The David Kelson Sound HI-Fidelity Music Playback System is a computer controlled, dedicated system optimized for motion picture music playback. It's features include a custom built playback controller with provisions for Pro Tools, compact disc (aiff), broadcast .wav, flac, dvd-ram, mp3, iPad and various other sources. Included is two handheld wireless mics and a Frequency Variable Thumper that may keyed from a ProTools click track or from an external electronic metronome. In addition, a handheld directors remote control is available. The playback system also includes full location music recording ability and a customizable wireless delivery system for music supervisors, composers, and editors to receive recorded music files instantly.
Description:
In its largest form, it is a tri-amplified system consisting of an Urei 3-way stereo electronic crossover, 3 Urei/J.B.L. power amplifiers delivering 3600 r.m.s. watts to a modular, modified J.B.L. loudspeaker system. Its nominal impedance is 4 ohms. All drivers are from the J.B.L. Professional Series. They include four 18" subwoofers and four 15" woofers as found in the Lucas Sound T.H.X. Theater System. Also utilized are four 8" mid-range drivers and four bi-radial high-frequency horns as used by J.B.L. in high-quality sound-reinforcement and studio monitor applications.
It is often challenging to anticipate the specific conditions of use a modern motion picture playback system may encounter, but the system has proven to achieve optimal performance and ease of use in a wide variety of shooting situations from large scale music videos to major film projects at Disney, Fox, Paramount, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures.
