  1. Beautiful. Thanks people, thanks soundchris. I am perfectly informed and happy now. Will go into MS world with confidence. Cheers.
  2. Hi Derek. I have read both the SD442 and RSM191 manuals and understand it. Just need a person who has done MS with this mic and mixer to clarify some specific details. I may be overcomplicating things, really it should be easy, shouldn't it?
  3. Thanks for the input guys. I need to send to camera a stereo signal which doesn't need to be decoded later. If I input into my mixer in MS and decode it in the 442 can I then output in XY? If so how do I need to pan the Mid/side on my mixer to the outputs. I know this may seem painful to those familiar with this process but I need to do it right then I'll never ask again. Promise.
  4. I'm about to record a play in a small theatre using a Neumann RSM191 to the Sound Devices 442. I'd like to record in MS mode but I'm not sure how to sort out my settings on the mixer. Does the RSM matrix box decode the MS signal before hitting the mixer or do I need to set up the mixer for MS. How should I pan the two outputs going to camera? Should I listen to MS monitor mode in the headphones. Will they need to do extra in post to make it work. I need specifics as I'm not up to speed with MS and I'd like to try it before resorting to the safety of XY. Many thanks if you can help I will love you always... in a purely professional way.
  5. Sorry, good question. I am using the Sennheiser 112 transmitter/receiver system.
  6. Hi there, just wondering if anyone knows the wiring configuration to attach a Sanken Cos11 mic capsule to a Sennheiser transmitter. I have a very capable maintainence department who would like to do this but information is difficult to find on the correct wiring. Can anyone help? It would be much appreciated
  7. Thanks for your help, I have a clearer picture now. Cheers.
  8. Hi there, I need to put together a sound recording kit for a 20 week doco shoot. It will be shot on DV camera. My director wants it to be a wireless set up. So far I have looked at getting a Sound Devices 3 channel mixer, hopefully I can also get a SD 744T hard disk recorder. I have a Sennheiser MKH60 and accessories but I am unfamiliar with radio mics and wireless systems. I want a good wireless mic system and a reasonable wireless link back to one of the camera inputs from my mixer. Lectrosonics would be great but the accountants have baulked at the price. Is the Sennheiser EW112 system adequate for good sound? Should I get Sennheiser transmitters and receivers and pay more for a higher quality (than ME-2) microphone? Sync will also be an issue with this system. Does anyone have any ideas on how or if this system will work. Any feedback would be appreciated as I have to learn quickly and advise on what to buy. Cheers.
