  1. My 2.nd unit is built into a portabrace bag , they built those bags only for show! The entire unit incl. power for half a day is only 5.5 kilos. There is no need for me to update my recorder, 16 tracks and all the Sonosax goodies built inside.. Good also for the next 10 years. These yearly updates of new recorders and new transmitters/receivers are mainly for manufacturers to make money. I cannot see real great updates to sound quality in the last ten years..
  2. I am a Europe based mixer and own 4 A20´s. It is worth to mention, that in the end of the line the receiver gives out 44.1 khz. This huge dynamic range, that is obviously responsible for the transmitters short battery life, puffs away afterwards. And the battery doubler makes them in my eyes bigger than SMQV´s. (This update costs for older transmitters 250€!!! No, they did not say: sorry it´s for free, we did never test the runtime in normal workflow. ) Maybe they should step back to 24bit in order to extend the battery life (hopefully only a software update?) I intend to add A 10´s transmitters to my system. They last more than half a day with NIMH´s. My receivers work perfect (A 10´s). Designed in England.
  3. Nothing comes close to the 2 MHz filters inside Lectro´s VRT modules. I was driving some hours through RF traffic spots in Berlin with 10 VRT´s inside 2 VR Fields and amplified Betso´s at +4 db without running transmitters and distros. And I was permanent watching the display,- No reception of anything. Colleagues tell me that the have to change frequencies on a daily base. This system stays on top for me for years now. My other system: audio LTD/Sound Devices digital fail, even with handmade french multiplexers as soon as antennas have to stay behind the moving Camera when actors are more than 40 meters away.
  4. I would like to know more about usable frequencies in Thailand. I own blocks 21 to 26 and also block 31 for IEM. Will I have problems?
  5. 100 feet reach without dropouts as Zaxcom stated on Facebook some hours ago is not really a statement for changing gear from analogue to digital transmission
  6. Larry, I am European, when will I be able to buy a DSQD in Europe with all local blocks up to 26!?
  7. My preferred solution is one SX 42 with 4 A/D 's on direct outputs. Another SX 42 with the same configuration is already in place for a complete 8 digital solos and 4 analog mix out's . Sounds great with real analogue limiting. But weights an extra 2 kilos per unit- but they are really rugged.
  8. My SX Mini 82 runs 6 hours on 4 ipower 1.5 volt( built in 128 GB SSD )In combination with an unsymmetrical cabled RSM 191,-the best thing I listened to over the years.
  9. My worries concern the power consumption of the X3. The amount of weight you have to carry on somewhere in the desert for a twelve hours shoot, I believe more than additional 3 kilos for batteries would bother me. Thinking of this I decided to buy the tiny Sonosax R4+,which demands for 12 hours only one tiny build in battery (same kind like the X3 ones), I do add an Sonosax SX42 for shoulder work, you can feed the mixer from the recorder and you also have a lot of tracks and best limiting. and... less than 3 kilos on your shoulder. With the promised software update with delay for all inputs I´ll might be the lucky one and store my X2 in the truck!
  10. 2 Super CMIT with mobile analog amplifiers.
  11. I use the 4017´ for 5 years now, own two mikes from the first edition. But I would never buy mikes pretending of parts like the new model. When actors walk on noisy surfaces I always use it. But when you have multi camera shoots other mikes give much better results.
