  1. Probably not. What did you think, mirror, what I am thinking? Just curious, btw, and sorry for taking the thread off-route
  2. Sorry, but what is a "Jews section" supposed to be?
  3. I'm sure Justan's post wasn't meant as a derogatory comnent.
  4. Well, considering Ambient promised new features for years for their original TC reader app which never happened, I'm not holding my breath. OTOH if they do bring it out eventually I'm sure it'll be a great app.
  5. A carnet isn't only needed when travelling to another country, but also for when you return to your own.
  6. Malcolm, this hog's hair has been mentioned a few times around here. Would you happen to have a link for where you vought this and which type? I've been looking around, but there are many different types. Thanks!
  7. Totally agree. However, this could be discussed in PrePro where you can offer this system as a complete solution to expedite their post process, while making sure that it is your software, but their responsibility. In fact, you might even be able to collect some extra rental for this solution
  8. I'm not comparing the RX12 to the Venue. I'm comparing it to the Octopack or the corresponding product from Zaxcom where you can use the same receivers in either in the rack or individually in the bag. I don't know the actual size of the RX12, sorry I criticized it prematurely. It's just that for me, and at such a price point, I'll always prefer the product with the greatest flexibility. There seems to be the "risk" that I might need the RX12 and individual QRXs as well.
  9. But with the individual receivers you have much greater flexibility, as you can use them in the bag or on the cart. It may be possible to put the RX12 in the bag, but it will probably be a bit if a struggle
  10. Brickbeard said it: the Tentacle has a built in microphone. Supposedly the is on par with the built in mic. So on the cam you'll get one channel of audio and one of tc. The mic works with plug-in power from the camera, so it'll work even if the Tentacle is off. Otherwise you can use a y-cable if you have an external mic on the camera.
  11. I think they will deliver this with a trs (or trrs) to bnc adaptor cable - iirc
  12. I don't think you watched the video from the beginning. The idea was that the actress is supposed to cry for the scene and is just getting ready to do so, when the guy interrupts the emotionality to clap the slate. Cue Tentacle. At the end of the video they can shoot this without the interruption of the slate, because of TC sync and thus she is able to cry for the scene. Naturally the director is happy about this. This is neither sexist nor German humour.
  13. I assume they sacrificed AA battery for size. The battery lasts for 40 hours. Even if it loses half it's capacity, it'll still last for more than I need for one day. Especially if I have two. These are almost priced as expendables. Once they eventually fail, you buy a new one. That is, if it's not changeable. If you check out the crowdfunding campaign you can buy a set of tentacles a lot cheaper than what it will be sold at eventually. I would like to stress the sync software that comes with it, that is really the highlight of the system. With it you can sync your dailies within seconds, minutes at most. It takes native camera files and syncs with audio, creating a new file. So for the editor it's like working with camera audio. It can sync with TC embedded in the file or TC recorded as audio. The latter takes a bit longer, of course. You can literally sync everything on the way back to the airport. This system enables TC based workflow even when shooting with a 5D and a Zoom.
  14. Excellent, good to know. Don't think anyone is confused
  15. Are you sure it records AES3? I thought it only does AES42, analogue mono and stereo
  16. Also, there are embedded OMFs, that will include all the audio, destroy metadata, have 10sec limit on handles, a 2GB file size limit and so on. And then there are referenced OMFs which do not have any of these shortcomings. I should add though that it's been a while since I've done this kind of work.
  17. and as far as I knew, this was considered SOP?
  18. Neumann have just resumed production of the U47 fet in a limited edition. While the original is certainly a collectible, and can be hard to find, this one may well become one, too. Apparently they have used their original plans to recreate the mic, but I don't know where the capsule comes from. A lot will depend on it and may play a role in the mic becoming a classic and collectible
  19. So basically: NeverClip. Nice!
  20. Not too bad, though. Thanks for explaining
  21. What kind of weird black garlic do you eat?
  22. The wide shot rarely matches the tight shot. That's kind of why we are all fed up by the new practice of shooting wide and tight and the same time. This is especially true with noisy backgrounds. I'd be a fool if I tried to make the tight shot sound like the wide shot
  23. Only if 2 is half of 3. 788T's 1.7 kilos vs 633's 1.1 kilos
