  1. Thanks Guys, I have been using the 552 for about a year on a few different shows and have never experienced this bleeding not crosstalk. When the pot is turned down to the off position, in some circumstances, I can here the signal assigned to that channel. As I said I have been using these mixers for sometime and in several different situations, and have not experienced this type of problem. I do a lot of reality and don't have the luxury of muting or dialing out unused channels do to the nature of the format. I do think that it maybe very sensitive pots. I have experienced this with the 788 and the 442 but not to this extent. I will be calling SD to find out if there is anything that can be done. Thanks all Rob
  2. Hi all, I have been using a rental 552 with 4 411a's and have noticed a crosstalk issue, and wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and how it can be fixed? The 411a's are set at -30 and the UM's are set at 12 o'clock or less so the levels are not excessive. I haven't had this issue since I stopped using the X5. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? Thank you for any help. PS the gear is rental gear but is a friends gear and want to help him fix the problem. Thanks again.
  3. Thanks Pascal, I have been using wireless equipment for a long time and have a good knowlege of it but I can always learn more. Many of your points are good and valid. I do however have to say that Zaxcom and Lectro can live harmoniously if freq coordination is done and you aren't traveling outside the local area you coordinated for. Having said that I have been in situations where they (Zaxcom & Lectro) can and will fight one and other giving you less than desirable effects. I just wanted to say thanks for the learning opportunity. Each of us do things in our own way and it's good to see it from another perspective and maybe even learn a new way. Thanks for your two cents. Rob
  4. I've been using WA on an MBP w/ 10.6.6 with no issues. I really like the ability to easily add comments and save and send sound reports at the end of each day. Still playing with settings but really like this app.
  5. DjGo, Phil is right there are others that don't need the loop which is a pain. The link below goes to the Phonak site and has several solutions. I used the Comtek version and it works great if you are in a moderately noisy place. If you are playing back music and any volume where the actor needs to hear the ear piece will be useless. I used this on two seasons of a reality show and had several problems because the version we had was a single frequency, but there are adjustable freq versions, and we couldn't coordinate it with the different areas we went to and had interference problems. As Phil said it is visible from the side and may not fit securely in the talents ear and could fall out and get stepped on and broken. It happened to me on a game show, we went through two in one day. Good luck, I hope this helps. http://www.phonak-communications.com/en/studio/studio-products/in-ear-radio-receiver/
  6. Mike, I use to live in Vegas and many of the blocks that the Senator stated will work, but the spectrum is filling fast and Vegas has a huge amount of RF with all the show rooms and other shows, conventions and sporting events on. I have a few friends that can help you with both cities with the info you need. Contact Frenando Delgado from Stickman Sound at 702-595-4088 for block and freq coordination. You can also try Steve Varner at SoundTronics Wireless at 702-873-9666 for both cities as well. It may cost you but it's better to be safe than sorry. Rob
  7. Glenn, Thank you for the info. I would like to know why that unit, the RX900, is the only piece you now make that can't be user upgraded? It is, as Peter stated, not advantageous to send it back for upgrades. I love your stuff. Do you make or can I get flexible antennas for the RX900? The solid core antennas get bent and break fairly easily in the reality situation. Thanks for the info. I'll be looking for that upgraded. Rob
  8. Tom, I am on a Reality show right now and we just got 552s after using 442s and I really like the extra channel and the quality of the sound this mixer puts out. The menus are easy to get around although Sven, the voice that tells you what the menus are, is a bit tough to understand. This mixer is well built a bit lighter then the 442 and that's helpful when you are carrying it for a while. The mic pres are SD quality and the feel of the mixer is solid. I am really thinking about buying one myself so I would highly recommend this mixer. I have not recorded on this one but if it is like the 744 or 788 I think you will be satisfied. I hope that helps. Take care. Rob
  9. Thanks all I used staples and gaff tape to build a bridge over the buttons. I then gaffed them over the buttons of the RX 900 and it seems to be working. Thanks again for the help and the good tips. I wouldn't have thought of the hotel room keys as a way to do this but now I have another way to get it done. Thanks and take care.
  10. Hi Folks, I am trying to find out if there is a way to lock the menu on the RX 900S like you can do on the TRX 900. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I am using them on a reality show in a pouch that the camera guys wear on their waists and they lean on the buttons and change the freq. It hasn't become a problem yet but has the potential for disaster. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Rob P
  11. Ken, Question 1) Yes he did get out run. He's not the fastest, and if you worked with him you know, but he did run. Question 2) You know TV magic. The Officers were pros and so were the editors. Enough said. Thanks for the good comments. God Bless Rob
  12. First guilty as charged. Second we rode around in vehicles, a lot, I rode in the trunk (just kidding). It was a blast and I'll do it again if they'll have me.
  13. JP, For the sonar thing, ask if there is an extra set of cans and tape in a mic. Put the mic into the headphones and tape them shut with gaff or e-tape. I use that technique with helicopters and it works great. Have a great time. rob
  14. Yes Jeff, Phil's comment is a good one. Make this thread a reference for future use. The info for those of us who may be a bit rusty or for those who haven't used this piece before would greatly benefit from it. Rob Polhemus
  15. I like the Digico D1 and D5. They are very intuitive and flexilbe. You can do FOH & Monitors, multi bands and corporate gigs. One bad thing is the static charge situation. You must ground yourself before touching this console or you could fry the cpu. I really like this console.
