  2. +1 on the RG8X. Nice and flexible, even in the dead of winter, and we get 50' with impunity on a pair of Yagi-Udas. Also, Go Habs Go. Karl
  3. If you're looking for something directional, Vark Audio makes a superb, lightweight 3-element Yagi antenna called The Stowaway that you could mount on a lightweight pole and carry with you. https://id33157.securedata.net/varkaudio.com/merchantmanager/product_info.php?products_id=186
  4. Is he strapping the ground leads? That'll do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Don't forget Johnny LaRue's infamous crane shot, John... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Judging from the face he's making, they ran the cable around his nuts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. In the year 2021, the transmitters will be GIGANTIC!
  9. I don't want to do this project, I just want to work on the behind the scenes documentary about this guy trying to crew up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Because of the "lever factor" inherent with a 1/8" connector sticking up from the Lectrosonics receivers and pressing against one's hip, the internal receptacle gets bent over time and loses connection. A temporary MacGyver field fix is to carefully unscrew the knurled nut, and flip over the thin black spacer underneath. Then replace the nut and experiment with the tension so that the headset connection is completed. My only workable permanent solution has been to only use right angle headset connectors with the R1 and R1a receivers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Not sure about the Chicago area, but you can order it from Gotham Sound or Manhattan Wardrobe Supply here in NYC.
  12. I'd love to get my 788T off the WiFi spectrum. There are upwards of a hundred devices on set at any given time, and everybody's trying to find free internet, so I'm constantly having to monitor my CL-WiFi app to be sure I haven't been bumped... That being said, the "iPad only" factor of the Tonmeister app makes it unwieldy for bag work, so that and the metadata notes problem make it a dealbreaker... Maybe the next iteration of the 788T will have integrated BlueTooth and a proprietary app...
  13. Sorry. I was unclear. I meant creating a folder on my hard drive before formatting a mirror CF card.
  14. I think I've got it. If I create the new folder and THEN format the CF card AFTER creating the new folder, it puts new files in the old folder. If I format FIRST, then create the new folder for the day, the files go to the correct place. It happens every time I change the order and I believe it has nothing to do with power or anything else. It has to do with the protocol of the machine once a card has been formatted. Why? I can't say. Just a bug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I thought it might be an AM/PM issue, but the battery is another interesting avenue to investigate. I'm going to have to recheck on Monday. Thanks all!
  16. Has anybody else had a 788T-SSD save the first few files of the day into a previous day's folder and then the rest into the current daily one? Not the end of the world, if you aren't in a big hurry at the end of the day, but makes for a messy sound report, unless I transfer files into the correct folder on a laptop, then copy CF card to HDD folder to match. Also, I'd just kinda like to know what happened... Thanks in advance.
  17. Scott Breindel is the mixer, but I'm not certain whether he is on this group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'm with Larry and Peter on the Powerex Maha MH-C801D. There's a soft charging option (slower to charge, but better for the cells,) and a deep conditioning one (discharges battery fully and then recharges it) which extends the life of the battery and allows it to hold a full charge longer.
  19. Watched the season finale tonight. Yup, +1. Nice work, Phil and your crew.
  20. Wexler started a great thread here:
  21. I'm surprised that nobody else has mentioned the Mylar blanket that McKean wears. Crinkly AND a reception killer. Big fun! Phil?
  22. As a soundman with a touch of Fat Bastard myself, I recommend the Orca harness. Nice and light, and breathable.
  23. Now incorporating new Hybrid SuckerFish™ technology!
