  1. For phantom power (As senator's wrote) you need the hot and cold connected plus ground. For get +48V (With the phantom engaged) you only need any wire (hot or cold) + ground
  2. I didn't wrote this, but half of 96kHz is 48kHz, very high pronounced low pass filter for affect at 20 kHz. In the other hand, usually the high pass is a filter that any recordist can choose if need it, for dialog or anything else. In this case is hardwired and very very high. Independent of his main use is the AV production, IMMO this production don't begin and finish only on the human voice.
  3. Thanks Glenn for the tip, I'll try with AES tomorrow P.S. Can I use a recording for do the test?
  4. I measure from the Nomad input to Nomad output (As I wrote). If all is ok, I expected a flat response, (Flat input, flat output). But isn't flat. My test system is simple but is more than enough for check this issue.
  5. Two points, the steps are 5dB in your graph, the horizontal scale is linear (non logarithmic). My unit is a regular production unit (is broken?), accord to my measures the Nomad freq response is: +/- 0,1dB 263 Hz to 5,4 kHz +/- 1dB 77 Hz to 20 kHz
  6. IMMO the headroom of the Nomad probably is the best of the market, but the Nomad's problem is the lack of linearity on his inputs, this is a form of distortion (linear) and in this case is big
  7. Yes, I suggested on Zaxcom forums do a eq correction on the Nomad, for example with a button on every input called "flat". I have a preset on my Nuendo with the inverse eq
  8. Two different analyzers and no low pass The Mini setup without the Nomad
  9. Can be, how many plus or minus dB?. The hardware high pass is fixed. I'm sure that is a typo error (the theorical 38kHz fs bandwith is 19kHz)
  10. The Nomad have a good preamps (noise) and Neverclip (Superb). But have a big problem for fx, the preamps are far from flat, have a hardware "high pass" filter at 55Hz and a low pass at 25kHz (always on). IMMO This can be a problem for some recordings except vocals. I'm a happy Nomad user. but for do music recordings, I need to use external preamps and ADC connected by AES/EBU I guess that this isn't a problem for the big part of Nomad users. My measures (input to output at 96kHz with a Apogee Duet II at 96kHz fs) I believe this can be resolved with eqing (external or in the Nomad)
  11. Because is the usual in 2014 (and 5 years ago too), easy for programing (float instead fixed) (Less rounded errors), (better for digital mixers). In your sophist way, why not?
  12. This is very different (isn't AES/EBU). I presume that the Nomad have a 32 bit (float) mixer and a limiter on the Nomad mixer makes sense.
  13. But you can only avoid the clipping in the analog domain (For example in the analog part of your TRX), if any clips occur on digital domain is not possible solve it.
  14. +1 Glenn, I don't understand what is the need of a limiter on a AES. If any clip occurs before this limiter (anywhere in the digital chain), this signal will be broken, the limiter isn't a cure. The limiter must be before the digital chain. In other hand, if you want to control the dinamic of the source, much better do on postpo
  15. These complaints could be a help to get a better products in a future or fix the current ones
  16. 17. Frequency response on Nomad preamps (far from flat)

    RIP Tommy Ramone

Sad news, but thanks for all Tommy
  18. Nice db housing, where you bought it?
  19. Hello Glenn Yes, but I can get 1,5 hours from the internal pack (NiMH), sometimes is enough for finalize a day. In other hand, any plan from Zaxcom for release the internal battery charger?. Cheers
