD as I said take the courses as well, you would think they would want to so they may have better awareness to aid them in staying out of court in a heated lawsuit.... The situation will probably play out like this... He may have been trained and may have been a TOTAL PRO... This is only an example of how they use the training to litigate... Pros. Atty. " So, did the individual have the proper and relevant safety training to operate the equipment he was working on at the time of the incident?" No ?, well is it not mandatory in Los Angeles or NY where your Production company came from...? Did you not choose to shoot here, in another state, to save money by not hiring trained and skilled workers that might of cost you more? Is it true that many of these workers can be hired non union, or from union groups that do not require safety training classes depending on their skill? Would you not agree that this mans life may have been saved had someone else been brought in specifically trained on that gear, or , he was trained in this part of the country in such safety training programs.... had they existed? This is why they want the training.... So they can simply say, yes, they were trained...
  21. Never work on my birthday or Holidays.... Those are mine and not for the taking... You only do this life thing once... I think a line needs to be drawn somewhere... If not for me, for my family... Happy Holidays all...
