  1. I'm with Nate. Pretty much every Alexa shoot I've sent a mix track either through a beta snake or stereo RF and rolled on my end. But all of my gigs consists of camera's that can take some form of audio. Unless the camera op., producer, upper management insists of not having it, than I won't feed it. Otherwise if it has inputs, I'll feed it. Gabe
  2. Palmer, pretty cool especially when your bag looks pretty compact and light. Rado, Palmer, I'm curious about the range you guys got/get with the dipoles. I have a Nomad, micplexer, QRX setup also and would like to know if the dipoles contribute enough for the cost expense. Gabe
  3. I ain't sure if he could since he spent some time just looking for the right BNC to use that would fit the latest casing.
  4. My ERX's had the original bodies without the volume 'protector' so I had to get the new bodies for the mod to work. The service guy over at Audio Department; Burbank, CA. removed the volume knob, cut, routed, and soldered a lead from the board to the BNC. So the BNC is sending TC while the jack sends audio. Gabe
  5. I had the service guy at a rental shop in Burbank replace the volume knob with a BNC so it could output TC while still feeding audio though the mini-jack. Down side is that I lost 2 ERX's as a comtek feed for clients. But when I need to feed scratch and TC to any camera that accepts both, I'm golden. Gabe
  6. It could be the motor and/or gears that the focus puller is using not necessarily the Bartech. Another well known and often use are Preston Cinema Systems. Gabe
  7. Did you cut and sew the compartment where the dual battery housing sits in? That's a pretty nifty idea. Gabe
  8. That's a serious cage you got there for your QRX. I love it. Is it custom made? I'm curious as to why you have it on the camera handle? Gabe
  9. Here's an idea although it would significantly increase the price of the panel and delay the product, a small LCD screen. Gabe
  10. The Nomad knobs in a smaller form would be more suitable if they are to be used as faders.
  11. Happy Birthday Jeff. Hope your having a good one. Gabe
  12. I've been working with the F5 for a couple weeks and though it produces pretty pictures like any camera of that price point, the UI is standard "Sony". Its an easy transition if you ever had to deal with other Sony cameras; pretty straight forward as far as audio setting and TC in the menu. BUT the menu response time is atrociously slow, no numbered meter marking on the display, the TC I/O switch next to the connector does not work (Could be only an issue with the one I've been using) so it could only output TC, and you have to be careful not to max out the monitor out setting or you could distort your return from the camera. Otherwise with a nice set of glass or not; on a recent job the DP used a $14 lens and the images still look good, you could make some nice moving pictures. The DP I've been working with on it for a few jobs discovered that putting the system in thumbnail mode and then going into the menu settings would pop up the menus through any of the SDI outputs, I believe. Gabe
  13. I am curious as to why the option is no longer available. I apologize about side-tracking the thread but would the TX amp for the Micplexer always need an antenna even if it is not being plugged into a TRX900 and used? Gabe
  14. I have a Micplexer configured with the transmitter input and it would be an added plus if it could work with the Camera Link. Just a thought. Gabe
  15. Can it be utilized with a micplexer? Gabe
  16. Hey all. For those using TRX900 series TX's any of you use the dynamics settings? If so can you please share your settings. Been playing around with it and wanted to know what others use. Mine are... Speed: Fastest Attack: Fastest CMP ratio: 3.5:1 CMP thresh: -7dB CMP knee: 8dB EXP ratio 1:1.10 (Factory default) EXP thresh: -40dB (Factory default) Reduce -12dB (Factory default) Gain: 2dB The limiter is set at -9dB. Thanks in advance. Gabe
  17. As mentioned by others, thank you for the insight, comments, and service Tom.
  18. On the LBE vest go to 511tactical.com, under store locator to find where they distribute their stuff. I got my vest and pouches from Quartermaster in Santa Ana, CA. Quartermaster also has a website and a few stores locally in the LA area. Probably any store that caters to law enforcement which Quartermaster does will have stock otherwise you can find this stuff online. The Maxpedition items I bought straight from their online store. There distribution warehouse is in LA which makes for a quick delivery but you are hit with the sales tax.
  19. I just started using a 5.11 tactical vest along with some pouches from the same company. Its way overkill but my utility belt I was using was cutting into my waist so I opted to lug everything on my shoulders. I've pretty much downside how much ancillary stuff I carry during the transition. A company called Maxpedition (http://www.maxpedition.com) makes a rolled up pouch called a rollypolly in 3 varying sizes which can hold a lot including a Denecke compact slate (Its there medium pouch) during those times you gotta carry one. Keep in mind that this stuff ain't cheap.
  20. I've been doing some crunches and pushups in the morning and evening whether I'm working or not. I do a very short jog when not working and wear an adjustable back brace when I work. I'm really strict about coffee intake; only for the really early call times and only 1 (For the drive up to LA). I really try not to drink soda on set or on-location and therefore use my camelpak as often as I can. I get total bizarre stares, looks, jokes, etc from crew but that inhibits me from going down the caffeine route for the day. To me its well worth it even if its extra weight when lugging the bag. Gabe
  21. Was the camera on AC or DC? Was there a monitor connected to the camera? And if so, was the monitor AC or DC? Were either 2 plugged into the same circuit as the lights? Gabe
  22. Are you trying to control the TX through one of the hard faders or ZNET? If through a hard fader: Follow Matt's instructions about Unit ID then in Nomad, Main menu - Fader Assign - assign a Z where the hard fader will control it; ie. TX 1, Unit ID 1 goes into input channel 1 and will be controlled by hard fader 6, so assign "Z" to input 1 hard fader 6. Its like assigning an analog input to a hard fader but instead your assigning 'Z'axnet. If through ZNET: Go into any ZNET page and dial the frequency in. All gain changes would need to be done through that page for that TX. When only dealing with 2 wires, I usually use faders 5 and 6 to control the TX gain. Any more than that I use ZNET but I find it sorta cumbersome. Gabe
  23. Its interesting that you brought this up Courtney cause I was doing an A2 job last week where the gaffer used all LED lighting (Don't remember the brand) for a 3 person sit down interview in a very small room. The mixer complained of RF issues even though he was 15' away from all 3 talent. We did our due diligence in testing the wires out before hand but didn't verify the RF after lighting had done their jobs. We both ASSumed there wouldn't be any issues. Afterwards we both chalked it up to being at Universal but still, in the same room at a range of 15'. On the next gig with this gaffer I'll break out my RF Explorer and see if the lights he uses puts out any RF. Gabe
  24. I've been doing BTS the last couple of days on a commercial and the DIT runs his own Honda 2000 on his cart until shore power is provided. The electrics don't care, some of them were probably surprised he had one. So it just depends I guess. Gabe
  25. Sorry Jeff and Greg, my 742 currently has a taker once it comes back, whether he'll want it once it comes in, won't know till than but if he doesn't I'll definitely put it up on the forum. My 700 is the only other plug-on I have so I'll be keeping that one. Sorry. Gabe
