  1. thanks for the flowers Jeff! I have done some minor improvements: the plate inside the lower case has been replaced by a bigger one, the top two poles too. Just feels safer. the front door of the top case works as my laptop table now. Table folds into the door, door can be taken off completely if needed, door is lid by a led stripe, laptop can be hooked up with the new m-audio firewire interface (playback, recording isos, backup system) Cooper mixer got his own led now to have better view in side the case where the gain pots are little x-mini loudspeaker sits inside the cart and is powered by a 12V-USB adapter Matthias
  2. you might wanna check out this old thread on my SKB cart with no extra frame but attached bicycle wheels: http://jwsound.net/SMF/index.php?topic=1488.msg9760#msg9760 there are some more pics on my website: http://www.schallrichter.de/soundcart.html balance is brilliant and I can separate the two cases in a minute. Best, matthias
  3. it certainly does work that way. Maybe I should have written "edit" instead of "change". If you choose to "edit" "Tom" on T3 into "Bob" there will be no "Tom" left and the "Tom" on T4 will also be changed to "Bob". If you choose "add new entry" you end up with Tom & Jerry ;-) At least thats how it works on the 744. Matthias
  4. what might happend: if "Tom" is on track 3 and also on track 4 and you change!! "Tom" on track 3 to "Bob" you have changed "Tom" on track 4 too. Try to "add a new entry" instead. Than you have "Bob" on track 3 but "Tom" stays available and therefor stays on track 4. Hope that is not too confusing ... Matthias
  5. very nice! I would like to know if they are working with Zaxcom TRXs Matthias
  6. when working off the cart with 12V smthin like this might come in handy to charge the x-mini: http://www.pro-car.de/en/produkte/pro116.html matthias
  7. Anyone tested the DPA 4081 on a Zaxcom TRX 900AA directly? Specs saying it needs 5V and Zaxcom outputs 3.3V ... Matthias
  8. did a mod to my 7506 and have attached a TB mic. I used a AudioTechnica Headset: http://www.thomann.de/de/audio_technica_athcom1.htm used the rubber thingy from the other side of the headset to fix the mic onto the side of my headphones. Works great with my Cooper TB input (dynamic in) and very cheap! Matthias
  9. just found out that all the strange things my TRX700 did was caused by the use of a micro SD+adapter instead of a standard mini-SD. Problems have been: display error (black bars blanking out half the screen), unit wouldn´t power on when using the switch, only when switched on already and then inserting the batteries, unit wouldn´t stay in Record-mode. But even with the standard miniSD one shouldn´t screw the battery cover too tight as this will lead to the same probs again. Matthias
  10. at least with Zaxcom rx4900 it doesn´t work as the loop through output is filtered according to your choosen block. And the modulus shouldn´t be within that block. Matthias
  11. have used my new CUB on my recent shoot on three occasions so far and it sounded amazing. Two times on a table for a wide shot where it sounded nearly as rich as a boom and one time attached to the ceiling of a small room, where the actress delivered one line only in the background. Director doesn´t mind actors watching playback on video village, so I often listen to the scene just shot on small speakers placed on VV. Me and my boom op were really amazed how good it sounds. Will buy a 2nd one as the cardioid pattern calls for two when you have people sitting in opposite directions. One of the items you will get much value for the money you´ve spent! Matthias
  12. check in the extended menu if you´re on TC auto load or something. It might be that the tx waits for tc. Had it with mine but it wouldn´t go in rec at all. After I set it to manual it would go in rec. Not sure but worth to check.
  13. not sure if that has been changed already but the digital signal coming out of the CMIT box would be just this a digital signal and you couldn´t gain it to standard level. Means a normal dialogue would arrive at the recorders input at maybe -60dBfs. One could later bring this up in a DAW but not on set ...
  14. I see. Have noticed that on some TRX900 too. On three my gain standard is around 18-22, on another two it´s around 35 ... Matthias
  15. absolutely right! Some actors just suck in all the energy so to speak. Billy when I´m on my cart I am too using the sharks and that makes a much much better range. Will check the connectors though. Btw is your TRX700 going up in gain to 35max or beyond? TRX900 goes up to 51 but with my new (used) 700 35 is max which is just enough for normal dialogue. Cheers, Matthias
  16. I think it was more that I would have needed 50 meters and was forced to be closer to the actors. I think overall the distance was between 15-25m. Its just that I used audio ltd in the past and had a feeling they had some greater range. I did replace the tx from the back of the talent to the side of the body facing me on the edge of frame which helped a bit. But talents do act and move so it wasn´t really a life saver. I thought about some small external antennas too. What is that Micron small rf distro thing? Is it activ or passive (needs power)?
  17. yes true. I didn`t really mean walk n talk with the camera, where it is a proper solution. I had a scene where the actors were walking but with a locked off camera. In the wide shot it was really hope and pray to get signal on the edge of the frame where I was standing. I just couldn´t get any closer to the actors. That´s when I´m not too happy with the performance of the RX900. Matthias
  18. it´s been a while within this thread but since I bought myself in addition to the RX4900 (4ch Zaxcom rec) 2x RX900S for working out of the bag and I am too having a hard time getting receiption with the wip antennas. Today maybe 50meters to the talent was the best I could get. What do you people do to get steady receiption? It can`t be the solution to walk with the actors throughout the scene. Is the QRX100 doing any better? Matthias
  19. I´ve got the 4063 (low dc for Zaxcom wireless) and the boundary tool but find it way too harsh. Too much high freq for my taste. I always used the hi cut to bring it down. Now I go with a Sanken CUB 01 which sounds much better to me. The boundary tool really is just a piece of rubber with a cut for the cable run and a hole for the mic. Nothing fancy. Matthias
  20. very interesting to follow your construction process / progress. Looks really clean and well thought out. How you gonna handle going on an airplane or shipping in general as you can`t separate the gear-box from the frame? Matthias
  21. with WaveAgent I produce the pdf+csv with scene-name, who is on which track or specific track names, smtimes I add some infos to the wild lines, atmos FX recordings. Of course there are the standard infos in the header too. in my handwritten report they will find all the mentioned infos plus specific hints to certain takes with or wout a problem, so the dialogue editor might find that one line easier to replace
  22. when writing handwritten reports how do you create duplicates for the different people? I tend to create the electronic report (pdf, csv) with the dailies, keep the written one with me, do a scan at home and send that as pdf to post and production. Matthias
