  1. Great Marc, thanks for the input. And yes the audio settings are very lame!
  2. Hello, I am trying to send a 1Khz tone to a Black Magic camera. It doesn't have a VU meter and all it has is a percentage "level" in the audio menu of the camera. Any thoughts of what would it be the equivalent of the 1Khz tone in the camera's percentage "VU"? Thanks
  3. Looks like 24fs is the more indicated one. Thanks for the help.
  4. Hello, I am doing a shoot with a Black Magic 4K camera. I am recording sound separately on SD633 and I am in doubt of which time code setting to use: 23,97? 24? The shoot will be edited on a FCP. thanks
  5. Very good report Chris. I used to have more Neumann mics in the past. The 82i was excellent but for some reason it didn't stand the field burden and it broke quite often. Then I switched to MKH70, which is similar to the 82i. I did have the 81i, another excellent mic, but then I switched to the CMIT and I am also please. My question to you: would be better to compare the 82i with a 70 or 816? Of course your choice of mic - Super CMIT - is the reason you did the tests, but for me, when I need a longer reach I go for the sennheiser, not for the schoeps. And yes the cost of the mic makes a very important decision when you consider buying it: is it worth? A lot of people would say yes, but it I think that one has to consider if the feeling is like driving a Ferrari in a dirt, not paved road...
  6. Winter, look into the Hawk Woods or BDS distribution devices. They are small and give a lot of power, specially when connected to a li-on battery. Pay attention to the kind of power connector you recorder and mixer need, to order the right set up for you.
  7. What most impress me, in situations that you are shooting tight shots in a noisy environment and one can't understand why this kind of misé en scene couldn't be done anywhere else, besides the loud and non controllable location is choosen. Another thing is when those situations developed that always someone in the crew comes to me and say: "I am so sorry for you... you can't get any decent tracks in this location...your sound will be so bad..." and I always reply: "this is not MY SOUND, this is the film's sound, the film you are also doing !"
