I've always been interested in learning to use a Fisher boom. How much does a Fisher 7 cost? What mic's are typically used on a fisher in sitcom/set shows? I want to convince a client that this would be a good setup to use in their new studio. I'm also looking for training resources if anyone knows of any online. Thanks!
If the talent is in the front seat you might be able to boom up through the middle of the seats assuming the camera angles allow. The cub is a great option too. Lavs on talent might allow you to get closer and have greater signal to noise ratio. Hopefully its an automatic transmission. I've found manual transmissions are too noisy in low gear. Good luck.
You might try an XLR splitter cable to split a shotgun. Apply phantom on one channel. Use two different channels and test out a few different gain levels.
The SMQV is quite nice. The um400s get really hot on talent, and they eat many expensive 9v batteries over a day. Two AA lithiums in an SMQV will last almost 2 days. Is anyone using the dweedle tone app to control theirs?
