    Tuna T's

Got mine too, Larry - thanks! I'll have a gig in Brasilia in a couple of weeks (luckily, they don't pay me with tuna subs, but with caipirinhas, which is a bit better...) I'll make sure to take a picture there, with the shirt on! Cheers, BK
  2. I'm shoched to hear that, Senator - SHOCKED!
  3. So it's basically an audition for the feature - which will undoubtedly be the highest-grossing ultra-low budget film ever produced, with potential for multiple award nominations... BK
  4. Sometimes I write back and explain that they risk losing the person if a better-paying job comes along, so it's risky and false economy. I haven't received a reply. I simply think they don't get it... BK
  5. I just saw this one on CL: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cwg/3136902330.html Offering $100/day (with gear!!) for thirteen days. They lost the original mixer (I wonder why...) and now are scrambling to replace them. I've sent notes in the past pointing out their poor decisionmaking, but have obviously never heard back from them. I wonder if it's even worth it... BK
  6. This is gonna be an interesting thread... BK
  7. I guess you can record a VO with your name and email address every 15 seconds and mix it with the delivered audio - which you will replace with clean production audio once they pay... BK
  8. I actually heard these words uttered by a... Difficult actor on set last week: "You want me to go all Christian Bale on you?" That raised a few eyebrows...
  9. This has been mentioned elsewhere, but there's an outfit in NZ called Powermedia Pro or somesuch, that sells NP1s for less than $100, and the chargers as well, for much less than IDX. So far, I've had no problems. HTH, BK
  10. Can you specify the material? For instance, the hardness or rigidity of the plastic? Cheers, BK
  11. If anything, they could have placed it a bit right, as that's where he's in the frame... BK
  12. Thanks a lot for that! I wasn't aware that might be a viable option, as I'm always concerned with keeping the mic and cable in as good condition as possible... Thanks again, BK
  13. Michael, I'm a newbie to this forum, but have been dealing with batteries for quite a few years. I bought the Batteries4Broadcast (nee GlobalMediaPro, from New Zealand) starter kit: two NP-1s and a two-bay charger. Actually, I ordered straight from the NZ OEM (though they're all made in China, even IDXs, but I digress...) which saved me about twenty bucks, once you factor the shipping, etc. Anyhow, they seem to be well put together, and I frankly doubt there are any serious differences between them and IDXs. I checked various reviews and feedback in other forums, and all other owners seem pretty satisfied - especially considering the savings. I also have a PCS BDS, pretty common setup among mixers, from what I've seen. HTH, BK
  14. I have three Sony UWP-V1 wireless mic kits, which use AA batteries. On a typical shoot, I'll go through 6-10 AA batteries a day, and I'm looking for an option, because I hate going through so many batteries. I have a set of NiMH rechargable batteries, but they take an eternity to recharge, and I can't really trust them on a busy set. I know there are better ($$) wireless systems out there, but these have served me extremely well and I don't see a reason to get rid of them - though I might be buying a couple of Lectros when the time comes to upgrade. My kit has a BDS ( with an NP-1 brick) powering a 552 and a Tascam DR680, which leaves room to power the three receivers. The Sonys have sliders which house two AA batteries. I'm not experienced in this type of adaptation, but it seems to me that I buy get a few of those sliders as spare parts and turn them into battery eliminators, with a cable going into the BDS. If any of "youse" has any suggestions or pointers, I'd be extremely grateful for your help. Cheers, BK
  15. Michael, I'd love to jump at this opportunity. I've been doing sound for a couple of years (though I have 20 years of production experience) and wish to "move up" from ENG/run & gun shoots. I have put together a decent kit, which has served me well for web series, pilots and other similar projects. What I need now is experience and a chance to work under the wiser and more successful members of the community. I have a few IMDB credits, so I'm not exactly flying under the radar, and have a couple of directors and producers who hire me repeteadly - I'd be happy to provide references. Thanks kindly for the offer, BK
