  1. for those who live in the uk, and maybe you can get this in the US? I've replaced the wiring, the headband and the drivers 17 times, but they're still my old headphones....
  2. they have a range from the 854 to 861 mhz...so yes, 7. Should be fine, thanks for the advice and luck!
  3. Very true, I thought that too until I went to Mallorca with my ch69 audios....every frequency was trounced. But generally yes.....thing is, we'll have 6 freq's up on the audios, 3 on our sennheiser g2s and 3 on our zaxcom links. I can see that there is one mobile operator 'live' on GSM 850, which is in and around the Audios freq range, but the coverage is reasonably small. The G2s can go down to 830mhz and the zaxcom are in the 700 mhz range. Just wondered if any of you chaps/ladies had been there/done that kind of thing. Rob.
  4. Hi all, am heading to Bolivia and Chile soon and was wondering if anyone had any location experience with radio mics in these areas. I was hoping to be able to use my Audio Ltd Ch69 (854.900-861.750mhz) but was worried that mobile phone usage may be in this range and wondered what you might recommend. I will be in both built up (La Paz) and jungle/andes areas. Many Thanks, Rob.
  5. Can't believe you hang that round your neck! My back just slipped a disc looking at it...
  6. saw that strapped to a Red on a job last week....seemed to work very well.....
  7. Can't tell whether that porta brace would accomodate my petrol bag....? Its the Eargoniser PEGZ-2 I think. I use the kts raincover at the moment, and its very good, but I was wondering if the porta brace was quicker to put on? Rob.
  8. Totally agree with the critique of the rycote stickies, I like them though - if I have to move them too much, I tend to put some double sided onto them as it gives me a bit more tack, but I'm interested in these items we have here....availability in the u.k? If I use a cos with its pop shield on, I put a small strip over the mic to stick it to the stickie itself, this also helps keep the overcover in place, then toupee tape to the non-mic side and that seems to work for long periods. I have gone as far as putting a v small safety pin, also taped onto the non-mic side, pin it on, then stick the whole thing down. In other words, the stickie is the base for a 'rig' I suppose. There seems to be alot of worry about people being pro/anti products on here, I understand that the wrong words, or unfounded criticism can harm a product on a forum like this, but there has to be the freedom to promote something we like/say its doo doo? Anyway, thats prob a thread in itself, so, the stickie, has its place, but I would like to get my hands on these 'dots'. (.)(.) Rob.
  9. try this combination for cos-11.. http://www.sanken-mic.com/en/product/product_accessories.cfm/5.1005900 the 'pin-11' and the 'wsl-11' with - http://www.rycote.com/products/personal_mics/furries/ over the top....feed the cos through the little label on the rycote first, prevents you losing it when/if it blows off. Its bulky, but the pin 11 keeps the cos away from clothing, and is unlikely to fall off, the extra large mesh windjammer keeps the rycote well away from the mic and gives a bigger airgap. There's the option of using the cos 11 vampire clip thats now available..I have cut one down to fit the large mesh screen and it works pretty well and is slightly more streamline that the pin 11. As we all know its a compromise from the off. Sometimes the clothing can act like a wind baffle, sometimes like a wind tunnel. This system is bulky and will therefore only suit certain situations where it can still be hidden....I sometimes use a cos on a rycote sticky, with the normal size mesh on, a bit of dbl sided over the lower portion of the mic to keep it in place on the sticky, then the furry overcover on top of that. It needs some pressure around the rim of the sticky to seat it properly, and then I use dbl sided again to attach a tiny safety pin on the sticky which i attach to the clothing, then stick the whole thing down over the top of it. Your beast bike reminds me of the day when I was over filming with a certain car nut chat show host, and as we were leaving he wheeled this monster jet car off a low loader - it was absolutely massive and looked amazing, yet insane. As was his car collection. He had a V8 bike and a car with a tank engine in amongst others. Nice chap though....except when he walked off as I was trying to mic him up. :/
  10. I would have gone for the tie knots if possible, you need to have atleast the wire mesh of the cos poking out below the line of the knot...it's a fiddlier rig, and may get you a 'what are you doing boy?' like I did from the Mayor of Vegas to name but one, but hey, you get your mic in, it sounds good, job done. As for green screen, like the man said, boom in shot, its going to be cut out. There's bound to be posts about tie rigs for cos 11s, but if not, one of us can run you through it I'm sure. Sorry if its grandma egg sucking, just trying to cover all bases.

    Soundfield Mic

a footnote to all this - does anyone have any idea of the 'workflow' for B-format? Does it go straight to the dub, or get put into the edit as 4 tracks ready for the dub to decode? Cheers, Rob.

    Soundfield Mic

My plan is to have the soundfield on a stand, and only pull it out when I think it's worth it. Also, I'll be renting it, not that that means I won't be taking care of it, but will be a bit less reluctant to keep it in the van... It comes with a full rycote suspension, I will be going into a 744t which I believe has a soundfield monitoring matrix? I'm going in next week to have a look at it all anyway, will let you know how I get on with it if I use it. The hire company have built a small box to before the 744t with adjustable pad settings, as he said the mic level out from the soundfield is quite 'hot' and needs some attenuation in certain situations. I think the one I'm using it in will be such a situation.
