  1. Do you actually buy it in terms some of Swiss, EU, whatever license or do you just pay for service?
  2. Hey James, thank you for the update. Sorry to be a wise-ass. Here are some minor comments for the sake of precision. Technically, the Track E (if "green"?) does transmit its timecode every time the app "sees" it... to the app. Within the app, you can manually relay its TC as master TC to other Tentacles. (even the original one via USB?) Playback triggered via the switch or the app should be possible from a file the device "believes" to be the last recorded one. The english blogpost announced a new firmware that brings this feature to IOS and Android. An update to the app on both platforms is assumable and highly likely to make use of these features.
  3. I am thinking of getting a used unit. Is the 1490Hz wining on the recorded files only or also on analog andor digital outputs?
  4. Yepp, the 8 bay version is USB powered. 16 and 24 versions come with a 12V PSU. One nice feature for 12v ecosystems like vehicles is that you can set the max total power/current of the unit.
  5. IIRC bays 1 and 4 charge with up to 1A when only they are populated and enough input power is supplied (2A@5V ?). Bays 2 and 3 charge with up to 500mA, and all bays populated charge with up to 500mA (again when enough input power is supplied). But with your setup, I guess you'd only run into higher currents with only one in bay 1 or 4. I prefer my batts to charge slow (and thus cool) over night as I "believe" they keep their initial capacity longer and have an overall longer lifetime.
  6. With the VC4 do you have some sort of charging "regime" to avoid 1A charging? E.g. only 4 at once/limited power supply/loading bays 2&3 first. I avoid charging my NiMh much over 500mA. I have a VC4 but rarely use it for some 18650 LiIon.
  7. Ikmultimedia iRiq Pro I/O or some sister product in this family may be of interest.
  8. I am having a déjà-vu with this discussion about this product/service. And one, that this thread will be moved to the "manufacurers and dealers" section.
  9. Mostly digitally cabled to a soundbag (via XLR3). Putting 1 or 2 TX, a TRX743 or some small 2CH recording on the Mini-DA42 is possible and I have done so, yet not with my units at the time. (The TRX743 does not need the DA42)
  10. Sidenote: We've had this observation with Tascams DR-10 family before.
  11. A 416 is nothing I'd recommend buying in todays world unless you know exactly what you want to do with it (e.g. VO-Artist). In fact, I've canceled a feature film booming job as soon as it turned out to be mainly with a 416. On another job, I talked the mixer into using my 8060. The 416 may still not be a bad mic in particular applications and it was one of the best mics for film booming at the time. Many people here still carry it around because it was and is a popular "1st professional mic in a career" thing due to its legend and works as a backup. Booming with it is a pain as it is unforgiving and "aggressively" emphasizing hi mid to hi frequencies on axis. In my world of digital cameras, few to no rehearsals and variegating actors, it is not my tool any more though I've learned how to operate it back in the days. If you are looking for a classic premium shotgun people use Sennheiser MKH 60 & 8060 Neumann KMR-81 Schoeps CMIT that you already have (including the Mini and for special applications the Super) DPA 4017 Sanken CS-3e I haven't operated the latter 2. All of these are not any more in the 416 price range. Sanken, Audio Technica, Sennheiser(, maybe Røde?) and recently Rycote offer products in the 416 price range. If you are only looking for just a second mic, my next would be a (or better 2) supercardioids like some Schoeps 41 or MKH-50/8050 for indoor dialogue or a Sanken CS-M1 that is a really compact shotgun. So far, I have an 8060 for low to mid noise environments and a SuperCMIT for special loud situations for booming.
  12. The app does not record, though it does trigger it. The Track E records but does not output audio on the HP jack on US units during recording. Presumably due to Zaxcoms "virtual wireless multitrack recording" patent (or whatever its called), realized in the ZFR100 at the time. I'd assume, the android/ios audio-monitoring feature, however compressed it may be, if at all wireless/BTLE, would follow this US/nonUS firmware policy. The link you provided exceeds my non native English reception skills for a late evening read and the overall issue does not affect me directly outside the US. If you could sum up the essence of that text I'd appreciate it.
  13. We'll see how useful it will be AND for US units I'd expect an infamous... "bug".
  14. I have not been to that Tonmeistertagung. I only saw the mentioned statement. However there is not much time left for "later this year". They advertise the Sync E and Track E to be avilable early 2022 or "ca Frühjahr" (around spring). So I'd guess they release the FW a few weeks before they have new units. I wonder more about range and if it is extendable, e.g. via a Rasberry zero W at the cost of latency. The app interface needs some sort of pro version with more precise control of levels, playback and transport and metadata. So my hopes go also there.
  15. I've heard similar sound from focus pullers ultrasonic distance sensors (forgot the brand) with older Wisycom TX. Apparently similar tech is used e.g. in automatic door openers. Also Induction cooking tops can be somehow similar, IIRC
  16. Tentacle Sync announced a new firmware with audio monitoring for Android and IOS. News from Oct 27th 2021 https://tentaclesync.com/news
  17. My first search result for corona infectious vaccinated was this: New data was released by the CDC showing that vaccinated people infected with the delta variant can carry detectable viral loads similar to those of people who are unvaccinated, though in the vaccinated, these levels rapidly diminish. There is also some question about how cultivatable—or viable—this virus retrieved from vaccinated people actually is.
  18. A rough translation: 7-day incidence in Saxony-Anhalt by vaccination status and age group (The lower darker graphs are the vaccinated age groups)

    ARRI timecode

Would it make sense for a music video to send a music playback TC to the audio track?
  20. Depends on ones expectations. If you expect to not get infected, then none of the current products meet this expectation. BUT all products are effective, some more, some less. The chances of severe illness, long term damage and death are a lot less if you are vaccinated. An infected vaccinated person is a lot less and shorter infectious. So it does matter. That whould I count as a fact. I would agree that testing everybody regardless of vaccination is a good thing. I've also been tested countless times and got used to the deep swipe.
  21. I know them and worked with those, very good and common, yet not perfect, as you need some extra time to secure when in a rush.
  22. Nice project. I have a similar construction on my first cart. The thing with these pipe solutions is, that they they are sometimes a bit annoying in low ceilings. I use them now just as a small cup for the bottom end of the boom. The perfect clamp upwards is yet to be found.
  23. I had my hands on the thing the other day. The concept is appealing. I'll need a windscreen for my MKH8060 sooner or later and I wondered how it performs vs the Cinela Cosi. Also, the switchable low cut may render the special MZF8000 70hz low cut obsolete.
  24. This SOS "news" are for sure not facts. If anything, it is just interpretations... and crude agenda driven ones. Or if you want, it's alternative media producing alternative facts. A rather undisputed fact is, that there is a political discussion in Germany for a mandatory vaccination for nurses. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather have vaccinated nurses around me when I need that professional care and vaccinated people on set when I work.
