I just started a docu production with 24/96 settings. Mainly to record the MS mic Installed on my camera on a SX-R4+ I‘m a camera guy and the tests in Resolve, the finder and iTunes I’ve done, read those files without problems... Pat

Here in Switzerland the union also admits 1/2 day for 1 day travel. I do it differently as I ask to pay a full day but in a lower rate cathegory. I do travel a lot abroad and often take 2 days (up to 20hours travelling /day) to get where we shoot).

Hello, I'm using a CCM8 and CCM41 in a cinela osix suspension and Leo MS windshield. Usually the M8 is on top and the M41 on the bottom. For the camera rig I use I would love to flip my mount so that at the end the M8 is on the bottom. But after decoding Left and Right track would be inverted. Is is so that if I turn the M8, 180 degrees in the mount I would reestablish the right Left/Right orientation? Are there other factors in play? Thanks for any infos. Patrick

and you can check if there is any clothes noises when installed on the talent before starting the session. I use the VT506 mobile with an Iphone and Tentacle sync recorder but I have to make a recording test to see if the mic is correctly installed. Headphone out makes it more easy.

Make it Stereo and with AES in option! 😉 And with the Headphones out minijack put the option to output a TC.

A technology that dates back from the 90’s télécinéma machine (made by Kodak) that has been first patented by Zaxcom. Copy pasted by Sounddevices for another patent. The next company could put 4 A/D and also patent it. Is this innovation? Good the evolution made this tech easily available for a variety of end users. Still curious to see how Zaxcom will respond to that patent.

PS: Sounddevices has a patent for a triple AD converter. Love how they overpassed the Zaxcom patent. Curious to see how an US patent will fight another US patent in a US court.

Is it based on a dual A/D like Sonosax and neverclip or is it based on another tech?

I don’t understand why professionals work on consumer tools. You can use a recorder minimum 4 years. 7 if it’s a class1 recorder. You usually rent it. Even if you do 1% a day, 3 days a week it’s easy to have RIO. My mic is 20 years old and still sounds sweet. Ps: If the AD8+ is overkill, you still can add a small 2 mic preamp to your setting using the new M2D2 preamp and connect it to the TA3 AES input of the recorder.

Hello, Looking at your 7 years of experience and also you want to upgrade your recorder I’ll advise you make the jump to a Sonosax SX-R4+ and the AD8+ module. Best preamp out there. You have also an AMBEO ambisonic card option in the recorder If you want a slick setup. Power management/consumption is also fantastic on this recorder. Not 3k though... I love mine. Pat

Hello Kisaha, I understand that you had to work with some older that never got you any infos and I am sorry for you (and them). But I don't believe that nurturing other professionals with your input will kill your job. As you know it's not only some great equipement, tutorials and some knowhow that will give you the job, but how you are as a human with other professionals. What you can give to the others. What value you bring to the project. And IMHO this process starts with nurturing the youngsters. Pat

Is the limitation of audio monitoring and recording due to the Zaxcom patent? As I understand you can monitor it with the app but not record and monitor it at the same time? Would be great if they buy the license... ! (and add an external mic input 😉 )
