  1. Funny, but that's a great idea...provided something can be played that does not enrage someone.... probably impossible..
  2. I for one have been polietly screaming for this for over a year...I am thrilled... Every time I spoke with SD I asked about it... Spoke to a few big wigs...lol, and begged.. For us commercial guys this is a God send...Ike Gomer says... Thank you.... thank you ...thank you...
  3. Sanken CS3e is my go to mic for almost anything I do...unless I can get real close..then I MAY switch to a Sen.MKH 50... That Sanken sounds good indoors, outdoors, with a long reach, close up and in bad environmental situations.. I use it so much I sold my Cmit5...and bought another.. Just love that mic.. so...I recommend the Sanken...period. All my other mics just sit and rest... And they are all nice..
  4. Much of the time the DP OWNS the camera as opposed to grabbing a camera from rental... He or she would like to of course use their camera and get their rental for it... Much of the time this drives the camera choice...
  5. Quote from JonG.. "Now, when the show is unreasonably run by people who schedule too much in a day, and I am fighting to do the bare minimum, then all bets are off." This is literally every show I work on... without fail. Huge amounts of shots to get .. They don't want to hear anything about 3 minutes to grab something, no matter how beneficial. Shots for camera come first..and a lot of them. Not unreasonably run, just too much to do. I enjoy the OT.
  6. System works just fine.... nice little recorder for drive aways etc. Output to transmitter works fine as well... I have one I rarely use, but I know it's there in case...
  7. Best way is to simply throw them on, fire up a wireless set on one one of your 205Ds, 411s, or anything else and test the range and function... it will either work well, work OK, work poorly or ...not at all.. Easy and a fast way to your answer... unless you have no units to test on.. Agree with CStauffer...those were from the old 190-195 units I believe..
  8. It's the first place I go... One phone call and my questions are answered, and I always get the care I need from people who I believe actually care about my situation. PERIOD
  9. It's Non Standard as Phillip says... that being the case... Why deviate from todays standard by altering things in such a way as to make the camera dept and sound dept. reconfigure their normal standards to non normal standards. Trouble is, for the one guy, it may be his standard... In general, this seems like it would increase problematic situations, or confusion, not decrease them. As we know, for whatever reasons there are times when things need to be tweaked to arrive at a goal in the end. The trick is to use those non standard configurations during those times only. If Sciprods (OP) didn't get any heads up as to why this was needed, IE a special filming situation, then IMHO, things should be standard.. This way, nobody is surprised and everyone knows what is expected... Except the one person in post. but, you'd be doing them a favor by enlightening them to the (modern) ways..
  10. I actually think the firmware he was referring to, causing the problem, IS the 3.01. He said v3.... My Take is he meant the 3.01.. Allen?
  11. Thanks Allen, And there you have it.. Still on v2.21...for now.. Thanks
  12. News to me as well.... I have used the shi* out of my mix pre 3, never an issue... nor have I EVER heard of one regarding "damaged, missing or wrote over files". Not saying it is not "true", but again, news to me..
  13. It happens from time to time.. I think it's my firmware loaded onto my machine.. I really need to re do it.. just haven't had the time.. But, the menu reset works fine when it occurs..
  14. 16 tracks of mono files and I may fail before the card..
  15. I do almost exactly as Robert... -12 dBFS on my mix track, sometimes if I know it's tame dialog, a bit hotter... -20 or a tad hotter on my ISOs... If for whatever reason I think they may actually use the ISOs and I'm not recording a true protection track, I'll go a bit hotter.. I use a limiter on my ISOs and my mix track..
  16. I wish I knew what was causing the problem for you, this always seems so "mysterious"... my workflow has been: The full format on my computer twice a year, takes forever but oh well. Then the normal format on my 633/688 and I have never had issues.. I have always been on Sandisk cards.. I have never had to do it multiple times.. Yes, it has been stress tested with over ten tracks, can't comment on concert recordings or anything like that... shorter takes over and over... and over. Maybe the shorter repetitive recordings never allow the machines to get backed up..
  17. Thats a good question followed by good advice... I thought about it and had no good answer... Tape around the outside would work well and not "glue" the pieces together.. as suggested.. and being clear tape, you would most likely not notice the hack..
  18. The third track sounds like a million bucks to the viewing public... It's sounds like the greatest track ever recorded to them.. I'm not kidding...
  19. Did you by chance reload your firmware..? I would try a round of that ... It can't hurt.. I don't use a keyboard so I can't help u there..
  20. I have used the menu reset a million times, usually at times when I did not want the machine to keep the TC on during the machine being stopped..why run the internal batteries for this..? But if on a show, you'll of course need to re jam the slate and box if necessary..but...It has always come back to time of day TC.. only thing being blown is the sync to the other TC items..
  21. A little of what I was afraid of when hearing about the Audio Limited merger.... focus seems to be with the pairing of the two.. Wish there was more in the way of updates for other items, like MUTED output(s) when in stop mode... Oh well... Hope this changes in the future. We'll see.
  22. There had to be a better way to publicly ask for participants and get the person they wanted.. I was always under the impression the best person available was the best person... even if they are purple... I have no expectations, it's not my request Matias.. and I get it, it's their request.. not yours.
  23. If your on a Sound Devices 6 series, the recorder will make them for you... You just use the menu to select "create report".. It spits out exactly what your after...
