  1. Is there a DIY homebrew way to test a mic's frequency response, to at least get a rough idea? Or is an anechoic chamber the only way?
  2. Alright. Ancient aliens it is.
  3. If the lines where the tone is present are ADR takes, I'm surprised how well it matches the production sound. You'd think that a constant tone like that is easily notched out, or serves some other purpose. This tone mostly occurs during mumbling/soft moments, and maybe it helps "perk up" your ears. Assuming you still have that hearing range. I'm just imagining here.
  4. On some shows like Breaking Bad and True Detective, you can sometimes hear a high frequency tone on top of the dialog track, as if it was some kind of carrier tone. It also follows the same gate as the dialog so it must be a technique. Does anyone know what this is?
  5. I appreciate that. I've spoken to several specialists and it all comes down to my design being a parody under Fair Use, and I'm not selling it as official merch. I'd like to send it to them as a gift, but have yet to hear back from the PSM...
  6. Thanks everyone, I reached out to the PSM and look forward to his reply.
  7. I imagine that BR is flooded with calls every day about the movie, so I want to find a more appropriate channel.

  10. Hello sound galaxy, Does anyone know who's rolling sound on Episode VII? Naturally, I've got a not-creepy-and-very-relevant gift box of shirts to send to the sound crew. Live long and prosper, Matt

I would just find a way to clamp or c-stand secure a mic overhead. Let's be honest, anything more than a trusty 50 overhead would be overkill for your target audience.
  12. This is the same type of scam as those secrets-to-a-womans-brain-and-getting-laid-quickly programs. Moving on.
  13. I'd be more concerned with a plane flying by during the take. 22 can be rough, but you get a spot open towards the end of the block.
  14. According to Jan @ Betso, the 1N has improved battery life, the BNC WC Out can become a TC IN, and more pull up/down options. Otherwise, the original SBOX works just fine. I do the usual rejam after lunch, and no issues from post. Although I haven't used it in extreme climates yet.
  15. I'd invest in a more versatile mixer/recorder to grow with. Like a SD 633. Your H4n can continue being the "super low budget", if you continue to take those gigs.
  16. XX seems to be a new suffix or batch. Neither SD or Delkin has heard about this, and are looking into it. I'll be filing an RMA with Delkin anyway. No fights - just reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this.
  17. Thanks Canan. If you read my original post, you'll see this doesn't apply to my newer P/N card.
  18. http://www.sounddevices.com/notes/mixers/663-664-approved-media/ Delking 700X 16GB UDMA6 listed.
  19. Mike - I've already passed TS100, TS201, & RTFM304 courses.
  20. Hi Everyone, I'm getting "Media I/O" or "Unknown Media" Errors on the 633 with these approved 16GB Delkin 700X CF Cards. I have two, and the 633 doesn't like either of them. I know KZ or VB numbers have issues, but both cards have the P/N: CF16AJZBR-XX000-P They worked for first few runs... but all of a sudden, do not. Tried recording straight tone, single ISO, mix, or both - Media I/O error under 3 minutes When I try to (re)format - Media I/O error or it locks up. The weird thing is both cards run just fine in my 664. Straight tone to mix, aux, and 6 ISOs for an hour. Any ideas? I could send these back but it just seems like my 633 doesn't like 'em.
  21. Dunno about you guys, but this thread needs more Rado.
  22. Glad the design printed well. Thanks again, Dave!
