  1. I was told once that if a 416 is dropped or is exposed to extreme loudness, the damage can show up as it sounding very sibilant. Maybe that was the problem? Therefore if its sibilant on the boom, and the lav's are normal, it points to a faulty mic. If both boom and lav is sibilant, its something else.
  2. Forget those doubts, its really cheap, and for a tool that puts food on my family's table, and saves my back, it was a no brainer purchase for me.
  3. trim.eL6R2F.MOV New tech for the sound dept?
  4. Sorry small diversion from topic, but it seems like Occulus rift can be quite immersive https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uT_b5gqCG_c
  5. For the boom??? So you heard it from Mirror, you can use Viagra to clean your boompole
  6. Hmmmm, mine are very different.
  7. 8060noise.mov Does the sound, sound anything like this? I was getting this occasionally with my HM, but not on my UH. I could never replicate it at home, only on set. I found that once I disconnected the ground from the XLR shell in the header lead (Rycote header leads from conn box are wired with shield to shell) I have no longer heard the noise. I guessed that as the HM uses the case as the antenna having the XLR shell connected to ground messed with the antenna of the HM allowing interference from something on set. I'd be interested to hear anyone else with this noise has ground to XLR chassis and if disconnecting fixes the problem. Hope this is of some help.
  8. A little bit of history... The Dolly was first developed to teach grips how to walk upright....
  9. I'm filling in on a show at the moment where they are often filming at 100fps (pal country 25fps is normal.) Ramping done in post, head slates. All good.
  10. try taking the internal battery out and powering just from external. I had mine refuse to turn on once, and I got it back by doing this.
  11. You can name the tracks on the 788 what ever you want. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding your question.
  12. I think this quote from Timo regarding the slate answers your question Jeff "thanks so much for the constructive feedback. We are aware of these legitimate requests and are working on a solution as we speak."
  13. Are you going to ask the actors with lav1 or 2 to stand next to the slate so the editor can hear it??? I wonder if the editor really knows what he is asking for, but there could be good reasons we don't know about.
  14. FYI, After sending in a sound file and history of my mic to my local dealer, they heard back from sennheiser today that they will swap out the mic for a new one. Im very happy with that result. Especially since my latest problem was intermittent.

    Theremini

The story of the inventor Leon Theramin, is facinating. Kidnappings, KGB, Espionage, Art and Music. Its got it all.... Great doco about called Theramin, an electronic odyssey. Edit, Hey Jim....snap
  16. Thats no good, was it the noise floor issue each time?
  17. 8060noise.mov Anyone heard this noise on their 8060. Fixed by swapping out to my 2nd 8060. The problem mic has been to germany for a 'factory upgrade' due to the high noise floor issue. This one is intermittant, so hard to problem solve. BTW, the boom was just getting slate for that shot. Edit; Im not sure that link is working, I just tried it on my phone and no dice, I'm not sure how to fix it. The best I can describe the noise is like an electronic squiggle...
  18. Thats great news Timo. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Cheers, Nick
  19. I picked up the new Ambient slate yesterday and here's some feedback that you may be interested in. Firstly, I like the ease of setup, same as lockit boxes, therefore no probs. The first response from camera AC was regarding the lack of handle. We were shooting near/over water and their first comment was it was awkward doing one handed slates and feeling like they had a good grip. No surprises on that one. There is no obvious spot to attach a handle, I'll have to put some more thought into that one. The second point was the brightness of the T/C display. It was too bright for night. We turned it down as far as it could go and put a piece of ND6 over the display and it was still a touch too bright. Half way through the night I asked for any other feedback and it was mentioned that the jaws open and close too easily, and a magnet would be good to keep them shut, such as with Denecke slates. I tried tightening up the screws at the hinge, but that doesn't make any difference to the stiffness of the hinge, maybe there is a bearing in there. All good points I think, and hopefully useful feedback. Cheers, Nick
  20. Curious that US rules can apply to equipment that is overseas, but I guess Lectro is a US business and they must comply. Maybe we just need to have the magic yes tones leaked
  21. Here's the response I got from Lectro, I'll quote from the email Hello, I forwarded your question to my service manager, and this is what was passed on to me: Clarification on unblocked 23 - 1. No transmitters bearing FCC markings can have the block 23 unblocked - that means the UM400a, HH, HM, WM, LMa, SMV and SMQV - the restrictions have been tightened on those units. 2. The E01 export transmitter models have 23 unlocked. a. The SM /E01 series transmitters (SMDB/E01 and SMB/E01) can be enabled for higher power levels and US deviation using the factory yes tone. b. The HM/E01 and HH/E01 cannot be enabled for higher power levels or US deviation. There is no provision for doing so, they ar designed with fixed power. So, unfortunately, if your existing equipment is of the US version then no, it is not possible to enable the TV37 range of frequencies. It is also not possible to convert an existing US version to an E01 export model. However, should you decide to try and swap those out or purchase new, then get the SMB/E01 or SMDB/E01 transmitters and the SRB/E01 receivers, and so on.
  22. Of whether the blocked frequencies can be made available to users outside the USA
  23. Interesting... From my reading of the frequency charts here in australia, the frequencies are available. Radio Astronomy is listed as a secondary user, covering all of our radio blocks, therefore the situation is the same for all blocks. So those frequencies are available for us. But our local seller has advised that lectro cannot make it available. Therefore I'm after a second opinion.
  24. Im wondering if it is possible for lectro users outside the USA to have full access to the frequencies on block 23? Im thinking it may just be a change of firmware. And with the squeeze in frequencies we are about to experience, the more Frequencies to play with the better.
