  1. The Sonosax Module it's clearly aiming for people in documentary market or the ones which like to use AES Output (receiver) to AES In. Build-in microphones is welcome for those productions which does not care about quality playback sound (amen!; not hearing the moan from camera dept. about receiver).
  2. I think a conversation with director and production about expectensions will be a good one. For me it's not about equipment choice, but dealing with VFX department. Example: Let them shooting their wide shots with full rain, but in close-ups can shut down some trucks and the pressure of rain. Be as far as possible away from set. Wild lines as others said. For equipment, unlubricated condoms is a good choice with 6061, SMQV and Viviana Straps. The post-production will face a problem with the boom; when the mic will move, but nothing you can do about this. Double-boom will be needed IMHO for on-camera & off-camera dialogue to have continuity. Best luck!

    NAB 2022

I have a feeling that Ambient will make a first step into wireless game soon or later after watching the video from Gotham Sound during NAB.

If I understand correctly, there is 16 AES Inputs (if no MRX are installed), right? So, the only difference is this & DB15 connector.
  6. Definitely, Sound Devices need a better and up-to-date receiver. It has been around 5 years since Audio Limited introduced A10. The video shows about Q-meter, not about "walk-test", but will interesting to see one with transmitter in belt and body act as barrier. As always, every system has their own "sweet-spot" (like microphones).
  7. I don't think anyone will notice a difference between 2ms vs 4ms. It's in inside acceptable window for a digital wireless system IMHO.
  8. Not bad! Looking forward to hear more feedback from field about these two new features
  9. I am pretty sure they working for an A20 Receiver, since A10 is a little old IMHO. Q-Meter is very welcome addition and really helpful. What I can't find is, what about the "additional latency" in long-range modulation.
  10. Sorry mate, I am confused because I have read "half a frame late".
  11. From their website about this: ¹ When comparing systems with same transmit power, same antennas, and same transmission frequency.
  12. Sound Devices has been rolled out a new firmware update for A10/A20 Wireless REEDSBURG, WISC., APRIL 6, 2022 – Sound Devices is proud to introduce a new modulation type for their wireless products as part of version 5.00 firmware for the A10-TX, A10-RX, A20-Mini, and companion app A20-Remote. “We’ve been very pleased with the performance of the new long-range modulation in our field testing,” said Gary Trenda, RF Applications Engineer at Sound Devices. “We’re seeing significant improvements to audio range in all RF environments.” The new firmware also introduces a quality meter or Q-meter. Previously, the A10/A20 system only offered an RSSI meter, which only displays information on incoming signal strength. The long-range modulation and Q-meter join a growing list of state-of-the-art features in the A10/A20 Digital Wireless System More about Quality Meter can been found here: https://www.sounddevices.com/quality-meter/ New firmware can be downloaded from here: https://www.sounddevices.com/download/ LINK to Sound Devices promotional video
  13. My two favorite is: - Schoeps CMC6 MK41 - Sennheiser MKH-50 Schoeps CMC6 MK41 with DPA lavalier cuts really nice as well as Sennheiser MKH-50 with Sanken COS-11. We have used Sennheiser MKH-50 in exterior for dialogue with pleasant results, never had the opportunity to try Schoeps CMC6 MK41 as exterior for dialogue purpose; but for SFX (scenes without dialogue) and it was great. For inside, I much prefer Schoeps CMC6 MK41 for female voices. I have "boomed" (as boom op) Mark Holden with Sennheiser MKH-50 and when heard for first time his voice was like "dude, it's already final track, does not need something special in post"; aka "in-your-face" punch.
  14. Have you tried to make the recorder as slave and not master? I would trust the ultraSYNC One as master much more from the recorder (F6 or MixPre 10 ii)
  15. - Pinknoise Systems - Audiosense My two favorite stores, but my advice is to buy local. France distributor is: http://aeitech.com/
  16. From the manual: RX ==== 1. Try a different lavalier. 2. Sq. Bypass.
  17. My advice is if you go with Social Security Number; app must be end-to-end encryption.
  18. Any field reports, impressions so far?
  19. My general advice is to make ULTRASync One as master and then distribute to F6; and the other ULTRASync One (Camera) as Slave.
