    Comtek BST-25/216 on battery power?

A trick I learned from Ron Meyer.. put a diode in line inside the XLR to knock the voltage down a volt or so.

New wireless TX deviation rules October '18

Are you going to mark the newer 50kHz units somehow on the label?
  3. Not sure combing pin 2 & 3 on the ring is correct. With the TA3 outputs I think you’d just leave pin 3 floating.

    Chicago rental shops

Have a Lemo to BNC cable? Then just get an off the shelf 3.5mm, strip it and hot wire your tentacles. Should only need a few moments of contact to jam.

    Microdot to Lectro TA5 failure

Or you can just take a scissors to that thing and get yourself a shiny new Switchcraft TA5F.

Also when you scan on a G3 set your squelch to low to find the cleanest channels.

You’ll be fine. G3s have a wide tuning range and I’m sure you’ll be able to find 3 clean freqs. If you need need any help while you’re in town get in touch with Gerry at Second City Sound. http://www.secondcitysound.com/

    Lectrosonics issues

Another way to look at it would be if you need 5dB of attenuation then it’s ok to run it at 0. The other big signal flow question is if it’s better to set your Sound Devices to mic level and then use something like -20 or -30 on the Lectro receiver since the line level setting on most Sound Devices machines just adds a 50 dB pad in front of the mic pre. So technically if you’re trying to minimize pre-amp gain you’d use the mic input and something less than 50 dB of attenuation on your receiver. Of course, then you’re running a weaker signal through your cabling which could be prone to inducted troubles and interference. In in an ideal world I think SD would add an option for a “-10 consumer line” setting which would match better for most wireless systems that aren’t a true line level.

Are Etymotics any better? Also which flavor are you guys using since they have several variations on the ER4

I’ve only really tried Shure in-ears but I’ve found I can’t use them on set as utility or boom because of all the inducted thumps and clicks and cable noise when moving around. Maybe this is inherent in all IEMs? I like them okay when I’m just sitting still.

I have not used either of those products. I was a little discouraged by their lack of tech specs. I got the impression it’s a very small operation. I emailed them with quite a few questions. They answered some and then ignored a bunch too.

Yeah you’re right. I was remembering the image on the website of the modules thinking they were stand alone. This would seem to fit the bill: https://www.limitear.com/products/limitear-fl/ Or this device which has some degree of adjustment and two inputs. https://www.limitear.com/products/adaptear/

    NAB 2018 Products update

Constantine, have you thought of finding an SK2000XP in the band you need? It can do 50mW or even 100mW if you can source a US version. I modded mine with an SMA so I can also remote an antenna when needed.

Karl, I think they added 50mW power to the 500s this time around.

    Rechargeable Batteries for TX

http://www.ammoboxes.com/rsld-50-24.html --- This one is my favorite for 50 count. I put them in button up when charged, button down when spent. For smaller quantities I have an 8-pack clamshell case I found on amazon that I like. There are lots of these types on Amazon easy to find.

    Rechargeable Batteries for TX

He's right. They will shred the battery label after a few uses and trash your batteries. I ruined a bunch of Eneloops that way.

    Sonosax SX-R4+

I disagree. If you need tiny you’re not going to be using a control surface. If you need a control surface you’ll most likely have at least 19” width available. On the the Facebook post about this there’s a bunch of music people who seem to like the tiny fader panel. I tend to think those folks should just use one of the 1000s of other quality products made for music recording and Sonosax might focus on making a control surface that uses the full potential of the recorder and completes the package for production Sound mixers interested in this recorder.

    Sonosax SX-R4+

Too small I’d say. Better to focus on the full featured panel first.

  24. These are great. There’s never any real estate left on cameras for sound gear these days.
