It has the exact same form factor as the UHF version but completely different internals, Can someone clarify if these bad boys take 9V or AA? I have been moving away from 9V for a few reasons that I won't go into and it would be good to know if these are the same as all other new Lectrosonics products (AA)

Wow, I'm very honoured at the opportunity to get some of your feedback Justin but before you go on about how much experience you have with timecode and music videos, you should make sure you are correct when giving advice. Here is a video I just shot on my iPhone of my slate in "Reader" mode accepting free run timecode from the 664 and then switching to the timecode of the audio file i'm playing Personally; I have no idea why ANYONE would believe that the 664 can only output timecode whilst in record, Do you actually put your mixer in record while you go and jam all the cameras on set? Pvanstry: Yeah, thats one of the things i'm worried about. I will have to wait till I get my hands on a camera to test it.

Thanks John but this is why I was apprehensive about posting exactly what this was about. I knew people would get confused as to what exactly I was asking about, in this case, the fact that i'm making a music video is irrelevant, as is the way other people do them. This thread is really about The Arri Alexa and wether or not it can change timecode streams in real time / mid record, Thanks for your help though.

I just got booked to do a music flim clip and am just setting up (in my head) the work flow. I am a sound recordist but will also be doing doing play back on this shoot. - I have asked the production company to send me a copy of the music track so that I can record it straight into my 664 and in the process, give the music track a timecode starting at 00:00:00:00 - I want to have time code outputting wirelessly from my 664, it will be going to two Arri Alexas and my Ambient RF 301 Timecode slate. - Timecode will be free running Time of day out of my 664 so when cameras roll up and shoot the slate clap, my 664 will be outputting TOD to all the camera's and slate so the slate will show something like 14:34:32:12 -When I press play on my 664, this will all change, Timecode will be altered and will no longer be free running TOD from the 664 generator but instead will be generated from the track i recorded into my mixer days earlier starting at 00:00:00:00 Ideally, once I have set everything up, I can just push play on the 664, and all the cameras will change timecode to the what's coming off the recoding and then when they pull it into the edit, everything will line up perfectly with the audio track. This will save heaps of time in post because they will be able to line up all the different shots in post directly to the specific part of the song that it was shot for, it will all be in sync and the editor will be able to choose which angle / shot he likes best. I havent ever done a film clip before, and I only just started thinking about this about 5 mins after I got booked for this job today but in my mind: this is the most efficient way of doing it.

Hi, I have a very strange question about the Alexa and was just wondering if anyone knew if this was possible. If I have a receiver on the Alexa, can I remotely send timecode to it that changes while the Alexa is recording? E.G. My ext TC generator is sending the Alexa free running time code at 25fps starting at 14:02:23:12, everything is running normally and then my TC Generator will send time code (Still at 25fps) starting at 00:00:12:20 I know for Audio files on the SD 552 / 664, the timecode is more like a stamp and it is based on what ever the 1st timecode frame was when the recorder starts recording but does the Arri Alexa keep a continuous record of what the timecode is at that specific time? And if so, is it even possible for the Alexa to automatically receive timecode jumping back and fourth as its recording (And update in real time). I hope this makes sense, thanks for your help.

Sounds about right. Adam; Compatibility wise, There wont be any issues.

Blocks 24 and 26 seem to be most common for radio mics in Sydney but that may all change when the Digital Dividend comes into full force. The government has already laid out the info on what frequencies will be dedicated to unlicensed RF users such as ourselves but its important to keep in mind that the other higher power RF sources that are currently operating in the spectrum may also come down to the space that we will be using and we may be left with very few / specific frequencies that are left over for us. At this point its too hard to tell so only buy now if you absolutely need too. Speak to Georgina from John Barry's or Ross from Lemac, If you are needing to buy immediately; Don't waist much time because you may be able to procure some of the stock from when our dollar was good. You may need to outlay upto 20% more if you are buying product that was ordered after our dollar took a dive. Products sold in the USA and Australia are identical (AFAIK) but due to manufacture restrictions from Lectrosonics; Dealers are not allowed to sell products across international borders, This is why you can't buy Lectro Gear from B&H (or any other dealer from another country) This does not apply to second hand stock that international dealers my have in inventory. If you really want, you could have an american friend send you the units but I would advise against this, Australian Customs could charge you a fee for duty, GST and other fines and it will end up being much more expensive, In my experience John Barrys and Lemac have been very competitive with USA RRPs and in most cases will sell you the product for the exact same amount (Converted into AUD) plus you are getting easy access to warranty, support and free loan units while your's is being repaired. I recommend the Sanken COS11 Lapel microphones, These will fit right into your budgeted amounts. I have 6 of them and they are great, Most sound recordists use these because of their profile makes them easy to conceal, they are rugged and they are sound great. Lectrosonics have just updated their SR receiver line from the SRA to the SRB, Make sure you buy the SRB instead of the SRA as it has vastly improved the unit for a number of reasons.

Derek, where abouts in the menu is this option? I can't seem to find it? My TRX900aa only plays mono out of the STA100 audio out mini jack and I was hoping to be able to get stereo out of it and figured it may be in this menu. Also, when I plug my Zaxcom into my Audio return on my SD 664 and A/B, My 664 Audio sounds so much richer than whats coming out of my Zaxcom minijack audio out. I'm sure its just that the quality of the circuitry is much better on the 664 than the tiny little STA100 and the Audio being transmitted by my TRX900aa is 100% but I thought I would see if anyone had any opinions on this.

Studiomprd: I have asked questions about my Zaxcom products twice. Once in this forum and once on the Zaxcom support page. My question to the Zaxcom support went un-answered and the one from this forum was answered by the head of Zaxcom within an hour or so. I have seen your unremarkable comments on a few of the threads in this forum and figured you would be aware that the heads of Zaxcom read this board and even comment on most things Zaxcom related. Using this forum is IMHO the most efficient way to "Contact the manufacture" (In this case) I am also a big fan of 'Open Letters' on public forums or social media to get a message across. Anyway, I guess what i'm trying to say is; Drop the whole trolling thing. Its really annoying and in this case: Completely redundant.
