  1. This looks awesome, but I get great results with Altiverb and can't really see a huge benefit, yet. Although it does use AAX and looks very sleek.
  2. We shot a feature on the Red Epic a while ago, and it was loud! I had to show the camera guys how to use their own equipment to turn that damn fan noise down. It was a nightmare in post and I had to deal with artifacts that the NR gave me. It's a fine line between acceptable and unbearable and I wasted so much time cleaning the dialogue tracks that I didn't have time to experiment with the final mix. They've now upgraded the fan to a quieter one. Massive difference, as now I can hear a high pitched whining sound that fluctuates through high frequencies and is very difficult not notch out, even with a Q10 EQ. They paid the privilege of £1000 for the "upgrade". You know there's a problem, when even the actors say it a loud camera.
  3. Philip, my mistake, I did mean scene names, not track names. And Marc you are spot on, RED camera naming files are ridiculous. efksound, I might take you up on that offer, unless I upgrade my system to a 788T. I'll see how my budget is in the new yr! And thanks for your personal number Robert. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll definitely streamline my scene naming conventions from now on.
  4. Hi all, I'm just interested to see what method most people use as track/take naming conventions. The reason being, on the last feature I worked on, the dop was adamant on using phonetics from "A-Z" rather than the conventional "slate" method. Bit annoying as when they got to Z, they started from A.1, B.2 etc. And pick-up scenes were another nightmare. I normally set my track names as "sce_1_T01,sce_1_T02......" and obviously change the scene number when we shoot a new scene. Any cheap way to use a keyboard with the 744T to speed up my writing. The CL-1 is way overpriced for what is it. What track naming method do you use?
  5. Thanks for all the helpful information guys. And "studiomprd" I've been on JW Audio for just over a year now and there is a wealth of useful information posted out by fellow audio people, and I've noticed you post on almost every single one of them. Granted, most of what you say is relevant and informative, but don't you think that by the time you spent ripping me apart and generally trolling my post, you could have simply reiterated what other helpful members on this post have said. Or not say nothing?
  6. Hi, I think I'm in the right forum, but I was looking for some advice on setting up my newly acquired 442 mixer with my 744T. I will be using the 4 mic inputs on the 442 and then outputting these 4 into my 744T inputs. When I output a -20db 1KHz tone from 442 into 744, the levels are way too hot on channel 1+2 in the 744 and the 2 volume knobs don't go low enough. My question is, is it best for me to change the 2 channel input switches on the 744 to line level (from mic) or to change the 442 direct outs to -20db (via the internal menu) and would there be benefits to either one. Thanks all.
